I like how you show a grabbing sample that "doesn't exist" in Aikido and escape from it with the same method. Thank you.

Thanks. I find that doing exercises beyond technique can be really helpful, in order not to get stuck in a certain frame

Hi Rokas, what are your thoughts on Hapkido? I’m starting to appreciate, what seems like to me, how various martial arts are split up by situation. Judo to the ground, jujitsu on the ground, etc. almost like you wouldn’t use a saw to tighten Philips screw.

Wonderfully explained, nice work! As a side note - and without intending to offend - you should iron your hakama more often, it's nearly impossible to discern the hida ;)

Nice escapist video on how to come to grips, which is something we should all grasp. Keep up the good work. This is the sort of basic practical things that you can also teach children, as well as all genders. Useful for self defense, and demonstrating the basic strength of aikido. Simplicity studded and applied, rather than an attempt to meet force with force.

Keep going on the grips subject, very useful content for the new and novices. Try breaking the grip and securing a grab with the next one for instance. My old instructor explained it as "Making a C", I've since forgotten the Japanese term for it.

Thanks. I do hope people will find it useful. I think I have a feeling of what you mean by "Making a C" although I'm not entirely sure. It would be great to see an example. I'll do my best to further evolve the subject though

AikidoSiauliai Move your hand away and hook the thumb underneath and the 4 fingers over. Rolls right into a wrist lock. Works on the Gi sleeve grab too. That technique is pretty universal, I do it without thinking, just forgot the Japanese term for it.

I was taught it in a different way. the way I was taught was through a rotation of the hand, similar to when you look at the watch to see what time it is. in this video you use a leverage towards the thumb. the way I was taught you rotate the forearm on different pivoting point depending on the grab. you can pivot on the center of your wrist, on the outside or the inside.

I Actually learn from your channel. You have a good way of explaining the ways of the Martial Art. But can you make a video explaining on *How to escape a full body grab*? When someone's using *their* weight against yours to be on top?

Great to hear that. In terms of your question, did you check "Sankyo from Behind" video? Although it is very basic though and the grip is not likely to be used. I'm curious to see though what you mean by full body grab? I'm sure it would be interesting to explore the subject

@@MartialArtsJourney Hi, a full body grab would be someone taller & heavier than you grabbing any part of your body (mostly hair from any angle, and/or wrists, but also clothing and sometime foot), then basically hurling all of their weight onto or over you for more damage. it would be great to learn techniques against that, from a domestic violence perspective. you have a cool channel, thanks!

The easiest way to escape that grab is to punch the guy in the nose with the other hand. Or kick him in the nuts. The tighter his grip, the better :)

best martial art imo, because no body will tell you you need to add or lose weight/ add or lose muscles to start..all you need is a healthy skeleton and be alive.
