I like this pick for our team in a lot of ways…He’s a bullseye passer…Long as you place that ball and get it out on time …You don’t need an athletic QB all the time..I always have RG3 in the back of my mind who was injured early in his career for in my was running too much …Protect Aidan and give him time..

I didn’t know who he was yesterday but now after a brief conversation with a guy on twitter I’m ride or die for him

I've been watching this guy for a few years now. One thing I'd mention is that he was originally committed to a D3 and wound up coming to Purdue as the 8th string walk-on QB. As a junior, he started the season as QB4 and led, I think, 3 comeback game-winning drives in the few games he played that year. He helped put up absurd numbers for David Bell and Charlie Jones. The talent deficit between what guys like Stroud and Young have vs what O'Connell had around him, at least this year, was crazy. The athleticism to me is obviously the biggest drawback, but I don't know that O'Connell isn't seen as the best QB in this draft class as far as doing everything else other than running if you give him all of the draft picks on offense around him that you see at Alabama or Ohio State. I was expecting him to put up insane, borderline record-breaking numbers this year, but he wound up losing a handful of his top receivers to academic issues and injuries, 2 in the preseason (Milton Wright, #1 receiver, and Garrett Miller - who both would probably get drafted if not for the setbacks) and 2 others during week 1, so the Purdue offense as a whole took a step back from 2021. But if you watch the Iowa, MSU, or Tennessee games from 2021 - although I guess Tennessee's defense was horrendously bad - Purdue was throwing for anything they wanted - even with like 8 or their top 9 receivers out at the end of that bowl game.

im watching a few weeks after the draft. I know you mentioned the vikings and the rams as best potential fits, but I think that the raiders were honestly best case scenario now that that's what happened. sit behind Jimmy G for a year and if Davante Adams is still around, that's a great situation

I also like the situation for the fact that Jimmy G usually gets hurt. That could open up O’Connell to play some as a rookie!

Namath, Montana, Kelly, Griese, Dawson, Staubach, Aikman, Bradshaw, Stabler, Brady, Manning brothers, the list goes on. You don't have to be mobile or have a big arm to be really good at QB. I guess is he's going to be pretty successful given the time to develop. RAIDERS!

Not that I am comparing but drew Brees didn’t have a strong arm neither but his accuracy/timing/location was stellar. Maybe aiden will follow the same path or reach out to him for advice

He reminds a little of Purdy. I think that’ll be a long rivalry in the NFL.

Big Ben comparison is actually good, maybe not the arm strength like BB, but he can buy time in the pocket like BB. That skill alone is very important in the NFL. Pocket awareness and buying time I say is better than being a running QB. Dan Fouts had that same skill of moving around in the pocket and he was a top QB.

O'Connell is blowing up your pre draft analysis 💯 Right now he's looking like the best pick in the draft, let alone QB. Jimmy G has got to be saying, oh fk here I go again 🤦‍♂️ Looking at Jimmy G's contact, its obvious the Raiders plan was to have O'Donnell sit for a couple of years for development. But he clearly is blowing that plan up right before our eyes 👀 And if Jimmy G gets hurt like he usually does, O'Connell looks like he will replace him and never look back. Hes already beaten out Brian Hoyer for QB2. O'Connell Reminds of another late round, underrated QB who took that same route about 25 years ago when he replaced a QB named Drew Whathisname. I think he won about 6 Superbowls 🤔

I love it! I never root for injury, but I am hoping O’Connell can get some playing time this year. Maybe jummyG doesn’t make it through the year, or the raiders have a bad season and give the rookie a chance to play the last few games of the season! Like Jarrett Stidham did last year.

Inconsistent play is annoying to deal with as a fan. DC was great at 300 yards and 2 TDs then the next game he throws for 170 and 1 pick. Very up and down game to game.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on the O’Connell pick from Raiders fans. While I don’t think he will ever be a top tier QB, I think he could be a starter some day! But with a ceiling that low, getting cut is always an option

That's your opinion. I think the Raiders had a very good draft. This guy is an interesting prospect.

This quarter back is very basic mediocre at best over throwing and throws a little sloppy and can't throw deep balls why would anyone draft this guy over will Levi's QB now that i watched Aiden o connell QB on film i know will Levi's QB is better raiders missed out drafted a bust QB, and missed out on another josh Allen QB in will Levi's QB
