Compared to the other characters she has changed less for the entire series that most of the others for one book alone. Worse yet, she is still so dull, dumb and passive as she was in the beginning - except then she was excused by ber age and her parents' uprbringing. If not for her beauty and the constant protection from Sandor, Tyrion and Petyr she would be long dead. Myranda had her figured her out first time they met in spite of her assurance Royce will get nothing out of her, and she still hasn't realised it.

@@leylamansori873 She's still 14, even younger when she was at King's Landing. That is excusable no matter which way you spin it. You can't expect her to have the insight you would expect of an adult, especially that most adults would not possess. I would actually argue she has come a long way since her sheltered, naive and idealistic upbringing in AGOT and the certain depression she went through following her father's death and sister's disappearance. She has grown more world-weary and guarded, but she still has notions of her former romanticism. She has began to learn to play the game and realise the consequences of her actions, and knows how to operate within her limitations, such as her manipulation of Joffrey, Sweetrobin, and to a certain degree, even Littlefinger and Tyrion, two of the smartest characters in the series. You say she is passive, but she is making her moves, and soon will assert herself and turn everything on its head by "slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow". Her arc is progressing quite naturally and in the final two books her story will ramp up as he cements her role as a major player of the game. She is witty, charming, capable, kind and intelligent, and has an exceptional ability to empathise, characteristics that all have nothing to do with her beauty, and these help her with Sandor and Littlefinger just as much as her looks. To me, she's certainly not your typical damsel in distress. Tyrion, on the other hand, treated her well because he felt sorry for her, and he love's a good sob story, and Dontos because of Littlefinger, but also because of her actions saving his life. Her relationship with Lothar Brune also indicates how she is well thought of and liked, and she may have even unintentionally gained his loyalty from Littlefinger. Of course she still makes mistakes, as seen when Randa absolutely played her, and Ser Shadrich may have a hunch who she really is, but she has not done anything to incriminate herself with him yet. Coming back to Randa, I doubt it will put her in harms way though. It definitely is bad news for Littlefinger, as even if the Royces have put two and two together with Lysa's death and the slipper and it leads them back to Alayne, she can always pull her trump card and call the Lords Declarant to arms and venture forth into the Riverlands or the North with their assistance along with the rest of the Vale army, under either Sweetrobin or Harry the Heir's authority, the latter of whom will certainly be more interested in her now as she comes with a claim to the North and Harrenhal and even Riverrun if Edmure and his unborn child do not survive. A final spanner in the works could be Bronze Yohn, not at the tourney, who may actually have recognised her from his time at Winterfell, but who's to know of and the consequences if that is the case.

@@sealy_99 Sorry for taking so long, I was terribly busy these months to even check YT replies, let alone answering them. True, she is far away from the naive kid she was pior to Ned's death (but then again, who wouldn't be?) but she is still ignorant afterwards to consider beauty a trait good enough to think the handsome Loras would be the best match, ignoring the facts that he doesn't really care about her, that she doesn't know him at all, that Joffrey treated her better than him before the execution, that he can't even marry because of his vows (something she should know by then) and that his own grandmother just told her how much beauty was worth! I also have a minor reason to dislike her as well, something that may not even be intentional on the author's part (if so, that would be perfectly understandable, he can't remember everything), that shortly after Jeyne Poole is taken away from her on Cersei's orders, she promptly forgets about her. She doesn't shows proper concern before J. and C. come off as the nasty people they are (which could be forgiven) but later on? How does one forget their best friend, especially in these circumstances? I agree she is a great empath and to an extent she is can be kind but mainly to those around her (again, Jeyne) and that she great talent of charming people (as proven with the bastard-hating Harrold) and manipulating, whether Sweetrobin or framing Marillion. Problem is, that with some minor exceptions (Dontos and Sandor, helping Lancel and comforting the other people that were with her after C. stormed out, suggesting the idea of forming TBOWK to Petyr), everything that she did story-wise, she was always told beforehand why and how to do it - which why I consider her passive, and even then, she can fail without even realising it, when she all but blurted out her connection to Jon, I mean the NW Lord Commander, to Myranda. I also don't consider her age is an excuse in this Universe. Robb, Daeny, Bran and Arya especially and others as well are smart enough at her age to learn from the lessons they got (which I believe is part of the reason the author stated he should have aged some of them up). To be clear, I don't dislike her completely - D.T. is the only important character I can't stand from the point after the Red Waste (especially in the show), for reasons that surprisingly are mostly overlooked in the fandom. Overall, I admire Sansa for the strength she shows in enduring the king's and the queen's mercy for so long all alone. Even if you age her up accordingly, this is still remarkable. Other than that, I don't see much. She has great potential, but she still hasn't learned to use it for herself. Hopefully that will change.

