    This is a great wee guide, thanks for posting. Thanks for the advice on finding studs. May I ask, how would you construct airing shelves when only a side and back wall could be battened? At 90 degrees to one another? I am considering adding a long piece from floor to ceiling on the outside corner to add strength. But it seems to get in the way of access.

    How did you put the wood sticks on the wall for supporting each shelf? With screws or glues? You didn't seem to mention that.

    Hi, I’m about to attempt this. What did you use for (a) supporting the slats - I’m using a 18mm thick wood, would a 25mm long screw do the job or should I look for 30mm? (b) screwing the battens into the stud - I’ve got some timber construction screws 4in long. Think they’ll do the job? (c) nails to hold the slats onto the battens Thanks.

    What about wood sizes ?

    I'm about to attempt the same in my new-build house. Did you screw the slatted shelves onto the battens or just rest them on?

  • @masontoolswood2278

    @masontoolswood2278

    Yeh I glued and screwed them from the underside. Just make sure your screw length is less than the thickness of both pieces of wood. You don’t want sharp screws catching your sheets or towels! Could use a nail gun if you have one. Also remember to measure at the width of your cupboard at the front and the back because newbuild walls can be wonky! Good luck!

    You could do that just make sure the screws don’t come though the outside of the wardrobe!

  • @dooovde

    @dooovde

    @@thisisalesha_ You could simply glue supporting wood pieces to the corners of the wardrobe (placed vertically, resting on the floor of the unit) and rest the shelves on these. For the second shelf, just place supporting wood pieces on top of the first shelf, and so on. If all you're storing in the wardrobe is clothes and items weighing less than 20KG then this should work fine.

    We have a half size cupboard like this (im hoping to build shelves like this in ours), i can only assume the size is to allow headroom on the stairs that are directly below 🤷🏼‍♀️
