I’ve been using AKASO cameras for years. I’ve never been disappointed. Besides making a great product they have a fantastic customer service department. This new elite will soon be joining the other AKASOs I have in my working collection.

Yes its a great little camera, easy to use and set up. Like all action cameras, it can over heat if shooting in 4K if shooting over 45 minutes. No problem in lower resolutions. I was tempted with the Gopro Hero 7 Black, but it seems like there are still too many issues, so will stick with the Akaso Elite as there are plenty of features Ive yet to explore.

@@tunerzane7992 Yes it does get hot if you shoot for long sessions over 45 minutes especially if you shoot in 4K. I have three action cameras, including the Hero 7 Black and they all get warm.. If you make videos just for KZread then your best to shoot in 1080p as they always down res your videos. Even though I own a Gopro, I still think the Akaso V50 Elite is an excellent camera.

Yeah, the image quality is in fact good. Perhaps the best out of a camera with the IMX 078 sensor. They've balanced the color profile much better than than other brands.

Very nice composition on the still of the tree at 6:22. Great video, keep up the good work!

Centaurus : Hello ! Good to see you on here checking out the review ! I am seriously thinking about buying this camera , mainly due to the 4k quality offered on this rubberized coating action camera . Honestly I had ordered a Panasonic camera with 4K and 400mm zoom features 3 weeks ago ….. With a discounted sales price tag of $599 + Tax + SD card + 2yr Extended Warranty from the top camera store in my city of residence ! Well then with a final price tag of almost $800 Dollars afterwards , just so I may be able to go out to film the woods & forests for the elusive Bigfoot ! SURPRISE !!! First of all the camera was on backorder during the sales event , that was only on for a further two weeks from placing my order ! Second ~ The Panasonic counter sales rep , was one of the worst I have ever met in person !!! Absolutely no help whatsoever to set up a sophisticated menu to take a single picture , from either the two cameras I was interested in..... With myself being a beginner photographer & just learning the ropes of how the camera works after only viewing a single tutorial ! *[ I have worked in Electrical sales in the past including counter sales , receiving top salesman of the month awards on several occasions ! ]* Third ~ I did not receive a single call back from the sales rep during the final two weeks of the sale , until the final day around 4:30 PM in the late afternoon on a Friday ! Needless to say I did not go to get that camera , even though the Camera store held over the sales price till Sunday 6:00 PM closing ! Finally , I have been studying all the different aspects involved with functions of digital cameras before , during and after placing the order for the expensive camera ……. Finally absorbing all the info necessary of what makes a digital camera tick ! Luckily I did not buy a camera with no weather sealing , due to where I live there is always rain or moisture in the air , plus severe dust and salt spray that will easily get into a camera's body / lenses !!! Throw in the cat hair inside my apartment , along with a single hard smack/drop and the fixed lens on that camera would've of been toast !!! Now after viewing this video on the Akaso V50 Elite , I am seriously thinking of purchasing this camera along with the electronic gimbal . The price is 1/4 one quarter of the Panasonic , with just as good features or better on the Akaso V50 Elite including 4k 60 fps / 4K 30 E.I.S. , plus the waterproof casing allows me to film during all kinds of inclement weather ! Not just on sunny days /calm nights with no wind for the Panasonic , or else you risk damaging your expensive camera(s) !!! Thanks Scarboro/Tom *One day soon you will be able to view my research footage/info on the Bigfoot or Sasquatch , which should make up for the length of this comment !

