One of my favorite songs from the 90s performed by one of my favorite artists of the 90s.

Genius,the way this version brings to the front the anxiety of the lyrics. slowed down and vocally focused.

I swear take any song from the 90's, slow it down, play it acoustically and it brings new feelings of nostalgia, sadness, mortality, and memories of when life was simpler and the future was far off.

I love the original but I got to say this version works too. Billie Joe always said the song was about anxiety And panic attacks But it’s such a fast catchy song I think that gets lost most of the time. She’s slowing it down so you could actually listen to the confusion and discord the narrator is feeling.

Nah I think how upbeat and fast the song is normally really brings out that this is just something that's pushed back and the lyrics mirror this too

Alanis was a replacement FOR Green Day on the show this night... they had to cancel because of Billie Joe's breakdown at the award show.

Mental problems are no joke, they suck for me. Props to Alanis for representing Billy, and for Billy for battling mental issues, and taking a mental health break.

A great song can be played in any style. Basket Case. It can be a rocker, a ballad, a reggae tune or even a rap song. This is just beautiful.

This deserves more accolade's than it's RECIEVED! Give love to the weird and...be weird and creative/supportive. Great version from a great artist.

Dookie was such an empowering punk album so to say it ruined punk is a lackluster comment itself. and the way Alanis nails the anxiety induced title speaks volumes. I've heard this song millions of times but have listened to it for the first time. ❤

She made it her own, not better or worse.

I remeber Alanis was promoting her album during this time. She could have performed one of her new songs and benefit from the performance, yet she sang a song from Greenday in support for Billy. Thats huge.

LOL. I love Alanis. I'm not sure about this cover though. Something about the speed of Green Day's original that gets me going. However, the way that Alanis sings this, I could "almost" believe that she wrote it haha.

She’s definitely talented but this is just a bad cover of the song, it takes away from the intended meaning of the song, it’s supposed to be fast and loud to mirror the emotions it’s describing
