With over 20,000 hours on several large helicopters, including 3950 on the EC225 which was my favourite, this Super Puma has a flight deck sharing most of the EC225 equipment. The flight director makes navigation simple and the autopilot which could bring the aircraft to a hover was a pilot's dream. Hands off ILS flown to minima was easy. My 1500+ hours of fixed wing time is also fun, but helicopters are my best!
That was beyond awesome! Great filming!
What an awesome video!!. You sir have just earned yourself a thumbs up and a new subscriber. Thank you for filming and posting this amazing video.

When I saw that helicopter I thought no way, thats a bloody Puma. Well it's actually a Supr Puma. South Africa used it in it's air force for many many years. They actually still use it. It is a workhorse
Yes it was a great video, never seen one before.

SpaXpert Glad you enjoyed the video! I wouldn’t trust myself in any helicopter Haha. Do you fly?
Believe it or not, I have been watching this very aircraft doing demo flights or practice approaches most of the day from my backyard. Ironically when not on tour this aircraft is based at Spinks Airport about half a mile east of my house here in Burleson, TX. I doubt I will ever get to ride it but this awesome video gives me a good idea of what it would be like. Thank you for posting!

Not many things sound more awesome than a Turbine Helicopter starting up.
The video was great.. looked like a super smooth aircraft. Whats got me all messed up in the head is the fact the rotor damn near came to a screeching hault. How was it possible to get that much kinetic energy to rest?
👏👏👏👏

think it's the most expensive civil chopper you can buy , good SAR bird, the transmission can handle a lot , and run without oil for a time as well, lot's of offshore oil companies use it as it's robust, has good range and speed..simple rotor head, high life span on blades etc.. that initial investment turns into lower operating cost and a lot of flexability.. if you fly out to a north Sea platform it;'s most likely one of these , it can handle adverse weather very well..and some version have boat hulls , ans survive water ditching without tipping over.. it's a very capable and reliable machine..
Low noise... Helicopter... Very good
А что за авионика? Какой фирмы?
Instead of using a live cockpit sound pickup, an aux into the camera audio channel from the comm system would have made this much better, as we would have a complete narrative from the pilot.

Art Houston I had an audio splitter with me but was the first time I learned that helicopter headsets had a different plug than GA headsets. Live and learn I suppose.

Years ago, I remember thinking that it seemed odd that the catalogs for gear (like Sporty's) always listed a helo and a non-helo headset cord version. One would think after 60 or 70 years they would have become a common standard, but no doubt that would require too much paperwork!
Nuthin' better than the wind up of a helicopter turbine. Feeellll the poowwweerrrr....
did it have auto pilot?
NIce video , would like to be there with you . Is it easier or more difficult to fly a large helecopter ?
@LoveJT8D

sputnic I'm not quite sure as I haven't actually flown a helicopter however, i'd imagine a larger helicopter would have a greater feeling of stability overall.
@andrewmichael4976
6 жыл бұрын
Much easier...turbine powered, heavier and larger helicopters are much easier to handle than smaller, lighter combustion engine powered...less affected from wind and turbulence, plus more, wider blades make for MUCH more stability and handling

What automations do Airbus provide for their helicopters?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they either control fuel flow to each engine, or interact with the main rotor somehow.

Rafa FAW There are so many flight schools that offer helicopter training it's hard to name a specific place. All depends on where you live. A good place to start would be a smaller municipal airport that offers helicopter lessons.