@@scarborosasquatchstation1403 Wow! Tom! This is my go to channel for Camera reviews as the Guy tries to answer as many queries as he can, without Bias and BS. Regarding the camera, I would never buy an expensive one ever again, as they are updated every 6 months and your $ 500 camera will be second best under a $200 new model, within a year. These Action Cameras are great for Image Stabilisation, external microphone[ Bought separate $10] and overall 4K quality and you get about 3 hours of video out of a single charge. I got 2 batteries with mine, monkey friendly touch screen menu, waterproof case, packets of accessories and I did an online review and AKASO sent me a load more accessories. Two vital things to be mentioned though which nobody mentions is.....You cannot pause when In video mode and there is no zoom feature, these maybe important when looking for your Elusive Cryptids. Another great channel is Chigz Tech Reviews who has a chart on all the pro's and Con's of every camera reviewed, every detail is covered and would highly recommend a visit before parting with any cash. Having Swiss Blood, I usually like things perfect but they are all basically the same components nowadays. Hope I have helped a little. Thanks.

Plus the mention of another great channel Chigz Tech Reviews is definitely something I will check out . While I do have access to an older Canon point and shoot for the time being to do the zoom part , it is still very limited in its capabilities . Yes , the pause not being continuous on video mode may be an issue , unless it can be edited out the unwanted footage ….. Except for the drain on the battery & memory card ! I hear you also on todays features on the pricey cameras , end up tomorrow's discounted deals only six months later when a mark i , ii ,iii etc. ….! Finally JVC and now Canon [ clone ] have quad proof camcorders with their feature of water , dust , shock & freeze proof something to consider , since they are under $500 !!! Thanks Tom

It says no internet connection with my iPhone and akaso dv app, it works with my android phone but it send crash videos when it’s up 2,7 it works only with 1080, I use a good memory card or what I need exactly? Would you recommend this camera for a long distance bike trip?? I kinda want to document the trip having the camera on a bike mount at 4K-30FPS with EIS. It would be my very first action Cam by the way. I'd love your opinion on that. Thanks for the video!

I think it will be well suitable for your purpose, yes, If it is a long-distance trip - think about spare batteries, or if you prefer no interruption - think about mounting a power bank on the bike as well - having something like 5000mah will guarantee at least another three hours of operation. The model is excellent for a first action camera - packs good features at a good price. The V50 Pro is also suitable, doing similar job, and being slightly better in low light.

In terms of video quality, what should do best. Sony Alpha 5000 or this one? Mainly for daytime recording, where I just climb on a rock not higher than 5 meters. Exposure to sunlight would be important too. It's hard to compare both....

The SOny Alpha's sensor is huge compared to the one in this actioncam, so the footage there will look better.

Hey titiwiti2001 - there are some cameras with attempts, but none of them come even close... The SJ8 Pro has FLAT mode (which is not flat at all). but is at least something. Perhaps the Yi 4K Plus is a good idea - the bitrate is high and it allows for good colorgrading.

Thank you very much for your review! Can you please let me know if I can use 128GB microSDH card or not? Because only at that memory capacity can get a recording of 90MB/s or more... the 64 GB allows only recording only up to 60 MB/s... What do you recommend as a microSDH card? Please provide a link on where to buy it and which brand?

I haven't tested a 128GB card - but it should work. This camera won't need anything quicker than 60Mbps (not MegaByte, we talk about Megabits) - so even slower cards will do fine.

How do the timelapses from this camera look? Is there an option to have a video or photo timelapse? (I'm asking for the photo timelapse option, as the images from the camera at night looked much better than the video made at night) Also can you connect a powerbank for long timelapses?

Hi neha anil - yes, yes and yes :) You can have both timelapse modes, and it works with external battery.

Hey Dimcho, благодаря за милите думи! :-) It can handle extreme sports they way you see it - stabilization is not that perfect and won't give you the best kind of footage if environment is very dynamic. In my opinion, right now there are four cameras where stabilization is really good: GoPro Hero 6, GoPro Hero 7, SJCAM SJ8 Pro and SJCAM SJ8 Plus.

I think the Pro is better in some ways. Difference is really slight, as the hardware is quite similar. DIfference is the image sensor - the Pro has Panasonic, the Elite uses SOny, however an outdated model.

THe EK7000 are a bit smaller as far as I remember - they are the same as those in Firefly 8SE.

I'd suggest checking the comments below my SJ8 Pro review before deciding. 🙃 Both models are good, the Sj8 pro is superior, but it is a company known for disrespecting its support and warranty obligations.