Its good to see Sansa have some good time. She deserves it after all shes been through.

It’s funny how I hated Sansa in AGOT, but now she’s one of my favorite characters. I loved how she slowly learned the difference between a song and the real world. She’s also the more relatable Stark POV in my opinion. Arya’s journey is so fucked up and she’s so obsessed with revenge, that I can’t really relate to her motivations (still love to read her chapters tough!), and Jon is way too important, with his “save the World” thing, to be relatable. Sansa is more focused on self preservation and achieving her own goals, and I can definitely relate to that. Even if her goals didn’t change very much from the beginning of the story, and she still wants to be a lady and marry a handsome man, she definitely changed the way she pursues those goals. Edit: That’s the same reason I love Bran.

Hard agree. And I believe Jon's resurrection is going to leave him quite villainous and vengeful, like Stoneheart, too fucked up to be relatable. Sansa is the only Stark who still remembers Ned Stark's values.

@@michaelstark8720 I would argue that she didn’t do anything so bad, considering she was 11 years old and Ned never bothered to explain to his daughters why King’s Landing was so dangerous in the first place. Her only mistake was to trust Cersei, but she had no reasons not to, since the Lannisters had been nothing but kind to her up to that point, while Ned (from her POV) was punishing her (sending her home) without any reasons (again, that she knew of). It’s like Littlefinger said: even the smallest pieces have a mind of their own in the game of thrones. Sansa was an insignificant piece, but she changed the game, because Ned was a bad player and didn’t take her into consideration in his moves. The way Sansa blamed Arya and Ned, instead of Cersei and Joffrey, for Lady’s death was stupid, but again she was 11 and in love with Joff and this hatred for her family wasn’t even what caused Ned’s fall. Please, correct me if I’m wrong, but I also think that, if Sansa hadn’t warned Cersei of Ned’s plans, the only thing that would have happened differently is be that she and Arya would have escaped. IIRC, Ned meant to stay behind until Stannis returned. Robert would still have died, Ned would still have been made prisoner and eventually executed and so on. No?

Losing her wolf means she isn't Stark anymore nor she will ever be one again Ned wasn't bad player, he told Catelyn to tell northern lords list of things to prepare for conflict including sending archers to Moat Cailin to hold of possible attacks and he send Beric to get mountain under king's banner. His only mistake was not preparing to act if Robert die and when that happened, he payed. Catelyn ruined all Ned's plans by capturing Tyrion although she kept repeating herself "it must not came to war" and 5 min later she start war by taking Tyrion and then later she and her sister allowed Tyrion to demand trial by combat. If Ned asked for trial by combat he would never get that from Lannisters Ned died because of betrayal of his daughter and stupidity of his wife. If they kept Tyrion as prisones, they would get maybe Ned back. If Not then Starks should killed Jamie, not kept him alive. karstarks were right to kill captive Lannisters That's way game is played

