I honestly could listen to Tom talk for hours. He’s so fascination and I love how passionate he speaks about stuff that’s important to him. Plus look at him ageing like a fine French wine though.. fuck

That's exactly what AvA albums are about. About connecting to the strength in us, so that we can create life and reality according to ourselves. It is not destruction, but the creation of one's own environment. We Don't Need To Whisper, I-Empire, LOVE are unbeatable albums. Thank you for this interview.

If you can see yourself differently, you can change yourself. And if you can change yourself, you can change the world around you. And if you can change the world around you, you can change the world itself - Tom Delonge
The fact Tom is constantly evolving, just like the elements is what makes him inspiring. We can fight the current or go with it. 💧 can flow, or it can crash... there's always obstacles like 🪨 in a river. Rapids vs streams

He’s a tithead that doesn’t keep it real and is too damn serious now. It’s so stark that it seems to me he either was fake as can be with his celebrity, or he’s totally full of himself now, or both.

Thank you both so much for this conversation. The most beautiful and necessary conversations in this lifetime are between artists; talking about art, trading art, and trading insights about making art. The opposite of war isn’t love, it’s art my dudes! AJ, I deeply appreciate you taking the time to ask Tom these questions. I find he’s often spoken to in interviews as only a musician and not as a wholistic artist making art projects. More of this please! Here are some thoughts from one artist to two others: AJ, I’d love to know more about what you like about Japanese music? You wouldn’t have mentioned it if it wasn’t immensely special to you. Also I have to say that your approach to story telling, with the way you wrote the chapters in Sekret Machines, is narratively riveting! You told a story through a bunch of unique lenses, which no small thing, and it is so compelling! I read book 1, I have a lot more reading to do, but thank you for your work. It’s dope as hell. Tom, doing deep dives into the archives of classic rock masters is an awesome way to do music research! I invite you to ponder something. Your core skills now extend outside of music, and that includes story telling _and_ research! How do you do story research that isn't reading? You like movies right? You mention how you would take Dune and tell that story through the lens of a California skateboarder? These are the most interesting stories! Retelling stories through your cultural lens! I know this is weird and you don’t know me, but I’ve known your work as an artist intimately for the last 20 years, and there’s a few movies I think you should watch if you haven’t yet. They have roughly the same budget that Love had, one is made and produced in Montreal, Quebec, the french speaking part of Canada, and other is Irish. They’re both 1000% fucking awesome. (Trigger warning though there’s a lot of over the top comic book style gore in both.) Extra Ordinary is a hilarious paranormal comedy about ghosts, satanism, a rockstar, dick jokes and a wooden dick staff kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmWI2K5uiq-cg8Y.html - It’s completely hilarious and so awesome to see a paranormal story told in Irish comedy. Turbo Kid is a Canadian horror comedy and art project about a romance set in a post-apocolyptic 80s fever-dream. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3qgvJiphtfUppM.html - This one will hit you right in the feels. Apple is my spirit animal! It’s also scored by a fawkin D O P E french Canadian producer called Le Matos open.spotify.com/album/4SU5mHR8JrNDWNKjPPhhic?si=LgnE49ajT1qNtaKesGE0OA, and there’s an indie video game coming out for it soon!! www.turbokidgame.com/en/home. There are secret crowds of artists like you hiding in the world, I can appreciate that it would be hard to find them in popular culture circles. However the internet is NEAT. There's a lot more where that came from. Please enjoy, thanks again to you both for all your work, and letting me listen to your dope convo!

Thank you for this interview. I'm a spiritual person myself, learning from many places and often wonder how far down the rabbit hole Tom goes and how he applies it. Wow, that was great, AJ! Been an AVA fan since 2006 (didn't have a clue who Tom Delong was at the time, haha). AVA's music GRABBED me and shook me right the f**k up. It always has given me full body chills and massive adrenaline rushes. Doesn't matter if I've heard an AVA song hundreds of times, it still moves me. I'm definitley addicted. Tom's tunes and tones harmonize with my wavelength, I guess. I have a TON of respect for Tom and hope he continues his musical journey, because to me, the music is the fuel, the driving force. The "Sekret Machine" providing access to many, many souls. Of course, I've read all the books and love them. Great work, Mr. Hartley. They're entertaining AND informative AND fun AND thought provoking, so THANK YOU! One more thing... Japanese music, huh? I'll just put it this way, my dream concert is Angels and Airwaves playing Red Rocks Ampitheatre in my home state of Colorado, co-headlining with a little band named...Band-Maid. Let us maniphest THAT! Trust me, it'll be "Heaven"! Thanks again! 🕊

Interesting video. It's always fascinating hearing how someone's mind works and how their creative juices flow. Tom is such a multi-dimensional character, perhaps in more ways than we think. I ordered your two Sekret Machine books a few days back and one arrived the day this video went live. Of course, A Fire Within arrived first (book 2) and I am still waiting on Chasing Shadows (book 1) to come. It was out of stock at Amazon and they have said it will be about two weeks. I am hoping that by reading between the lines of these two novels it will give me a little more insight into what Tom was talking about in the second half of this video. Keep the great work coming, professor.

@@user-jk3xv4qz7m I think he was just really nervous on Rogan - who was oddly skeptical and confrontational for some reason that day, which really didn’t help the situation. Tom was much more comfortable and self aware here…and while you’d have to have a basic understanding of metaphysics and quantum theory to follow everything he was saying towards the end, this is quite possibly the most articulate he’s been in explaining his theories on consciousness.

Every time I look at Tom these days he’s talking endlessly about himself. :( Anyone that has to say they lost their ego and they got so humble is usually definitely not those things, and that’s the sense I get about you, my idol… please come back down to earth. “Nobody’s ever asked me that,” but yet he has told the same stories every fucking time he talks.
