so many ways to respond to shit. im going to assume by your response to this song that you are young. experience in heart break teaches you strength and awareness about who is worth your "time" keep your options open and dont ever think that one person is the all be to your time and heart. They could be that stepping stone of learning to be more observant about who to pick NEXT and make certain they are worth your "time". I can feel your desire to spend the rest of your life with someone worthy of the memories you will create together. the last person you want to see before either moves on, and the first person to see everyday until then. trust me, love is our biggest beast to defeat, but we are the only ones who can arm ourselves with the right equipment to survive it. i was you 12 years ago. lost him to an overdose, 6 years after i left the relationship because he didnt appreciate me. he learned later on that i was in it for the long haul, and he didnt know how to cope otherwise. im sorry i didnt fix it before he left, but that was his choice to go that way. i regret the exact moment i was ready to speak to him (xmas eve) and i passed it up. THAT may have saved him! i knew what he wanted. he wanted me. any song this emotional can bring out the best in those of us who love deeply and genuinely. those who hurt us only hurt themselves, but you have to protect your own heart until you know for sure that you found that one. #hurtnobody

@@stevenkelli3377 Been a year now. I know I should not think about it but FUCK! it feels like I left her this morning finding out that she cheated. 7 year relationship, have a son together. We had our ups and downs but all I expected was her time and her honesty. She cheated with a "friend" and I connected the dots. I left her and she just basically threw it in my face because she and this "friend" were still together, technically she left me for him. It would have hurt so much less if she were honest, but the cheating broke me in half.

When I first heard you sing this song, I’m listening to every word and I’m thinking, This happened to me 32yrs ago. He was always making fun of me when we were together. Never appreciating the person that I was. Because of his foolishness he missed out on 35yrs of our sons life. Instead a man who saw my great qualities has been the father my son truly needed. We’ve been happily married now for 29yrs. We have 2 sons, one is a stepson and the other one is the son we had in our first year of marriage. These people who think we’re a joke don’t realize but THEY ARE the joke, not us. You’re doing great Aidan!! You have the support of your family and friends. I burst into tears when you ran out and hugged your mom. It reminded me of how my first son and I grew so close during his first 6 yrs of life and it continued after marrying his stepdad when he was 6yrs old. I hope for all the best that a career in singing can bring and that you never forget the humble man that walked into that room in front of 4 judges singing his own song about a very painful experience. Don’t ever lose sight of that man. 💕
