I totally agree with most part of your comment Sir, just that crippled is not true. The largest port onward the bridge comes at bottom on top 10 ports of USA. There are many larger ports in east coast itself. The car import and export can be moved to most ports on the east coast. Those just RORO. Yes few of the farm equipment have local assembly which have impact. But no, US is not crippled.

As an example, in a car accident, you get a rental until the claim is settled. There is no temporary fix. The port needs to be open. In this case, every day the port is closed, billions of dollars are being lost. Do you want to wait for the insurance company to assess the damage and pay up or get moving ASAP to open the port?

That would be the local harbor report. NTSB will be a bit more meticulous. NTSB: the 3rd bilateral bingo flange nut and screw on the Delta and Echo piers were recently repainted. NTSB: road surface pothole repair did not contribute to bridge collapse. NTSB: harbor channel navigation light continued to operate after collapse showing safe passage.

The channel "what's going on with shipping" has done some very good videos on this incident. In one, Sal marries the live stream of the harbor cam with the overhead of the ships AIS passage through the harbor. You may want to check it out because whoever posited an explosion isn't very knowledgeable about the speed & mass of vessels and bridge structures.

Tears are lovelier than a smile When they come from those you love As they seek relief from sadness When you're summoned from above. this ship had two pilots on it and it still did this damage. Because the crew of this ship are from a country know to be hostile to the west I find it quite easy to believe this is a purposeful act, perpetrated by their country of origin to disrupt the americun economy
