For those interested . I bought the small $149 machine and it does ok on 8 inch pillows , but a lousy job on anything else. It is also much harder to remove plastic pieces that often get stuck and make the machine unusable. I had the same idea of making pillows and buying bubble wrap locally because I thought I wouldn't need much bubble wrap if I use the pillows. This is not the case because many items are bubble wrapped in addition to using pillows. . A printer can take 20 square feet of bubble wrap and 100 pillows. The 100 pillows are about 22 square feet . This means , I am using almost the same footage as wrap . i am using 16 inch wrap , that works great . I like it better than the 24 inch. Two layers is better than using 5 layers of the cheap 3/16 stuff . I purchased a Locked Air machine that does a good job with both pillows and bubble wrap. It costs $1.30 instead of $8 to pack a large item . Amazon offered 12 payments of $50 , no interest. . The machine saves me over $200 per month

The “cheap” machine has been great. I will update the comments in a couple of months if the honeymoon lasts. 😂 I am crossing my fingers to see if the machine holds up for an entire year. Definitely stay away from machines that require proprietary pillow film.

After about 7 months, I regret my purchase of the vevor air pillow machine because the piece holding the blade cracked the first time I went to replace the blade... It is no longer usable until I get a replacement holder. And it seems like it's going to take multiple days to get them to send out a replacement... Easily replaceable parts is something I didn't think about.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. It's tough in this business when a important machine goes down. I can relate as I have a $15,000 machine and it took 3 months to get the parts as the manufacturer had supply chain issues. I am always thinking about how I can either stock replacement parts just in case or in case of machines that are less then $500 or so, maybe I have an extra new one waiting around. Same goes for many supplies; if I run out of certain boxes my entire production would be hampered.

You're welcome. The size of the pillow is chosen when you buy the roll of plastic film, not by the machine. you can by 4x8 or 8x8 or whatever. But once you buy the plastic film in a particular size you can't change the size of the pillow mid-roll. You would need to swap out the current roll for a different sizing. I don't recall the film used during this episode. We are constantly cycling through films to find the best.

RFID tag in the roll? This sounds like the Keureg of pillow machines. Thanks for the warning.

Yea it wasn't fun when I tried to use a generic roll in that machine and it ate it up. I had to immediately get a new machine and sell that one on EBAY with the proper disclosures.

Good question. The machine still works although I recently upgraded to a machine that handles many more roll types. It’s important to consider that when purchasing ANY machine.

yea with that one machine it was attached to the card board core. I had to get rid of it at a loss and pickup a machine that was non-proprietary. You save at least 50% on plastic film costs.
