You picked the better choice. Someone who will actually be a good maid of honor and not only there in spirit.

Rest of the post : I told my parents that I would be choosing my best friend as my maid of honour. They were not too pleased for choosing someone whom I had know for over a year over someone I had known for my entire life - my sister. I have explained that not only has my friend been by my side through some tough situations, my parents are aware that she was/is still happy for me whereas my sister was not. My dad is okay with this but my stepmom thinks that it is very self centred that my I have not chosen my own sister as my maid of honour. My sister found out a few days later - stepmom told her even though I asked her not to. I wanted to tell her myself. Now my sister is furious. She also thinks that I am incredibly self centred and how I could possibly do this to her. She called me awful and started weeping, saying that she would never do this to me. I find this typical of my sister aunt influencing, because she always does this - weeps and accuses whenever something does not go her way. Also important: my sister lives on the other side of the country. She told me that she was going to be flying home for the wedding but would not be for other events like dress shopping and the bachelorette party. AITA for not making her the maid of honour? P.S. I hope this makes sense. I have ADHD and struggle writing coherent stories. (OP's postscript)

Bro isn't even yet part of the family and has the AUDACITY to be this rude?? Like if I insult or fight with my sister that one thing....if my friend, boyfriend husband does that ....breakup/divorce Even tho I am sure in this case the step-sister likely only talked bad about the sister and therfor poisoned the (future) husbands opinion on her... And likely WANTS him to act like that!! Its still unacceptable and the parents shouldn't stand for that! He just generaly shouldn't habe that audacity! Eapecialy as he never met the aiater himself Ofc ''stand for your wife'' but there is no reason to actively be rude/embarrass her if you don't even know her! Red flag...seriously

Mmhhh idk... We don't know how the relationship was between the two girls growing up.... maybe Alexis was Kara's tormentor for years and that was the fiancé's way of having his bride's back.... Or maybe Kara's petty AF idk 🤷🏻♀️
