Akuma: Mortis Immortal (Arcade) - No Continues - 100,593

Ойындар

Here is probably the first-ever recorded 1CC (no continue/no death playthrough) of Akuma: Mortis Immortal, an obscure 2005 horror light gun game by Gamewax. This game was never ported, and it was considered lost for years until its files were shared online recently, making it unofficially playable on PC. I'm playing this using a GUN4IR. In this run I also scored over 100,000 points.
Akuma is a quirky game with seven levels, in which you fight demons and spirits. There's a unique "charge" shot mechanic similar to Konami's Evil Night. Another mechanic involves shooting one of three cards during a stage; some give you extra lives, others yield weapon power ups or a minigame where you must shoot this Jester villain while avoiding hostages (who deduct lives if shot).
This game has the novelty of being super rare going for it, as well as some...interesting boss designs, atmospheric music, and a surprisingly balanced difficulty. But it's a very short experience, and it seems like there's no branching paths, so it's not going to keep me coming back as much as House of the Dead does. At any rate, I'm thankful this "lost" game has been preserved in some way.

I'm playing this at about 45 FPS. This game was optimized specifically for the older PC-based hardware that it originally ran on; any higher frame rate thusly will make the game run too fast. I even had issues running this game at 60FPS.
It seems that you generally want to use the charge shot as much as you can; it one-shots most enemies and does heavy damage on bosses. The game has a letter grading system which seems to be based on accuracy. The Jester minigame sucks because it puts you at risk of losing lives, but it is worth points, and likely helped me score over 100K in the run.
In its current state, the game is playable, however I think the charge shot is supposed to only charge when the gun is pointed off screen. Here, it will just charge if you don't press the trigger at all. Unless this is actually the correct behavior I imagine that will be fixed in the future. That problem makes the Jester minigame worse, when you're waiting for him to pop up but don't want a big charge shot to potentially hit hostages.
There are no health ups outside of the random "heart" cards, which give you two lives back. It seems that most enemy and boss attacks deduct half a life from you. I haven't found any branching paths yet and would be surprised if any exist. It seems like a pretty linear game.
The arcade cabinet was unique in that it had a projector system to show characters on-screen. Obviously this special effect won't translate to the unofficial PC port.

It's fun, may get a bit old after a while since it's short and linear, but pretty neat game overall in terms of mechanics and the original cabinet. I do want to revisit this game and record a no-damage run at some point.

Hey there, thanks for watching! My biggest advice to anyone wanting to get better at light gun games is just to play them repeatedly. Enemy spawn locations are often fixed and can be memorized, and you'll start figuring out how each enemy behaves and how to deal with them. Practice makes perfect. For this game specifically you can also kill many enemies quickly using charge shots, however it's risky because you have to wait for the gun to charge, leaving you open to attacks. You can still kill them with the regular bullets, it will just take more shots to defeat them. The card mechanic can give you health back but it's completely random, there's no strategy to it. Pay attention to boss weak points and focus on those targets to damage them. If you see flying projectiles from enemies, shoot them down as quickly as possible before focusing on other attacking enemies. These are just a few tips -- hope they'll help. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for watching. I'm not a big fan of Time Crisis 5, but in the future I will make a video covering it. I think it's the easiest Time Crisis to no damage. A lot of the scoring involves getting high combos and good accuracy, and some stages have very valuable time bonuses if you clear them quickly.

@@Multibrawlr , and oh yeah!, i forgot, DO NOT LET ROBERT SHOOT YOU IN THE END, because some Time Crisis 5 score attack videos could have been completed with no damage if it weren't for that (letting the targets run out of time), i know you could do it!, i believe in you man!
