Airline says doc blaming 9-year-old an ‘error’ in bathroom recording case | Banfield

American Airlines says a legal filing blaming a 9-year-old whom a former American Airlines flight attendant is accused of secretly recording inside a plane lavatory was made in error. Paul Llewllyn, the attorney for the victims, joins NewsNation's "Banfield" to discuss. "This was not an error. They knew exactly what they were doing, and it's only because of the media backlash, the public backlash ... why they elected to amend their complaint," Llewllyn said.

a typo is an error... putting a decimal point in the wrong place is an error... blaming a 9 year old for someone putting a recording device in a bathroom is not an error.

So an employee (flight attendant) is accused of recording inside a toilet room. And the company is defending them? There are so many questions to be asked in this case.

Children lack frontal cortex brain to understand risks, consequences not mature to have spatial awareness or savvy enough to detect such things. Victims are blamed for "asking for it" mindset.

There’s no need to cite the condition of frontal cortexes of children’s brains. AA’s assertions are specious, unconscionable and reprehensible. AA management lacks a moral centre. To hold a 9 year old responsible for her own sexual exploitation while using a supposedly safe and secure washroom on an AA flight is a blot on their whole culture.

Here's a legal issue to look at. Only 13 states in the U.S. have laws to provide reasonable expectation to privacy in clothing store dressing rooms. There has to be a disclosure that monitoring is in progress. It is said to be of the same gender watching the cameras, which could be behind a mirror. No recording can be taken. As long as it is for "theft prevention", it is legal to have cameras monitoring you dressing and undressing in dressing rooms. As an older adult, I had only recently learned this. Cameras are "hidden" in the changing facilities. Here is something to question. Why hide the cameras if all other U.S. states claim its legal to have no expectation of privacy in the dressing room? Least people will then see the camera and make an informed decision for themselves whether they agree to be monitored or not. If AA lawyers are taking the strategy to put blame on the child, it is a no go. There would have to be a notice on the door saying that the restroom is being monitored. But that even would not work because it is not for theft prevention. But all in all, video voyeurism for sexual gratification is illegal and therefore, time to throw out this defense by AA lawyers!

So not only is signing off on this defense reprehensible but I question the corporate morals of the company. How could they not look at this as horrible and a prelude to an anticipated public backlash. So “we as a company are morally bankrupt but we believe that the public is as well”. There are other carriers to fly with.

An employee of the Airline was caught having a tape recording in the bathroom, but instead of manning up and blaming the Employee, they now blame the 9-year-old girl for not thinking like an "Adult", They are blaming the girl just to avoid a LAWSUIT. This is all about avoiding someone's large sum of money.
