Shizuka and Leina cycle their way through Akagiyama, Gunma Prefecture on a foodie bike tour, tasting 4 different local specialties and chatting with the local shopkeepers.
While biking around the Lake Onuma caldera, they bump into a fisherman with his freshly caught wakasagi (Japanese pond smelt) and try fish tempura; as well as miso oden featuring the Gunma specialty, konnyaku! In between biking and sightseeing, they also fuel up with shiru choco, a dessert made of hot chocolate, red beans, and dango, which can only be tried in Akagiyama; as well as nabewariyama ramen, the local miso-based ramen.

Is it just me or does the first site by the lake reminds you of Kirito's and Asuna's lake house at Level 22 of Aincrad in SAO? Shizuoka and Leina even met a fisherman just like in anime! I wonder if the both of them will wander into a nearby forest one day and adopt me as their son just like how Kirito and Asuna adopted Yui in the anime! 🤣 Anyway, we need to see more of Leina and Frank and so many other JapanByFood's hosts and see different kinds of food! I thought it would be men that would appear this time, because female reporters would never accept riding bike around mountain areas. So I was surprised to see Shizuka ride a bicycle without difficulty. It was fun just to watch the two girls moving around the mountainous area of Gunma Prefecture. Indeed, "Goen" means mainly good connection (from our previous life) , but sometimes we find "Kusare-en," old rotten connection that should never be entangled in but should be broken off soon.
