a home loss against the #273 team in the NET is incredibly debilitating for the Lobos’ tournament hopes. they were already in a rather precarious position before this game (though they were projected in by most), but their situation is incredibly dire now

Man, that's a bad loss for a NM team that has dominated majority of this season. It doesn't help that they're in a conference where they have to compete with 4 other teams doing extremely well.

Weird. Lobos usually choke in the tourney instead.

Mountain West Conference is At the Peak!

For reference here, New Mexico, Colorado St, Boise, Utah St, San Diego St, Nevada and UNLV in conference all beat and lost to each other and never lost to other teams (except Wyo beating CSU in a crazy 11 point comeback with a minute to go and UNLV losing at HOME to Air Force by THIRTY). Fresno's only wins are 2 against San Jose and 2 against Air Force and San Jose's only wins are against Air Force. Air Force's only win was at UNLV by THIRTY. UNLV is good this year and nearly won at Colorado St and would've beat Utah st at home if not for a 5 point play.

Glad I didn't place any bets on the Lobos tonight.

As an Aztec fan that likes AF and does not like UNM, good. But as an Aztec fan and MWC fan, bad (makes metrics worse for UNM, SDSU, and all other teams, less teams in march is worse, beating UNM looks worse, losing to them looks worse), but as an Aztec fan that really, really doesn't want to play Wednesday in conference tourney, GOOD. if UNM and CSU don't get a bye that's fine by me.