Hi Abdul - I edit my reviews in 30fps, therefore even if I include 60fps,they are downscaled, or I slow them down. So yeah - it is real 4K 60fps. The 120 fps is just not that sharp and detailed, but the framerate is fine and it is not skippy.

This is probably my #1 option coming up on the holiday season. Anybody have opinions on which I should choose? Either this at $140. Or at my local costco they have a GoPro Hero 5 black bundle (camera, bag and some accessories) for $200. I'm aware that the gopro doesn't shoot 4k at 60 FPS and that's a benefit for the Akaso but given file size, I'll probably be shooting at 1080 60 FPS or 120 most of the time for standard shooing. The 4k stuff is just extras that's nice to have.

Hey Steve, your question is quite awesome because there can be a few different opinions, depending on what the priority is :-) If we compare hardware - although hero 5 doesn't stabilize 4K, it has the much better sensor (IMX 117 is still among the best on the market and better than IMX 078). GoPro Has better display and in my opinion - better UI. Don't get me wrong - I review a lot of budget action cameras because I believe there is better ratio performance-price than GoPro, but if "price" is not the leading factor, I'd pick the Hero 5. The V50 Elite is also wonderful, especially for the price, and it makes better sense if your priority was 4K. Since it is not, maybe GoPro will suit you better. To tell you something funny... I had an issue with the battery of my Hero 7. They replaced it with a battery for Gopro Hero ...5 :-)

For sports sound quality doesn't matter, but for travel videography I think sound is very important. V50 elite's microphone recordings sound really bad to my ears.

Dji presented pocket osmo gimbal today, 4k60 and quite a good sound recording also. Some issues also with Auto focusing (may turn it off for fixed focus) and field of view just 80° (still ok for vlogging and traveling - not for sports).

Hi, nice video - can you please tell me how the sound quality is like on the V50 Elite when it is underwater in its housing and also if the camera can be plugged in via a power source incase batteries are not charged. I was thinking of getting the GoPro Hero 7 but saw that Elite is nearly as good as the GoPro. Thanks

The sound quality of the V50 Elite underwater is almost missing, because it is in a waterproof case and it won't quite get much of sounds. But you are right - overall the image quality is quite good and is not that far from the Hero 7.

Tech4All thanks for getting back to me. I've pretty much decided to go for the GoPro Hero 7, I think for the extra features that they are offering in the camera, the app connectivity and for the superb video quality, it's worth the extra £££. I may buy the Akaso also at a later time if I need a second cam, but for my first cam, I am seriously leaning towards the Hero 7.

How does the audio sound with the waterproof housing on? I know some versions of the GoPro were pretty bad with the enclosure on? Thanks

Sounds like them 🙃 (I mean the GoPros with the enclosures). It sounds very faint and without wide frequency response because it is in a closed environment.

Hello ... what's the better 1080p 120fps : this one or firefly 8SE ( or another ... like sjcam sj8 plus ) .. same question for 60 fps Is possible that a firmware upgrade can improve video on the Elite ..? How is possible that video is better on the PRO version .. this one supposed the be of lower quality ?

The firefly 8SE has better 120FPS than this one. The Pro and the Elite share the same chipset, and the sensor on the Elite is Sony, but a fairly old model.

Hi, good video. One thing I am after, and cant find in any videos is 'How good is the zoom?' - This seems to have the most out of action cameras i have seen - 8 x digital, but how grainy does it get? Thanks

It only works for lower resolution and I would never recommend using any kind of digital zoom. Best thing to do is to record in 4K, which will allow you generously zooming if you do the final production in 1080p via software.

Take a look at the V50X - pretty good for the price range.

Not sure if you’re still replying to comments years later, but I’m a little confused. The V50 elite you showed has no touch screen, however the one I’m looking at on Amazon does. Could they have updated it since it came out but kept the same name? Also, I was wondering if you have any other action cameras under $200 that you would recommend. I’m in a bit of a time crunch right now, I’m gonna have an opportunity to film night vision from a helicopter in a few days so I need to order a camera ASAP!

