Really confusing how the Confederacy only existed for six years and people are desperate to remember it, while slavery existed for 240 years and people are desperate to forget it. (Sadly, it's not actually confusing, but oh well.)

It’s a state that won’t invest in child care, education, universal medical care, eliminating child poverty. The judicial system is a horror. But roll tide gives them something to unify on and be proud of.

60 years ago, my family moved from a small town in rural Pennsylvania to Mobile, Alabama. Even though the school my sisters and I attended was a CHRISTIAN school (well, Catholic, anyway) I was amazed by all the verbal abuse we were subjected to for being YANKEES. You would have thought my sisters and I fought in the Civil War and were therefore PERSONALLY responsible for the deaths of the other students relatives who fought in the war.

I'm surprised they didn't claim you as their own! Rural PA intolerance is miniscule compared to most of the South, but of nearly identical beliefs. Grew up in Bethlehem and spent a lot of time in the backwoods towns surrounding the Lehigh Valley... and that's mild compared to further in central PA. It baffles me how several generations have been completely brainwashed to hate.

@@jalicea1650 the four main cities/metros which are Huntsville , Birmingham, Montgomery, and mobile are all somewhat exceptions to this case. They are your typical American cities filled with people from all backgrounds. No matter which city you will find that all of them have great people that live there. If there is racism. You won’t hear it to your face lol. Huntsville is the exception because it just evolved differently due to the tech, aerospace , and defense industries. The city governments are a healthy mix of moderates Nothing extreme. If you ever were to visit Huntsville you’d see why it’s having so much success as compared to the rest of the state.
The current senator/football coach from the state of Alabama, Tommy Tuberville, couldn't name the 3 branches of government

This is something that people from big cities can learn from rural areas. RESPECT each other. The thing is in big cities like New York you can be disrespectfull to people with opposite opinions because you never see them again. But when you live in a rural area or small town you will meet this person again and again and again.

The thought that the pandemic affected "minorities" worse than whites is incorrect on the actual facts, not what they believe happened. When you really parse the data down it is something that the left and the Democrats try to push to get them to not vote republican.

While cities were opening back up, the disease was hitting lower income people at higher rates than before because of the inability to quarantine living in closer quarters & not having a choice to go to work or not. Add to that the lack of testing in poorer neighborhoods, & that is why it hit minorities at a higher proportion.

His comment seemed more fear based. Of something happens bad in the white community they're going to make it worse in the black community. Makes more sense than a connection to the pandemic because he talked about rights right afterwards. My father was born in Alabama in the 1930's. When he graduated from high school he joined the Air Force. Saved his money and moved his mother and her mother to Cleveland. I asked about his childhood and teen years. He wouldn't. His experiences went to the grave....Alabama and Mississippi were the worst states for black people in the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's.
If you want to fix Alabama politically, a total boycott of SEC schools by black athletes will do it. Done in 10 years guaranteed

Too bad many of the young star athletes and their parents aren't more socially responsible. They don't think like that. I get it. For people of limited means it's all about making it to the NFL and Alabama clearly provides that as a major opportunity.

As an Alabaman, this is hilarious/sad, and accurate.
One of the best times I had when I lived in L.A. was when Alabama went to the rose bowl ...they travel deep, party hard and played nice...and they know they're football
There really are some fantastic things about Alabama. Leaving it for instance.

I'm growing up in italy as a half Italian half alabamian and all I have to say is WAR EAGLE! But more seriously my mother always described growing up in alabama as growing up in a little world where the most important thing in the world was who was going to win the Friday game

In 3rd grade my family moved from Illinois to Alabama. I was an excellent reader and not a single kid in my class could read. The teacher had me help them teach kids to read... in 3rd grade. The public school system in Alabama is very sad. Thankfully my mom pulled me out and I started homeschool after that. Ended up graduating a year early and going to college at 17.
1:13 the black dude was so embarrassed. lol
All the BAMA FINBAUM Callers are there, Phillis, is the best. This is what I love about being a ROLL TIDE ROLL FAN 🙌 They went to Montgomery and the Ham. Dreamland BBQ is better in Tuscaloosa than anywhere 😋😜. Love You Reuben 😍😘

As an Alabamian, Noah,I am offended that no one mentioned fried pies in this segment. It's complicated. Some folks swear peach cobbler is the thing (most of those folks live in Chilton county, however), but it's fried apple pies that reign! Nuff said.

I love this positive story about Alabama; they actually have a lot of natural beauty, and the people hope it's not acting for the camera, but they look friendly
I remember the Top Gear guys driving down in the south (Might have been Alabama) with slogans painted on their cars to tease a reaction. Man, they certainly got one.

I lived in Alabama for a couple years, 2008 to 2009. I lived in Elberta which is halfway between Mobile and Pensacola Florida. It was very difficult to make friends. ♥️
What makes my opinion correct? Facts.
Fun to note: while they were talking about protecting old growth forest and pointing out the trees cut by paper companies... there wasn't any old growth forest in sight, neither cut down or not.
