With over 20,000 hours on several large helicopters, including 3950 on the EC225 which was my favourite, this Super Puma has a flight deck sharing most of the EC225 equipment. The flight director makes navigation simple and the autopilot which could bring the aircraft to a hover was a pilot's dream. Hands off ILS flown to minima was easy. My 1500+ hours of fixed wing time is also fun, but helicopters are my best!

think it's the most expensive civil chopper you can buy , good SAR bird, the transmission can handle a lot , and run without oil for a time as well, lot's of offshore oil companies use it as it's robust, has good range and speed..simple rotor head, high life span on blades etc.. that initial investment turns into lower operating cost and a lot of flexability.. if you fly out to a north Sea platform it;'s most likely one of these , it can handle adverse weather very well..and some version have boat hulls , ans survive water ditching without tipping over.. it's a very capable and reliable machine..

Years ago, I remember thinking that it seemed odd that the catalogs for gear (like Sporty's) always listed a helo and a non-helo headset cord version. One would think after 60 or 70 years they would have become a common standard, but no doubt that would require too much paperwork!
