Gosh I had this album in college in the late 80s and used to play it on my car stereo commuting back and forth. Carefree wonderful days in a simpler world! It's great to hear it again!

We had such fun back in the day. I often took my out of town rich guy friends to see this show. It was always a treat and a wonderful evening. Who could EVER get tired of Nell, Andre, Ken and that great music?

I was a little kid when this play was on Broadway. I remember the TV commercials for it and always wanted to see it. Such a talented cast!

In 2011, I performed Nell Carter's role for the Baltimore Black Theater Alliance. Now I know I can't sing but I did my best. It was some experience. A lot of pain for me though.

Outstanding performance! Take a bow because they took most of the awards this evening! Other performances had so much going on....but this cast was just 5 and simple, and they was the best and topped all thee others....just sayin'

They gave a wonderful performance and are a very talented cast, but "Ain't Misbehavin'" didn't win the most Tony Awards in 1978. This show won just 3 awards (Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Nell Carter was Best Featured Actress in a Musical). "On the 20th Century" won 5 Tony Awards (Best Leading Actor in a Musical - John Cullum; Best Featured Actor in a Musical - Kevin Kline; Best Book of a Musical; Best Original Score; and Best Scenic Design.

Could someone please upload footage of Nell Carter winning her Tony award for this show? I remember it and would love to see it again. Hers seems to be the only Tony acceptance speech from the 1970s that someone hasn't put on here. Thank you.

It was a different version of the show, shorter, not full-length. Also, they didn't have Irene Cara sing as much as Charlayne did later, because Irene Cara was promoted mostly as a dancer early in her career. Irene Cara didn't become famous as a singer until after she was cast in Fame. Coco was originally just a dancer, and Irene Cara won the part... but when the producers heard her sing they had the part re-written, and she was the breakout star of the film.
