It's frustrating because I, at 28, don't trust them as far as I can throw them. But for my Dad's sake, who was expecting the Tax cuts we still haven't got, I put labour above liberal... but both were still 2nd to last & last on my list. The only thing I was interested in was Albo saying he'd increase centrelink, at the time I was on 250 a fortnight after rent & it was hell but it wasn't just for me, & the 275 power bill thingy... which as we know, we aren't getting now... So not worth it

He was hopeless 30 years ago, hasn’t got any better.

Interesting background. You are quite right about people of lower calibre finding their way into positions of power. I have a theory that this is mainly due to the continual dumbing down of our education systems (here and elsewhere in the world) over the last 30 years or so and we have started to see the results of this policy in the last couple of decades. Claire O'Neil is low grade, but Andrew Giles is worse. The left also have have this unwavering belief that they are right (with supporting facts and evidence, being optional) and become increasingly loud and aggressive when challenged.

My Dad worked for immigration office for over 10 years his job was to looking after the office network, making sure they were always connected to the ACT, but when they were short staffed for the raids to pickup illegal “over stayed” visa tourist, he was roped in even though he is not part of the offical raiding teams. He hated that part he was not trained officially to do the job it was over his pay grade, but because he served in the Army as an MP for over 5 years they used him because of his past experience. He was never given the option to say no. The immigration office is understaffed and over worked and they will pull in staff members into the raiding parties if they have any army based training regardless if it’s not in their job description. That is absolutely nuts, if he had been injured during these raids they could have turned around and not pay medical bills because of this to any of the unofficial members of the raiding party. After doing it 5 times he put the question to the boss about this. Within 12 months of doing that he’s job was fazed out completely and he was given the choice of transfers g to be part of the raiding team or take early retirement on a full pension. That was during a time when labour was in power yet again. Dad took early retirement he got the office job because he had been badly injured in his old job and was not physically able to do the manual labour needed to to the job, this meant chasing down illegals immigrants would only aggravate his back injury. They knew he would take the early retirement, there were 3 other guys in the same position as Dad and they too were given the same option, they all left. And all of them had to sign a non disclosure form. So they were gagged from telling anyone in the media all those years ago not me my NDCF firm that I signed only dealt with Centerlink and peoples private records I had to access to help them. I never worked for immigration, I’m glad I never took up the job offer with them now all those years ago. The department ran smoothly when labour was NOT in control of the government but each time they got in so many jobs were shuffled around and yet more staff were cut which was needed to do the checks on all illegals as well as those who applied through the correct channels. But it was the illegals who were given priority over the others. This is why the department does not work like it use to 30 years ago. I did not take the job because after working Centerlink for 3 years and the department of housing for a year before that I was tired of being abused by dole bludgers looking for a home but owing the government hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages to homes rented to them that they destroyed. They thought they should not have to pay for the damages at all. Then in Centerlink it just got worse, unlike the department of housing and the number of people who would jump over the desk to try and strangle you because you had to turn them down because of the money they owed was bad enough, the language used to us over the phones from those who had to report their earnings every two weeks if they were collecting the unemployment payments was over the top, and if they skipped reporting and added it onto the following fortnight they would get so abusive specially when you had to dock their payments to them for the set number of weeks to get the money back which is a joke because in reality the government was paying it back out of the tax payers money in the first place. All,I did was put the data into the file and the file would spit out the amount they would be getting for the next few weeks, all because they were to dam lazy to pickup the phone or to drop off the form into the office every two weeks with their earnings. I would get blamed. I was glad I was moved to pensions for a while until I realised I was also dealing with un-wed single mothers 🙄😳90% of the time. Most of the age pensioner never called much over the phone as they preferred the day out they got when going to the office in person, then go to meet up with friends for lunch. So the thought of working in immigration with so much more issues of language and so much more it was a very hard NO. I had a gut full of abuse from Aussies day in day out I was NOT going to add illegals from countries where women were considered send class citizens and have to deal with their crap. Getting a Federal government job is great when it comes to the pension plan but it’s not that sweet of a deal when you have to put up with people being abusive, who think they can try to slap you around to get what they want and when they don’t get it they spit on you. Nope I decided no pension was with that much of abuse ever.
