One thing about the nuts since you mentioned it - those nuts must be made of steel, because mine get all shriveled just watching those beasts.

i lived in Alaska for 18 years and have always been fascinated by the big bears. I have never seen such footage. The film maker has balls of steel and an amazing professional touch. Thank you for putting your life in danger to allow all of us to feel just a bit of what you went through.

There was a man who lived with the bears in Alaska. Talked a woman into living with them. Sure enough an old bear ate them yet previous yrs squeeters ate him. He video taped all these bears. I want to say Tim Treadwell, but memory fails his name but not the fact of the bears he warned us about is the 1 who did them in!

This Wildlife Photographers who filmed this Video did an outstanding piece of work. This young man Andreas and his partner have extensive knowledge of Brown Bears and Nerves of steel to be able get as close to these huge Brown Bears and photograph them. The Narrator did a fine job explaining and commenting on each bear they saw and filmed. This Documentary is one of the highest quality I have seen in both subject matter and Video Quality.

Great documentary! Huge gigantic beautiful bears !

30 years ago a friend told me of his stay on Kodiak Island. Fishing and hiking filled his "off hours" as a visiting engineer on several Navy projects there. On one of his many hikes through the old growth forest, he came upon a large evergreen tree and was surprised to see a bear's claw marks on the ancient tree's bark. It was not the size or depth of the bark removed by the bear's large claws, rather the elevation of the highest gouges. That's when the engineer in him caused him to measure the height of the marks, which was almost 20'. When he first told me the story I was skeptical; however, years later I have grown to disbelieve this story less and less.

This was such a beautiful and educational documentary! I couldn’t believe how close he got to the bears, the photography was excellent and I’m happy to know there’s a place where hardly any humans venture into so those bears don’t get hunted and there’s plenty of food so the mothers have up to four cubs! And the bears don’t have fear of humans. I’m scared of grizzlies but I think black bears are so cute, especially the mother with cubs and the way they climb trees!

Excellent cinematography. Gotten by getting so close to these amazing creatures. You're braver than me, my man. Well done.

For some reason when I see a bear catch a salmon and devour it, it looks delicious to me. The salmon looks sooo good

I was hiking up at Mt Rainier today & came across a big Black Bear all fattened up for winter. Amazing animals! I can’t imagine being that close to a Kodiak this camera guy must have some kind of brass pair.

It's incredible and dangerous... he shouldn't keep doing this... he could end up dead. Attacks HAPPEN and if he is constantly around them he needs to at least carry a firearm. All I saw was beat spray...

Yeah it's always amazing how much these curious onlookers and photographers keep playing with these walking timebombs unaware that tragedy is shadowing them at any moment.

These guys are determined, brave and just plain nuts getting so close to them. Not knowing when one might snap. But still an awesome documentary.

Really great documentary! I admire the hard work and multiple skills to do this - not only film, but hunt these animals (find where they are), filming getting so close, how to navigate, repair equipment and on and on. That is so smart using a sailboat to travel - can go far on no gas. This was a great film.

Seeing all the Bears fishing reminded me of Brother Bear. This is an awesome documentary! I truly hope those majestic creatures can continue to live and grow in peace. These isolated places do NOT need to be swarming with trophy hunters!

I truly don't know how anyone could even think about shooting one of those beautiful animals with anything other than a camera. Plus, the fact that these animals are so peaceful if you do have one as a trophy, it only shows that you're a true coward needing to go after an animal that doesn't see you as a threat, so they'll not run making it easy for you to kill them. The thing to do, is to leave them alone to live in peace and just love the fact that they exist on this planet with us, and that we get to see videos like this one showing them at peace in nature.

Spectacular and stunning! Im just sorry that now people know exactly where to go to slaughter these magnificent creatures. I agree with the narration at the end which stated hunters would need no skill and are better to just let the bears go on unharmed! You guys have big hearts and passion to travel the world to document these tremendous and mysterious bears! Incredible beauty our planet offers us with so much abundant life and balanced ecosystems.

It’s called Alaska! No place even compares! Simple! I live here, guide tourists along our southern coast, bear viewing and salmon guide fishing on Kodiak Iskand which are much bigger then our inland grizzly!

Bears around here in Alaska have learned that during the fall, in moose season, that a rifle shot means a free meal and they will come running towards it, it's insane.

It's a myth that Grizzly Bears can't climb trees. Though their weight makes it harder, they have been known to climb trees in pursuit of prey. If the branches are arranged in a ladder type arrangement it is made easier.

That thicket they came up through into Kodiak island and especially the tree that was used as a scratching post reminds me strongly of Treadwell's videos and I wonder if it's the same tree the 10 foot long Grizzly scratched itself on

This is real symbiosis, so peaceful coexistence between species.

There are an over population of most Kodiak & Grizzly bears in the world and why they allow natives to hunt them and use them for food and wares.

The study of zoology really educates scientists into animal behavior and why they act certain ways. In the way of how a zoologist may quietly and respectfully photograph a grizzly vs a hunter not knowing what to do and thinking its about to die and get torn up with all the wrong decisions. I personally studied zoology, it opens up curiosity to the birth of life and how we humans are not any different than animal behavior.

I’m sure this man says his prayers everyday. ❤

It was so cool that he was rubbing elbows with wild giant grizzlies 😳, or hand feeding wild foxes.

@@J24J I’m not sure, but I thought the comment was meant to send the same message. Because these guys are definitely taking a chance. And it’s amazing that Treadwell had a pet fox following him also. I like this docu, but it definitely sends the wrong message. The host said, Andreas is good at predicting the bears behavior, even though we know they are unpredictable!

Close to the bears...Treadwell vibe. Many were "well prepared" but ended up in dire trouble.

Did you Hear him Say Grizzly bears CAN'T CLIME After the black bear ran up the tree. totally incorrect. Many all grizzly bears can run at 10mpr up a tree and tear a black bear out of it stripping every branch on that tree all most. Grizzly's will fly up a tree at speeds .Compared to other animals. thier claws are built better than any black bear and 4 inches long in some full grown Boars.

I would say that these bears are very lucky to live in this area. The closer the wild animals live to humans, the more animals are exposed to the risk of extinction. I pray that these magnificent and beautiful bears will continue to live happily there after 10, 50, 100 years. This is irrelevant to the theme of the video, but we sincerely hope that the Siberian tiger will live happily like the bears here. Anyway, thank you to the production team, the cameraman, and the brave man near the bear.

This is an unbelievable video. Spectacular. I always thought that it was in the nature of a grizzly or polar or brown bear to attack humans. "That's how they are", I thought. Here we see proof that I was wrong. Bears attacking humans is learned behavior. Bears attack us because they have learned that humans are there to hurt them. It is not in their nature; it is learned behavior. This is incredible.

Bears attack humans when they get hungry and desesperate, has nothing to do with learned behavior, most of them have never seen a human. If they have food and aren’t hungry they don’t usually attack humans and then again Grizzly bears are carnivores they feed off of other animals they kill, you think they wouldn’t feed of a human just because we’re humans?
