Good video Alan. Like the Greek myths, they are still relevant today. The TED-ed videos I've watched have been interesting, you should pick a few more.

Whenever someone mentions Prometheus I just think of the film Prometheus and the inhabitants of the planet they land on

"God of foresight, he should have seen it coming." That was my first reaction too. I was never into Greek/Roman mythology and I can't be bothered looking it up but maybe he did see it coming and the point is that he still sacrificed himself for the good of mankind anyway? The gods and their representatives willingly sacrificing themselves for humans is a recurring theme in the world's religions after all.

Missed out from the story : 1: it was clay not mud man was made out of. 2:Athena breathed life into the humans. 3:the fire wasn’t literal fire it was fire in the heart and brain of man ie inspiration creativity ect When Prometheus gave man fire back Yes he was shackled with unbreakable adamanite chains on the caucasus mountains by order of Zeus and tortured by the eagle like said. he was also only to be freed if He told Zeus who the mother of the child that would dethrone him was. Or meet two conditions First that an immortal must volunteer to die for Prometheus. Second, that a mortal must kill the eagle and unchain him. Eventually Chiron the Centaur agreed to die for him and Heracles killed the eagle and unbound him. but man was also punished when Prometheus was shackled As Zeus had Hephaestus create a mortal of stunning beauty. The gods gave the mortal many gifts of wealth. He then had Hermes give the mortal a deceptive heart and a lying tongue. This creation was Pandora the first women. A final gift was a jar which Pandora was forbidden to open. Zeus then sent Pandora down to Epimetheus who was staying amongst the men. Prometheus had warned Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus but, Pandora's beauty was too great and he allowed her to stay. Eventually Pandora's curiosity about the jar she was forbidden to open became too great. She opened the jar and out flew all manor of evils sorrows plagues and misfortunes. However the bottom of the jar held one good thing - hope. So Zeus was angry at Prometheus for three things: being tricked on scarifices, stealing fire for man, and for refusing to tell Zeus which of Zeus's children would dethrone him.

How much oxygen exists in a fennel stalk? that would be my question. Funny tho, you know what else looks a lot like a Fennel stalk with fire in it? A Pumpkin, or Turnip. 😉

Symbolism is used today in its many forms. Perhaps the most visible is within politics where symbolism is refined with the addition of rhetoric and spin doctors who advise their masters on the best ways to deceive the people and symbolism they believe to be a vote winner , also something that almost makes me laugh is the regular use of certain words such as "strength" or "solid" just as examples of words that are repeated over and over within an interview which really insults the intelligence of most people in that we know why those words are chosen and they are chosen by spin doctors to make the political speaker appear to be genuine and ready for power, when we the people are positive that they are not genuine , though there are those who become so passionate for one or other political tribe that the insult washes over them.
