I always found that funny on the checklist too haha, but I believe it is to check that the gear lever is down not that the actual gear is down cause that would be quite obvious when the pilots boarded the airplane haha

It’s usually quite difficult to find an airline which would be willing to allow you to visit. But it’s not impossible. For me having a pretty big-ish online presence helps as it helps advertise the airline