@@michaelstark8720 What? Why do you think Sansa, an 11 year old, should know better than to tell Cersei about Ned’s plans, but Ned shouldn’t? He was the one who told the Queen he was going to reveal her secret to Robert. Sending Beric to kill the Mountain was also a very bad move. Everyone in the Council told him so lol And Cat was under the impression that the Lannisters were behind the attempt to assassinate Bran and Jon Arryn. From her POV, if Tyrion reached King’s Landing he would jave told Cersei and Jaime that he met Cat in the King’s Road and they would probably reach to conclusion that the Starks were aware of their actions, in which case Ned would be in trouble soon. It was a smart move to capture Tyrion (especially considering that his guards originally outnumbered hers, but she managed to quickly convince everyone in the inn to help her). Also, saying Cat was dumb for letting Lysa granting Tyrion a trial is the same thing that saying Varys was dumb for letting Joffrey execute Ned. They were not the ones in charge and there was nothing they could have done to stop it. Ned died because Joffrey was psychopath. Period. Cersei didn’t mean to kill him, and neither would Tywin or Tyrion after they returned. A tamed wolf was much more useful than a dead one. You may argue that Ned was arrested because of Sansa’s betrayal, but that’s not true either, because he was the one who told Cersei that he meant to tell Robert about the twincest. The only ones who got screwed up by Sansa were Arya, Syrio and some of Ned’s guards, who could have been on a ship when Cersei’s coup begun, if Sansa had not warned her. Last but not least, why would they kill Jaime, losing the only leverage they had against Tywin, especially considering that if they did so Cersei would definitely kill Sansa and (as far as Robb and Cat knew) Arya? You don’t know anything about the history of warfare if you think people usually killed war prisoners. All throughout History, low value prisoners were turned into slaves and high value prisoners were ransomed.

This was good but I took Sansa saying "Oh no! Petyr will howl at what I said!" as her looking forward to sharing a joke with him. Howl as in laugh, not yell at her. You kinda made it sound like she was afraid of his reaction.

Ooo Sansa’s gotten naughty now. I like it. Good combo of flattery and good natured insults.

God I forgot how well Martin writes especially in ASOIAF. It’s arguably unmatchable and when watching the show you forget you good and how deep the story really is. (Even though most of the seasons are really good and GOT set a standard of it’s own in the world of TV series not regarding the ending)

Sansa is fantastic in this. Naughty and flirtatious and cunning. She learned from the best. More like the queen of the north she’ll hopefully become in the books. I took a little pleasure in her shaming Harry and teasing him. It was clever to make him fall for her while she pretends to be a bastard.

A northern civil war could be possible, Jon Snow will probably be resurrected, releasing him from his vows and making him (legitimized by Robb and made Robb's successor by decree) King in the North. Wyman Manderly (along with many other northern lords) wish to put Rickon on the throne (trueborn son of Ned Stark, so a better claim than Jon, assuming Jon is a Stark). Littlefinger would def want to push Sansa forward, maybe after killing Robert Arryn and after marrying her to Harrold, would control the Vale, the Riverlands (through Harrenhall), and the North (through Sansa); all Petyr has to wait for is a certain dwarf to get shortened by a head and he has tentative control of 3/7 kingdoms.

I think Robin is just like Lysa in this chapter. He pretty much says that no-one would love Sansa more than he does & In Storm of Swords Lysa says the same to LF after she saw LF kissing Sansa.

Great narration bro, sweet robin was always going to be tricky but damn I cant stop laughing everytime you do the voice XD It fits him though :)

Just listened to this outside in the dark and came away with an entirely new creepy outlook on Sansa. There is a lot more going on telepathically with Sansa in this chapter than I ever expected before.

This chapter is really showing how much LF is rubbing off on her. She is learning his wit, his manipulation, his skill at the game. All the while she is getting closer and closer to him as well.

Ay Yo She already knew how to lie convincingly and deal with people when she was in King's Landing, out of necessity (e.g. getting Joffrey to save Dontod, lying to Tyrion and everyone about her meetings with Dontos in the godswood and convincing them she is just incredibly religious). Littlefinger is just helping her develop and perfect those skills. I don't see any signs of her getting closer to LF, especially not in this chaptet. If anything, she is getting closer to other people in the Vale - like Mya, Lothor Brune, Myranda, other people that first appeared in this chapter, and even Sweetrobin, although he also still annoys her a lot of the time.

