Holes in the bottoms of pouches and bags like this are for drainage so if you get rain in them it doesn't pool up and ruining your gear so much

Is the use of as GrimLock still the best way to attach a Thermobak with D-rings?

It is called a Grimloc. Not to expensive and have a lot of uses.

Ok first, you could skip running the straps thru molle back not needed. You tuck the lower straps back into carrier thru the 2 slits in bottom. So, that way, you wouldn't have to take off male buckle clip. Unless, you want to connect the lower carrier straps unto the Grimlock D hook for added support. Otherwise nice video.
