Agnes Baltsa (Greek: Aγνή Mπάλτσα) is a leading Greek mezzo-soprano singer. Here we see her together with the austrian pianist and composer Friedrich Gulda during a concert in Munich 1989. She wonderfully performs the greek song "To tréno févgi stis októ" (English "The train leaves at eight"), followed by a piece performed by Friedrich Gulda, the Munich Symphony Orchestra and Joe Zawinul.

It’s a touching , seraphic, melancholic song, and her voice is so iconic, unforgettable, that touches my heart and soul like a gentle breeze and inflicts in me feelings of deep emotions
I am in love with this song and long I’ve been in love with Greek language. Agnes Baltsa is incomparable.
There are great composers who succeed in capturing and conveying the soul of a nation, and then there is Mikis Theodorakis. There are great classical pianists who also convince and delight us when playing jazz, and then there is Friedrich Gulda. There are great poets who manage to cross over to and settle in the field of popular music, and then there is Manos Eleftheriou. There are great opera singers who move us to tears when delving into the songs their country taught them, and then there is Agnes Baltsa.
I will never forget this concert in Munich. RIP Mikis Theodorakis

20대 치열한 사랑을 하고 맺어지지 않았죠......아직도 잊히지 않는.... 지금은 무덤덤한 나이가 되었는데도 아직도 그리운 사랑
이 노래를 알게 된지 오늘이 3일째.. 원래 가수의 노래를 듣고, 공민성님의 기타연주를 들으니 마음이 더 찐~하게 흔들리네요. 좋은 연주 감사합니다.

들어 보셨겠지만 각나라의 내노라하는 대표적인 가수나 성악인들이 불렀었죠 조수님도 한국어 버젼으로 불렀구요
국가(레지스탕스) 부름에 떠나보내는 연인의 애절한 노래와 프리드리히 굴다의 특별한 연주.. 붕어빵장수 아님 띠기 장수아저씨의 스타일로 멋드러지게 불어주는 멜러디온연주는 떠난 남자친구가 임무완수하고 당당히 올것같은 분위기의 연주 ..말로는 표현이 안되는 환상적인 연주입니다.

Great performance, great video! In 1989, we had dreams about walls crumbling - after the Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall had been torn down, I was hoping that the walls between classical and contemporary music would be torn down, too. Gulda was one of the few who performed on a stellar level in both worlds - and built bridges. This video beautifully shows that music does not need to be more than 200 years old in order to be considered "good" music. Still, concert halls tend to be either classical or popular, only very seldom: a venue for good 21st century music

The credits don't mention the name of the composer Mikis Theodorakis. He recently died at the age of 96, and is arguably Greece's greatest composer. He composed dozens of songs as good as 'To τρενο φευγει στις οκτω', especially in the late 50's and the 60's, setting to music poems by renowned writers such as Elytis, Seferis and Gatsos.

Yes, he is Joe Zawinul playing the Korg Pepe Synthesizer. it is an instrument custom-made for Zawinul by Korg in the mid-1980s, a MIDI controller consisting of a melodica mouthpiece for breath control and a set of accordion-like buttons. :)