I am, of course. But sometimes am a little late. There has been a new revision with a touch screen, release short after I published the vid. Last week DJI action 2 was available for $230. It is a lot better than the Akaso about image quality.

Hi, thanks for the great reviews. Been watching a few KZread videos over the last couple of weeks and yours have been the most helpful. I’m looking for an action camera, we are not into extreme sports or professional video making. We are looking for an action camera to record footage of our travels, things like site seeing, places of interest, but no action sports. I really like the Akaso, but can’t make up my mind between the Brave 4, V50 Pro and V50 Elite. What would you recommend between the three. I only want to buy something that i actually need to get the job done. Any assistance would help.

Hm, I don't think such a connection is possible. You may use the camera's remote instead.

The Yi 4K + is way better in my opinion. The other really good model is the new DJI Osmo Action; Alternatively you may check for second-hand GoPro Hero 6 - they are also quite awesome!

Maybe I skimmed over it, but for some reason I don't recall any interest in the fastest frame rate, 240 fps. It it real? Because I'm very interested in it for smooth slow motion videos.

It is real only in 720P. And on any monitor above 20 inch it will look horrible. It will look very bad on most smartphones too. The 1080 120FPS is bad, and you can imagine the 240fps on 720p is much worse :\

What’s really amazing is how much GoPro is make on their cameras, I’m getting one of these instead! 😀

From what I see online - it seems to do a better job with sharpness and stabilization. It will be one of the next things to test and try, and there will be a review soon or later. Perhaps later, as I want to see how it feels in the long-run.

Are there also some budget 1080p 60 fps drone cameras out there under 100$?

Sure! A lot :-) Firefly 8S/8SE, the Mijia 4K, Yi Lite. Akaso V50 Pro also does pretty good job. Note that they don't give you real-time FPV, unless you install a transmission system.

Frend 1080p 120fps its only slow motion video? Can I record normal video in this resolution 1080p 120fps ?

There is the option to record 1080p 120FPS as normal video - yes. However the quality will be significantly worse than at 60 and 30 FPS.

It hurts me a lot to say that (cause I believe SJCAM's attitude towards customers is unfair and often unethical), but I'd absolutely go for the SJ8 Pro. A good idea is to check the review about the Pro, as some of the early batches have issues (still unsolved). The one that I have now is fine - it is manufactured in July.

