hi! I use dyno labelling tape to re scribe cowlings, its thick and tough enough to resist my scribing tool cutting into it, but flexible enough to easily bend around parts like the cowling on your Val, I recently re scribed four cowlings from an old airfix handley page halifax, got the lines really straight and neat.
