NTA, OP's wife must have such thin skin if she is so upset about her husband not going out of his way to introduce herself to Jen considering he was caught off guard. Maybe when she is in a similar situation, she'll understand where he was coming from. Or not, and they can end up having a divorce because OP won't stand for double standards.

Thoughts; 1. You aren't an AH, youre socially awkward and were caught flat-footed. 2. It should have been common courtesy to your wife to introduce her to your ex. 3. If you're married, you should be wearing a ring. Jen should have spotted this immediately and connected the dots. 4. Your wife is insecure. She saw you with your first love and is terrified that you still have feelings for her. In her mind she wanted you to: A. Name her as your wife, so she could subliminally flaunt to Jen that she (wife) got the one that got away B. Rebuff all of Jen's advances quick and hard, to put no doubt in anyone's mind as to who your pick was. C. Further inflate Wife's ego by trash talking Jen with wife and mom. OP needs to learn better social manners. OP's wife needs counseling.

Dude didnt do anything wrong and he current wife is insecure and gas lighting him to make him feel bad for her insecurities. Why create drama where there is none? If it was a friend that they would be hanging out with, sure, but not an ex that he doesn't want anything to do with.

It reminds me of a book character named Belgarion who had been reduced to respond with hilarious physical reactions and using single words when his wife C'nedra was in labor with their first child. It is similar because he was unable to react like a sane human during this type of situation. OP may react well in many other situations under pressure but could not string two words together in this particular situation.

Not an asshole, but I agree he should've introduced his wife. Women frequently use that if they think someone is interested in them, they will find some way to bring up 'their boyfriend' or husband in conversation to make it clear. I think he was just oblivious and not being deliberately rude.

He may not be responsible for her feelings, but he played a role in why she felt like that and he is accountable for that. He didn't, but he apologized for it, because even he knows he should've done so in hindsight. He missed an opportunity to assure his wife, but he ended up fixing it in the updates.