I got this camera for Christmas. It is my first action camera. I figured it would make a good starter camera for the price point and review information. Did you have any trouble with the voice activation or setting it up? I can't get it to work consistently. Did you download the APP Akaso DV to use with your cell phone and/or have problems with it? For some reason it doesn't work with My HTC Desire Eye so I'm wondering if I am missing a setting somewhere or if you had any problems using your own phone with the APP and camera. There were others on the APP feedback section for the APP. As far as I can figure, most of the people that says the APP works fine are using a Samsung device. This explains why the APP works with my Samsung tablet I guess. Your stand with the blue padding looks different from the one I received with my camera. Is this your own? Your camera is blue too. This is odd. Mine is all black or rather a dark grey. I know you are reviewing the product here, but since you are so familiar with the product and product line, can you do a tutorial on setting the camera up for best indoor or outdoor pictures? I know you can use auto, but some creator users say auto does not get you the best pictures and yours look really good. Most of their editing examples are for the GoPro not the Akaso. Right now I get the fish eye distortion when I record. I picked up Adobe Premiere Elements 2019 to edit videos for my future youtube channel (still learning how to do that) and to edit my camera videos/photos to improve their quality. I'd done some research on gopro and other cameras where they talked about this and some said the editing software can fix this. Can you tell me if that is so, or if there is a setting in the camera I am missing to fix it. Also, I'm not getting close to what you are for footage I take so I figure I must be doing something wrong. Since my hands shake sometimes, I have to use the steady mode or tripod. I am talking to Akaso. They do provide quick email turnaround, however, I have been working on this for about a week and half and I think there may be a bit of a language barrier. When they tell me to do something, they don't give me step by step instructions. When they ask for information, they don't tell me where to find it or how to locate it. They suggested I reload the firmware, however it's not in camera settings and I can't find it anywhere. So we are going back and forth making sure I am doing things correctly to gather the information I need to find out what's going on. Now they are asking for a video, and I'm not sure if they want me to take a video with the camera or to use another camera to take a video of me trying to do the things I am having trouble with using on the camera. So I had to send them a email with that information and any other that I think might help them figure it out. Been doing that all along. Computer games are so much easier to trouble shoot. I email I have a problem. They say pull file XX, post the error message if there is one. Post your system information and provide as detailed description as possible to them. So I'm trying to do that for them. I purchased this over the GoPRO7 Black because of the 200.00 price difference and the fact that I never owned them before. The picture quality all of the reviewers were showing were good and several of you did side by side with the GP7Black. There was some difference, but not enough to warrant the $200 for a novice user like me. I do wish they had their own editing software like GoPro does. I was buying the software I bought for editing obs footage and figured they would have a way to edit action camera files. I did find out I was right, but I'm still not certain how well it works with action videos. Thanks any information/help form you would be great. If there are any other users out there, please jump in and tell me what you are doing to get great quality for your videos and if you are having trouble. Oh and where do I get a screen protector for my camera? I must be looking up the wrong thing because I keep getting cell phone and tablet screen protectors when I search Amazon. thanks

Hi Miniblaze, I believe you just nailed it with the longest comment on the channel I've ever seen :-) Let's see how far I can help: First of all - congratulations about this purchase - it is a very good action camera and is excellent for a starter. The App used is Akaso DV, yes. And it works fine, as long as you switch off your mobile data. SOme of the phones will require to keep location services ON during that time too. Many ANdroid 9.0 phones seem to have complications with talking to devices - soon or later this will improve. Yes, the stand is different and I used it for the shooting session. Also - you may see it as a blue tint, because I have used some color grading, and because of the bad light when I was increasing the exposure, it went a little bit in direction blue-ish. If you look at it under sunlight it looks rather dark grey. There is one very simple rule for the pictures outdoors - having GOOD light. This is essential rule not only for action cameras, but for photography in general. With action cameras it may be even more important, as their setup is very small, and that limits a lot the post-production possibilities. All the footage that is recorded with the camera is genuine and not touched - colors are as they are with their standard profile. But it is looking good due to the reason the light was good and the day was nice and shiny. At the moment it is winter and there is no way I can get near this kind of quality with the current weather conditions here :-) So - in most of the time - there is no need to do some adjustments. For GoPro it will make sense, but for this Akaso model - not quite. Furthermore - sometimes there might be settings that could worsen the quality. I almost always shoot in Auto mode, except with the GoPro. YOu may focus more on shooting in good light, and this will pay off in time. Most likely ther Akaso support team won't be able to help with more information, because they are specialized at troubleshooting hardware issues - and you are mostly on your way to get more experience. And perhaps you already are most experienced in shooting than Akaso's engineers :-) But if they want a video - they perhaps ask about your way of doing things + a sample - in case you state there is something wrong with the footage. Fixing the distortion ... I cannot recommend too many options. Perhaps DaVinci Rewsolve may be able to do that with its free version, but I am not sure. I usually use Premiere Pro; But I like the wide angle in dynamic scenes and tend to leave it as it is :-) And also - as far as I remember you have software adjustments for the FOV - that eliminates most of the distoritons. As for a screen protector - there was one on mine, when I was unboxing it. Didn't you have one on your unit? Easiest thing is to create a DIY protector - from an phone protector. Just cut it carefully and it will do the job :-) Well - let's hope this is helpful for a start. I can see you are very curious and this leads to significant improvements of your skills - the more you do it, the better you become!

