Thanks for the tour....I just got my Elite, and at the price I could afford two of them to use on my motorcycle along with my GP Hero9. In some ways, I like the Akaso better than my GP-the menu scrolls and the camera doesn't freeze up. At its sale price of $119, it's a fantastic deal!

Hi there, a couple of questions. 1. I currently have the SJ8 Pro and it has terribly over saturated sky colours. Your examples of the V50 Elite seems to have more realistic sky colours. Would you agree this is the case? 2. The SJ8 Pro and the V50 Elite both have .Raw option for photos, yet there is currently no way you can extract a useable image from the .Raw file on the Sj8 Pro. Have you tried on the V50 Elite? And can you let me know if it creates as .dng file, or if you still need to convert the .raw to .dng? 3. I see you are in the beautiful city of Christchurch. We were there last year and our sympathies over the recent terror incident (not a question, sorry). The question is about frame rates. I live in Australia which shares the same 50hz power you have in NZ. I realise both cameras have 50/60hz power options, which is fine, but the SJ8 Pro also has 50 and 25 fps as well as the more universal 60/30/24 fps (speaking all about 4K here). The V50 Elite only has 60/30/24 fps in 4K. For editing I am using Da Vinci Resolve Studio (I'm a beginner with this), however in Australia, will I find any issues with a camera that does not have 50 or 25 fps? 4. Final thing - sorry for so many questions - Photos in SJ8 are 12MP max, whereas in the V50 Elite, 20MP, although off same size sensor. I also have a Mavic 2 Pro drone and two Sony 1" sensor cameras; all of 20MP and fantastic image quality. What is your opinion on image quality of V50 Elite compared to SJ8 Pro in relation to still photos? Appreciate your input as I am really dissatisfied with the SJ8 Pro and contemplating swapping for the V50 Elite, but wondering if I would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire? Cheers, Sean

I've ordered it for 4k 60 fps H265, didn't see this review before...Sadly no H265 (in 2019 !?)...unable to set a different bitrates too, i guess...and added to this, it's probably heavier than a V50 pro, so not useable with normal gimball...Akaso indicates me 600g (with all accessories...perhaps...), that's seems quite heavy...

which resolution should i use to avoid the fishbowl look but with image stabilization?

Great video, thanks for the insight. Have a couple of quick questions if you don't mind, What is the footage of the V50 elite live vs the MGCool Explorer 3/V50 pro? I´m not worried about 60fps as ill be using 4k 30 exclusively. As ive seen a few other videos comparing the two and I can´t make up my mind which is better. Also I´ve noticed on the V50 range the cameras really seem to crush the blacks, is it possible to save a significant amount in post or does it have a decent flat profile? Can you manually set shutter speed and iso ranges?

They're about the same price right now, I'd go for whichever is less expensive. Unless you really care between bigger screen (Pro) or more buttons (Elite). I recommend the more buttons if you'll be using it in a waterproof case. You can buy an external mic on the V50 Pro which is cool but I cannot vouch for its quality (reviews seem poor). Right now I think the Elite is actually less expensive though with the coupon I threw in the description but the price might have changed since I last checked. Video quality is nearly identical at 4k30. Flat color profile does level things out in overcast but I haven't gotten a chance to test it extensively in bright sun. Ymmv. I'll have to go out and give it a better try... ISO and Shutter Speed (long exposure setting) are only available to set in Photo mode.

I don't think there is enough of a difference to get the Pro SE if you already have the pro.

I haven't had the Trawo myself but I have used other Apeman cams and they've been fine.

Verry informative video. I have now the V50 Elite, and I'm looking with no luck for the "auto low light" option that you show at 6:09. Could you help me find it in the menu.

Open setting, in the vid setting.. Pick any resolution and any fps except 30fps.. Still in the vid setting, scroll bottom and u can find auto low light between sound record and drive mode.. Tick on and wallaaa. It is done (i think it will reduce the fps to lower rate fps to let more light into the sensor.. That why 30 fps cant turn on auto low light because it is the min fps)

It's likely the wrong codec, convert with handbrake to something your video editor can use

did u check the sensor of this camera does not support 4k 60 it supports 2.7 24fps and the sensor is only 12 mp

How would you compare this with the V50 Pro? I read that the V50 Pro has better video and audio from many comments.

Functionality wise they're very similar. I'd get whichever is less expensive, if you don't mind giving up the physical buttons.

I just received my new V50 Elite and so far not to impressed I got it for kayak fishing and I can see that I would be messing with the camera more than fishing,batteries don't last very long at all, oh well I'll find someone to sell it too. Thanks for review.

As many reviews i watched.. Many prefer pro(better image quality) . Im the owner of elite.. It is hard to find sparepart such as battery but it is easier with v50pro. But v50 pro doesnt come with physical buttons(but v50 pro se do). Best value of money should be v50 pro.. Well try look for v50x too.. It is the most favorite among utubers lately

Have you had a chance to review the Akaso V50X? What type of chipset and sensor does it sport?

No, that cam wasn't on my radar yet. I'm honestly not sure what chipset that one is based on - in the past I have asked Akaso by email and they told me.

There's no easy way to adjust focus. Exposure can be offset in the menu under exposure compensation setting. It only makes the auto exposure brighter or darker, however

U can adjust exposure at the setting but for auto focus it cant.. It got fix lense.. However if u really want to adjust the focus really bad, open the front cover and and CAREFULLY cut the glue that attach to the lense. And from there ,adjust the focus by rotate the lense clockwise or vice versa. I suggest u to connect with wifi so u got better idea when looking at the phone screen. Hope that help u.. P/s: already change v50 elite twice😅

Why your elite is touch screen and mine not, firmware upgrade? My elite looks same external but interface is completely different, what happened?

@@lizarme6559 I think it was just a quiet upgrade. You're not missing out on much if performance is the same and you're otherwise happy with the cam, it's just the nice way to change settings. But if you are unhappy that yours doesn't have touch I'd recommend to contact Akaso directly and ask if they can help you out.

What do you want to do with the camera? SJ8 Pro is overall better build and real 4k60 but the difference isn't all that big in some ways.

Many people like the natural color of v50 pro and the quality of image is the best among v50 family according to many reviews i watched. Better eis(tight field of view)and low light for v50x. v50 pro se is basically same good as v50 pro but with physical buttons(which good for diving n ride motorcycle -touch screen are not friendly with glove). It is come with THREE batteries and the features are upgraded such as 4k60,1080p120,720p240 and etc which not available for v50 pro. The elite is not a bad camera (i own it), but the lack of an IMPORTANT feature which to connect external microphone (micro usb) is unbelievable. In addition, it cant be the best either in quality of image, eis and low light make it look bad because it is the most expensive among the others. And it is because of the name too.. ELITE. Nah cant feel the ELITENESS from it. However, i like my ELITE because i learn to be creative in post production such as color grading and post stabilazation which make the result better. Btw ELITE come with VOICE COMMAND. Well it still not good but it is there😜

Can someone explain the point of the wifi ? Am i supposed to download an ap to my phone ?

Basically you'll need the phone app. With wifi you can look at the clips you've taken, start and stop recording and change camera settings

That's because it's MJPG codec, my video editor has a history of reincoding it to look awful. Check out the raw sample I uploaded direct to YT on my channel instead.

It took me awhile to decide if I wanted the Akaso V50 Pro or Asako V50 Elite. I ended up choosing the elite one. How long does your battery last?
