Mexicans? The definition is not accurate. You are referring, mainly, to the criollos, those were who chose the capital of the new born Mexico at the same exact location; but their decision is completely understandable, as Mexico City, albeit being in a previous state sort to say, already existed while Spain exerted dominion on the territory. In such city, the political and religious powers were held, that's why it was just logical to choose it as well. Remember that, when it comes to Mexican history as a whole, the indigenous people were the ones who defeated the Aztecs, whereas the ones who defeated the Spanish were the criollos, and not the other way around. It is paradoxical, but that's the way it is.

Considering that Mexico used to be an independent monarchy, it would look more like a succession crisis between two dynasties: a restored Aztec emperor Vs a Europeanised Mexican emperor.

"Mexico can revolt and the renunce the revolt and then revolt again" Me as a Mexican sounds about right

As a Mexican bachelor of History and gamer too, it brings me so much joy to see that you included my country. And it shows the attention to detail, despite some fantastical elements. 1. The flag of Iturbide as the first flag Mexico ever had. 2. The role of Miguel Hidalgo as the first leader. 3. The fact that you must choose different states in order to advance to another age, it's a good reflection of how Mexico experienced the federalist system from 1823 to 1835. 4. The Zócalo of Mexico City as its Home City. 5. The military units (the Soldado, the Insurgent, the Salteador, the General) show how much of a militaristic society Mexico was during its first years of existence, and the high amount of _pronunciamientos_ during this time. 6. The Revolution choices and the capability of some of them to revert back. A perfect example of how some independent republics like Yucatan, Rio Grande or California, were eventually reverted back to Mexico at some points in History. You guys are so awesome. This is definitely a love letter to my country. One in which AoE2 and AoE3 enjoy quite a big fanbase. Thank you so much.

@aaron90omar I wholeheartedly second this. I'm just in awe and love this new team behind AOE2DE, AOE3DE and now AOE4. And the art team deserves major kudos as well as the design team for taking risks and forging ahead! Too long AOE and other RTS formulas were "stale" or stuck in place. I fear that the WOW MMO is stuck in same rut, but new titles like Amazon's New World and Final Fantasy 14 are challenging that. Anyways, I guess next civ MUST be Canada... you can't have JUST USA and Mexico and exclude Canada... gotta represent all North America eventually, I'd say haha As always, I'm in favor of more civs being added to the game. Safavid Persia, Malacca Sultanate, more focus into southeast would be great. Also, for AOE3DE, I'd really love European maps and battlegrounds so then the Europe civs like Sweden can 'recreate' 30-years Wars and the like.

@@anthonyj2673 Miguel Hidalgo was not and independence leader, considering that his proyect intencion was to make new spain an state of spain but with economic liberty, the real leaders of independence were morelos and vicente guerrero, with the last one using the flag after the consumation of the independence, making entendible why they choosed that flag

Adding Chinacos is an amazing homenage! This is something not many Mexicans know about including me until a few months ago. They were outstanding cavalry men.

AoE always add new "blank" achievements before a new civ(s) announcement. Good way to get an idea that something is coming down the line.

Its 10 achievements though,civs get 1 or 2 achievements. Maybe they will be adding achivements for historical battles,or doing historical battles/campaign missions in special ways,like in AoE2

As a Mexican that knows a lot of history I can say that: our national history is incredibly bloody, we had and have a way too many internal conflicts, our government since the creation of the country is incredibly corrupt, we somehow managed to kick the french out of our country in the years where they were considered the best army in the world, we had a lot of tensions with our neighbor from the north since they had imperialist ambitions in the years of the 1840s, we lost half of our territory in a war with our neighbor, in 1968 the Tlatelolco massacre took place, the students went out to protest because they wanted better education, that was basically the Mexican Tinanmen square, lots of students were killed and the ones that took refugee in the nearby buildings were captured and tortured just for fun by corrupt shoulders and generals, some of them were taken by helicopter to the middle of the ocean and we're forces to jump, they were never found. What I mean by sharing all this is that we never really had stability or peace in our country, buy we're still one of the happiest somehow and I hope that my beautiful country will once reach the peace for the first time since its first day. If you read all this I want to thank you for giving me your attention, have a good morning/evening/night. PD: We don't hate our neighbor from the north, most of us just want to have a peaceful relation with them.

