Slowly but surely I’m mending well thank you. There’s some bigger tides coming up next week that I think will bring in some freshies!

Crazy low water, and it's clear, not that milky blue color that we are accustomed to in the summer months. I guess the pending runoff changes the coloration fairly quickly. We'll be up in August for the reds, the silvers, and the pinks. Thanks as always for keeping all of us updated. 😊

Yep it’s a pink year! Not much rain and still cold here. The glaciers haven’t broke loose yet to fill up the rivers. I’ve seen a couple fish being netted so far! A small jack king and some steelhead! Starting to pick up 😀

Love your videos keep them coming. What length is the boat you and Vinny use on the Kenai river?

Ahh thanks! We’ve been running Vinny’s dad’s 18 footer in the river. This particular one is a V bottom which is just okay for the river but doubles as a short distance halibut boat for running off the beach.

The water level has been quite low, plus the tides haven’t been big enough lately to raise the level out front here. Glaciers should be melting soon though plus bigger tides next week

Sounds like a great summer plan! Bings landing rec site should be accessible to you if you’re out in Sterling already and should be a place you check out. It can get crowded but is a super fun fishing spot that gets lots of sunshine and lots of fish! Chest waders are best, having a backup pole is a good idea and planning ahead for cleaning and packaging your catch should also be on your mind. I’m excited for you to make it up! Thanks for the comment 😎

Question for you: will you be at the Nilinchik opening or staying North at your place on the Kalisoff or headed south?

  • @alaskasmallcraftadventures

More than likely I’ll be on the kasilof. If seen a couple fish netted so far. Steelhead and small jack king. With all of the lower river restrictions I’ll probably steer clear unless something changes. I sure miss those deep creek lunkers!

Trustworthy hardware and Ken’s tackle in Soldotna. I heard that Shakespeare is discontinuing the ugly stik bigwater flyrod which is going to be a sad day if true.