Sansa's chapters are always so fun

This chapter is outstanding! Notice how subtle the writing reveals Sansa's political acumen. Just by looking at Mya she knows what, or rather who, made Mya scowl. Later, she walks through the courtyard and keeps remarking how everyone is saying the opposite of what they are doing. When she meets LF, she notices that he 'gave her that smile that never reached his eyes', confirming that she is well aware how insincere and manipulative he is. Finally, and most obviously, we are led to believe that she will fall for Harry and fail to manipulate him just like she did with Joffrey, until the very end when she turns the tables completely. She is Margery, Cersei, and LF combined.

This, why did we not get this Sansa? Sansa in the show had zero charm to her. No offense to the actress but there is not much depth to her character in the show.

Yes, definitely, although I really think that’s DnD’s fault and not Sophie Turner’s. In fact, her acting was the only thing making it bearable for me, like, the season 7 Winterfell scenes were super bad but at least the acting was good.

Dotrice lost me only bc the voices were changed through AFFC and ADOD. tho Dotrice has estimated he used like 200 or so different voices from book 1 to 5. With that said this guy has stolen my vote of a loyal listener of Dotrice. p.s. if you ever have the time to do (The Mystery Knight book 3 of dunk and egg) you would do justice to the story. the original narrator killed it.

Are you kidding Sss Hhh? You are either deaf or didn't listen to much of the books if you think all his characters sound like pirates. Some do, yes, but I'd like to see anyone narrate a book with that many characters and some not sound alike. Although I do agree with Gravity, I didn't like how he changed the voice of quite a few of the characters throughout all the books. It would be understandable with minor characters but he did it with some of the main characters, and a few even in the same book lol. And I didn't like how he changed the pronunciation of some of the characters names either. That being said though, with work as epic as A song of Ice and Fire, I think he did an overall outstanding job.

Extremely well done! They should have you do the Winds of Winter!

The Vale would prove decisive in any of the conflicts currently wracking Westeros. GRRM has kept the stony land aloof for a reason, but somehow I don’t think it is their fate to arrive in the nick of time to save Jon Snow or anyone else. No, I think the future holds a very local and very specific civil war between factions within the Vale itself.

This was wonderful :)

It was somewhere around 2 hours, I can't remember exactly. I definitely flub a lot of lines, and I usually start from the top of the sentence (sometimes even the paragraph) rather than halfway through the sentence in the re-do. And there are always at least a few lengthy pauses where I drink some drank or take a breather while still recording. The editing takes between 2 and 3 hours too, depending on how focused I am. The moral of the story - no shame in taking your time. Self awareness is very important, and the fact that you're re-recording a lot shows you don't lack that. So don't stress getting faster, that'll come with doing it a bunch. Just be patient and self aware and you'll make good stuff.

You do a good job of reading, not trying to knock it, but I really prefer to hear these characters portrayed with an English accent. That being said, thanks for putting these out.

Bret Viola eh why should they have English accents? The books are set in a fictional world. Maybe because of the show? If thats the reason they should be portrayed with irish accents as most of the cast were irish including all the baratheon children. Sean bean and mark addy were basically the only english actors in the show

killerjob Honestly, I think it’s because of Roy Dotrice’s narration of the series. It’s the absolute bar in which everyone else has to measure up to. Again, the reading was fine. It’s more of a, “it’s not you, it’s me” thing.

I read these books when I was 19 and completely hated Sansa. Her father and his men were all betrayed by Littlefinger and here his daughter is galavanting around the country with him pretending to be HIS daughter. And she LIKES it! She hardly ever even mentions Ned. But as I get older, I realize that she's just a young girl. She knows nothing about those events and she's clearly trying to hide away in this knew persona she's built. Major signs of disassociation and PTSD.

I didn't think Sansa could get more despicable than she was, but wow! She's truly a product of Cersei & Littlefinger 😒

Well done again. This is the dullest of the preview chapters though there is important information therein of course.

How is it dull??? It couldn't stop reading it and got so disapointed when it ended.

At some point, I hope Sansa finds out that it was her that got Ned Stark killed.
