Airfix D-Day 80th Anniversary- Full Mini Series

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Eighty years have passed since D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. This invasion marked the beginning of the end of World War II. Decades later, the strategic planning, teamwork, and determination demonstrated on D-Day remind us of the sacrifices made and the importance of that historic day. As we commemorate this milestone, we honour the bravery and resilience of those who fought and the lasting legacy they left behind.

My Grandad landed on Gold Beach, part of XXX Corps, he was 23. He was the person who got me into Airfix, buying me a kit every weekend. He was of course Army, I remember when I jointed the Royal Navy at 16 in 1980, he said the "Navy have gone mad lad". I went to the Falklands 2 years later. We had a few drinks together when I came back, I was still a lad, if a bit more grown up.

My gt grandad was aboard HMS Whitshed screening the invasion fleet from e boats and my cousin was aboard Exeter during the Falklands, and I was dockside at Portsmouth for the return as a young lad. Good on you and your Grandfather mukka.

@@gb3007 Quite amazing, Plymouth in the Falklands, I was drafted on D89 (Exeter) for the Gulf War, and F70 Apollo Armilla Patrol. Small world it seems, done exchanges with the USN and Dutch. HMS Whitshed a W-class, just having a read about her mucker.

@@henryvagincourt4502 You lads had a time of it, thank you for being there when called upon. Whitshed did her bit. Grandad had nightmares mainly involving a mine strike.

Thanks very much for the presentation. My wife's grandad worked on the mulberry harbours and we were lucky enough to be able to visit Arromanches and see the remaining caissons when we visited for the D Day 80th celebrations.

To those still here from D-Day. Thank you deeply for the sacrifice you made. For the future you made possible for countless generations and the freedoms we still enjoy this day. God bless all of you, your families and your comrades that didn't make it home. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇵🇨🇦

Complete bollox. Live and blank are entirely different. Semi automatic and automatic weapons don’t function with blank unless fitted with an adapter.
