softer leather doesnt mean better leather, take nicks/whites/jk brands they make the highest quality leather boots in the world nd its all thick stiff leather, softer leathers r made from deerskin, calf hide, lambskin, goatskin ..., hard leather is made from buffalo/bison/horse/camel hides nd its much more durable nd it will age gracefully unlike soft leather which is more prone to scuffs nd not as durable that being said, soft leather is more comfortable out of the box

I think it has more to do with the grain, top grain.. higher quality like ogs. Breaks in easier, yes it was stiff but a lot of modern day leather isn't that high quality and is stiff and doesn't crease as nicely. Until it's broken in it should feel a bit stiff.

I think the toebox is a conscious decision. They're sacrificing accuracy to maintain sizing from typical retros to the 85 cuts

I’m going to grab on Saturday, I know way under retail but that extra $20 I have no tax In Pa. So it’s worth my piece of mind to get off Nike , about 2 weeks faster unless do instant. Tts ? Someone said go up 1/2 size on this particular 85 ? What do you think. Blue metallic leathers real nice , breaks in nice.

Retro 85 is good but they don't care to make improvements to toe box again since 2019. Hilarious so many bash the custom makers doing it as good or better.

They’re doing a pretty good job on the 2s, 3s, and 4s, in regard to shape.

Hard to beat that Boring price point even with the Metallics going under retail on the resale market right now. Makes you wonder whether JB should take a year off after 2025 and rework their whole supply chain, honestly

Haha...remember they did this in 2013/2014? "Remastered" BS only for couple of models, they also said they are going to vault Air Jordan 3?? Never trust Nike or Jordan.

Neutral grey lows feel better on feet but I prefer the previous retro 85s quality wise.

I’m very happy with these, think brand is paying attention to channel.

They have definitely improved with the retro 85 shape of the sole and midsole. Kinda simulated the old tech but I think done well.

It's a damn shame that the air force one high tops only got 1 year of the 85 og cut

This leather might break in better though because it's thicker, time will tell?

It's simply not a better quality leather. Well off top grain. The low natural grey is best stuff JB has put out recently with leather

Im not a fan of the toe box at all but you can flatten them out with your thumbs which makes it look way better

VRL dwarfs the market atm

I like their shape no doubt. But VRL pairs do not wear well in my opinion. I've never had hvnd but I think they look the best. And boring, he's giving you the best for the price
