I am personally going nuts waiting for WOW. I've read all the books 4 times and will probably a couple more before it's released. I am so happy that Barristan the Bold isn't dead in the books. For a group of Harpies to take him down in the show was a travesty and unrealistic

The unrealistic part of this scene was that he was randomly walking the streets of a hostile city unarmored. If he'd been wearing his suit of plate, he would have carved through those raggedy obodies like a knife through cheese. It wasn't that Barristan being killed when he was vastly outnumbered was unrealistic. I suspect John Montag didn't quite mean that. The issue with Barristan's death is the ignominious meaninglessness of it. He was murdered by masked nobodies in a fucking alley, for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. And they specifically depicted the character in an unrealistic way, so that they could get him into a situation where he could be murdered this way.

Mubarak Modibbo lol. No. It’s implied several times that Barristan still has it in him to take on about 5-6 of the Kingsguard at once. In Meereen against untrained Wise Masters? Not a problem. They simply killed him in the show so they could have less characters to worry about.

Meanwhile in D&D's world: "Let's just have this guy get killed by some trick or treaters!"

Id hate to play total war against george lol

No one gives a prewar speech like Sir Barristan the Bold. He covered all the bases. He and Victerion should meet.

Finally got into the books, and this is by far my favorite moment of the series so far. This battle is unbelievably epic, and will have earth-shattering consequences for the world and the story as a whole. What a shame that we didn't get to see this in the show :(

I honestly started with the show but after Season 3 I started to read into the books and saw how much more superior it was, Season 3 is really when things started making less sense from the lack of Ironborn to the abrupt and sudden Red Wedding (although the scenes themselves were really amazing). Besides, I'm thinking Barristan will pass away shortly after the battle, but not before winning one last glorious battle

Isn't it amazing how Dany managed to unite all of Slavers Bay to lay a jolly siege on her city? The Camps outside Mereen are probably the most interesting collection of people in Essos. Not to mention the Siege of Mereen is the most impressive Military Operation of the Series so far. Good listen, too.

Sir Devil The slavers are basically done. The next Barristan sample shows them shattering between Victarion and Barristan, along with all the defecting sellsword companies. Real enemy is likely the shavepate or the still upcoming volantines.

The siege of Mereen is a complete shitshow, what are you talking about? The besieging army is a disorganized rabble of slaves and sellswords, and half of them are dying of dysentery, while the leaders fight among themselves for precedence...

DaHansWars Barristan had a HUGE hand in starting war. The Shavepate convinced Barristan that Hizdahr zo Loraq is leading The Sons of the Harpy, and Barristan believed him... So, he initiated the coup against Hizdahr zo Loraq and threw him in jail... Also, Barristan trusting Quentyn was a huge mistake, thus Quentyn released the dragons... Daenerys deciding to marry Hizdahr zo Loraq helped stop the killing in Mereen. The Sons of the Harpy stopped attacking, and also thanks to the Green Grace's words on the people. After Barristan's coup on Hizdahr zo Loraq, thanks to the Shavepate being able to trick him, the Sons of the Harpy attacked again... If Drogon did not rip Daenerys away from Mereen the coup would have never happened and the siege of Mereen could be less messy... Yes, sadly, Daenerys has to deal with Barristan's mess, Yunkai, Astapor, and the Iron Men; Victarion and Euron... She knew back in *A Storm of Swords* that war was coming and that Yunkai and Astapor are coming for her, but she(and no one else) knew it would be this large...

Such a shame that TWOW will no longer be narrated by the amazing Roy Dotrice, who narrated all the previous books.

And the horn that blows during this battle is .... Victarion. The sound of the dragon horn blowing, signaling the attack, summoning the dragons, and letting Drogon know where the battle is so Dany can find her way back to Mareen. This battle is going to be mind blowing!

Very good job with these, you have a good speaking voice and an appropriate tone for each of the characters, even the women in your other posts. Most of all I like the fact that you make these with just images of the novel as background, too many people who make clips about GoT feel the need to film themselves, often with product-placement merchandise clearly visible in the background. But you do an excellent job, and do so without the self-premotion of other people.

You do a great job reading these excerpt chapters. I have read them all multiple times but still get more out of it even time. I like your voice better than Ray Doltrice, who played a pyromancer and read the Audio Books. Thank you.(only listened to a few chapters as I didn't enjoy his voice, It was just to reinforce anyway) Great pronunciation of the Skahadadhan!

This is excelent example of relatively long chapter filled exclusivly with descriptions.

Thanks friend. I was actually misinformed when I made this. I thought this was the first of two Barristan chapters, but it turns out the first was only ever read at a con and not transcribed, and this is the second. Editing the title now to make it less misleading! I'll do Arianne next, hopefully in the next couple days!

It was read in public only once, so all that exists are summaries from those who heard it.

Do you think dany will be taken back vaes dothrak like in the show? I don't think she will go there i think she will take command of the small khalasaar probably 20 thousand screamers and head straight to meereen to finish the battle or show up right after the battle is finished

Really hoping this battle turns out kind of like the Siege of Antioch when the crusaders were being attacked by the massive Turkish force and just fuckin rushed out of the city all at once and catch the Turks by surprise, destroying a small force and causing the rest to completely rout.