I had questions and I wanted to make sure you had all of the information to answer them with. I've been playing around with my akaso and it does get a nice shot. I think it might be very good for the money for a novice like me. I did find a setting on the camera for distortion, but it also depends on what your video resolution is. At least that is what one user is saying on Amazon. Still playing with that. I really couldn't afford to spend 700 on a proper camera for youtube which is part of what this is for as well as travel videos when I go on trips. Wanted the water protection because we sometimes go around water or out in the rain and I didn't want to worry about it getting wet. That's was what made this so good. I also don't think it works very well with HTC Desire Eye. I don't know if it is a memory issue or what. After all, it is the camera doing the recording not the phone. The phone is supposed to be acting as a remote viewer if I understand this correctly. Not sure what the trouble is there. I might see if the AT&T store has answers but I doubt it. It may be that I have to use my tablet as a viewer. I let it run while responding to your note. I used 4k setting just to see what would happen. I'm not sure if this affects things or not. I'm not really sure what a good setting will be for me to record with to get the best results on KZread. I plan on recording some demonstration videos with it. Anyhow, it finally froze up on my tablet at 5min or so, but I think the camera kept working as a recorder. That was something that it did not do w/ my phone. The file sizes were 3 min not sure what is going on there. I'm trying to figure out if I have a setting to adjust there. It started the 2nd file on it's own. I would really prefer 1 big file. Not sure if there is a setting on that I'm missing. I turned the record off on my tablet and that worked too, but didn't work on the phone and when I started recording, it looked like it wasn't recording on the tablet, but when I took a look at the footage it was recording. Not sure what to make of this whole situation. The tablet did not freeze or have to reboot to work again. I have a 128 gb scandisk and it is the correct one (3). Is it too big? There was still 111gb on it so it wasn't full. I really can't see this being useful to someone snowboarding/diving/riding a bike if the files behave like that. There must be a setting somewhere. I was actually thinking about trying it for bike riding in the spring to see what all I could film with it. There is a slight delay on my movement and what the camera shows on the tablet. Just noticeable but not bad. Could also be some sort of interference from my blue tooth stuff. I have a blue tooth mouse and keyboard. I noticed on the camera screen there looked be some interference. It was sitting near my swing arm holding my unplugged snowball. It recorded the interference too. I'm not sure what the deal with that is, because it is happening down at my level and it didn't before. I am starting to wonder if there is some flaw with the camera. There were definitely lines on the video too. Not sure if that is interference or a defective camera. Since the remote is not working properly and Akaso has already offered to switch it out. I think I'll send the whole thing back to Amazon and have them send me another camera. Maybe these are signs there is something wrong on the camera. The top of the camera over the lens is getting hot the longer I use it. As soon as I stopped recording it started cooling. It's almost back to normal temp now. The remote didn't want to do voice control, but the buttons worked. I finally got it to work for the first time yesterday but it was hit or miss and more miss. The buttons worked fine, but there was a slight delay in the cameras reactions to the button commands and what voice commands I could use when they worked. So if it's okay I'll get back with you when I get my replacement, I'd like to talk to you about the settings. I should be okay to keep those posts shorter. I hope you don't mind my questions. I'm hoping if I can learn more and work out what's going on with someones more experienced help, it can help others. Sorry about the length of this post. Thanks for all of your help. It really seem to be a nice camera if I can work the issues out.

@@miniblaze4634 Hey - no worries about the post length - it is very good to have constructive discussions, and this will certainly help other people that are looking to get their hands on this Akaso cam. Any kind of interference should not cause any lines on the video - and perhaps you are right that a replacement makes good sense. Voice commands - ... errr :-) They have never been great, not even on the |GoPro hero series. Sometimes they will work, sometimes - not that much. The 128GB card is a good option, especially if you have a U3 card. If it is U1 or just class 10 - then you better avoid recording in 4K. For youtube - if you record at a higher resolution, you will have more room for cropping, if you release your production in 1080P. However if you want to edit 4K videos - the investment in a properly working PC may be quite serious, as 4K is very demanding about hardware. So if that doesn't work too well - you may keep 1080p and be more careful with what is being framed/filmed. Fingers crossed you to have good luck with the replacement and to see your first youtube production with it 🤓

If you shoot a lot, you will like the Hero 7 Black a lot. And if you don't like it you can always sell it or swap it for something else :) But - yeah, I believe you've made an excellent choice.

