Ken Page did a wonderful interview on CBS Sunday morning when AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' first came out...I myself saw t at least six times during the run, that I can remember. Ken said something like, "You know, Andre, Charlaine, Armelia, Nell, and I represent...aspects in a way of Waller's personality. I may LOOK the most like him, but we are all of us - parts of the person he was: lusty, funny, creative, bold, you get the idea!"

I had tickets for this show in San Francisco (1979?-80?) Orpheum Theatre. I was so excited in advance, and the day I went, Nell Carter was SICK, had an understudy😣. Couldn't believe it, but enjoyed it nevertheless. 'Cept there was canned music, no orchestra!! ha ha! At least there's this!!!

That guy looks more like an overweight David Alan Grier than Fats Waller. Also, Fats wasn't effeminate and never sang like that.