Hi Mike, unfortunately there is no RAW option. Action cams with RAW shooting are SJCAM Sj7 & SJ8 Pro, as well as Firefly 8SE.

They indeed have a lot of similarities. The Driving Mode enables the camera to power on when there is powe source connected and to immediately start recording. After power is disconnected, the camera automatically stops - similar to most dashcams' algorithm. The normal mode will switch on the camera on power connected, but will not start recording.

No, there is none filter in the menus.

My Akaso Elite stopped working with less than an hour's use. Customer services pretty much disowned it because I'm not in the USA. They just lost a customer.

Honestly, I like the Mijia 4K way better - it has better hardware and only drawback is the lack of 4K stabilization. So if you expect this to be an upgrade - not really...

I render my videos at 30FPS. There are a few segments of 60fps which are slowed down to 30 fps so that you can see each of the frames. Working on 60fps comparison video, it will be entirely shot at 60 :-)

Tough to say. I am overall not a fan of the IMX 078 sensor, and ... if I had to choose something for me - I'd go for the Seabird. But the Elite is quite good.

I bought this camera in February 2019 and IT DOES HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN. It must have been addressed in a firmware update. Works great.

@@antonioluzzi4140 They will most likely get stock in UK, which will be better. In fact sometimes duty+import taxes are almost equal to the official "EU" price. But it indeed adds a lot on top of the item. In my case - the addition to the original price was around 39USD, shipped to Germany.

I wonder why no reviewers of this camera (yet) talk about the 8x zoom feature? Or did I miss it? :)

Because this is digital zoom, and is available in lower resolutions. A marketing trick to attract potential buyers, which has doubtful application in real life. GoPro also has a zoom feature. So does the SJ8 Pro.

True that! Reason is that it is hard to offer good quality when zoomed (something like the zoom on smartphones) - it worsens the quality. The benefit with some 4K cameras is that the 1080p can be zoomed - it just makes a "cropped 4K" which is sort of lossless.

It's June 2023. My Android phone is over 5 years old is too "NEW" for the AKASO DV app. Consequently my V50 Elite purchased 3 months ago can't link to my phone. If you are shopping by feature beware, software is obsolete. Also, there is no external microphone capability to this model what so ever, not even the Akaso proprietary microphone.

The angle is too wide, and you can make a photo of the sky, but it will be pretty hard to make a good photo. Maybe with consistency and a lot of photoshop there will be progress, but ... I believe you should look for a camera with narrow lens and much larger sensor - action cameras are not that great for low light footage.

You mention that the Elite doesn't have a touch screen, but it does. And when comparing it with the Hero in the night shot you say it doesn't come close in terms of Video Stabilisation, yet the Hero image is much worse, jumping and going out of focus. Have a look at you own video....Any comments

Hi Joe , thanks for the input. The first batch of the Elite had no touch screen. I was not aware that they plan to release next batches with touch. As for the night footage - yes - when stabilization is ON, the Elite is doing better, but with stabilization OFF (gimbal instead) situation is different. That doesn't change the fact that the V50 Elite is well tuned for most shooting scenes/modes. 🙃

I think this a a good affordable action camera for people who don’t want to golf over 500 bucks for a go pro hero 9

I have firefly 8s 90 with moded firmware by nutsey it disables noise reduction, sharpness, contrast, lowers saturation and inreases bitrate for all resolutions :). 4k 100mbps looks better then any prosumers camcorder uder $1000 without zoom lens ofcourse but I'm going to change that soon hehe :)