@Byzantine Historian I totally agree with you, we have the resources, the people and the spirit for being a first world country, but the problem is that: 1. The corruption is everywhere, literally most of our politicians accept bribes, and the organized crime just has to pay certain amount for operating freely. 2. The violence rate is incredibly high, our cities are classified as some of the most dangerous. 3. Our economy depends a way too much on the USA. Those are just some points that IMO stop Mexico from progressing at a good rate.

They got Haiti's revolt + Central American's age down + Brazil's omniplantation (forgot the name). But DE got cooler units thanks to their cutting edge game mechanics.

My state, Durango is now a thing in the Age of Empires saga, what a time to be alive.

@@lordmaztema Yeah it was a great time in history but I feel like they'd need to update gameplay and mechanics quite a bit to make that playable in modern times. (It's one of the deepest AOE titles, it just had too much working against it for a DE alone to revive it.)

Age of Empires 3 are going to be All that Age IV should be, but are not. Age III are more realistic more organic and gore. Age IV is a game for kids and mobile players, age 4 was a deception for all. Keep doing this fantastic work on Age III and Age II microsoft we appreciate. Greetings from Brazil too

Better yet, if they can do it in Aoe2, they should make new campaigns for the new civs. America struggling with its past crimes of torturing natives and slaves? The Songhai and their relations with the West African nations, or the Zulu dealing with Zimbabwe? Let's go ahead!

@@jianfongyaw I doubt you'll see any extended historical campaigns in AOE3DE since it's clear the developers do not want to touch upon the the zealotry, imperialism, colonialism, social darwinism, etc that dominated the time period (AOE3 mod Wars of Liberty is an excellent example of how to do this right). The brief descriptions for the civs that are in the game are pretty laughable, and this is coming from someone who enjoys the game.

Great choice for a new civ. As a Texas revolution history buff I love the Texas stuff in the cards. Definitely keep adding civs to Age 3. I would love to see the Persians or maybe the Shawnee!

I hope they bring an entire southeast asian expansion soon. There's a lot to cover in AoE3's timeline. There are kingdoms like Ayutthaya (Siamese) and Toungoo (Burmese) fighting each other, lots of kingdoms in present-day Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines dealing with European powers, and so on.

Yep, i agree i played AoE4 and i must say... Its just age of empires 2 with 3d graphics, only the campaign was really good but i prefer aoe 3 more the graphics are incredible and there is lot to the game. It deserves more attention in my opinion... Every civ is completly unique

AOE 2: for competitive gameplay AOE 3:for aesthetics and gunpowder AOE 4:because I have money

And they do leg stands atop the horse animation! Mucho bravado! I luv seeing that! In Russian, they display "dzhigitovka", which stems from the Turkic word Yigit/Yigit meaning brave soldier/equestrian!

Great adittion to AGE3, now we need the mapuches as unique civ and the final age be Chile or Argentine

Yes this is exactly what we need. More content for AOE3.

It'd be amazing to see heroes like Zaragoza, Santa Anna or don Porfirio in-game. Alghough I know it's probably being restricted to the Independence War; so they better keep Allende and Iturbide as general units.

Santa Anna is in the game. Hes a general in Skirmish.

Let's hope we'll eventually get Brazil, Argentina and Gran Colombia

I'm glad my nation and family is starting to become represented in these historical games more often than before. Truly makes me happy! Also, Love the music as well! Definitely fits in the mood. Mexico is a nation of struggle, constant revolutions, civil wars, and fights amongst the people of Mexico. Yet while our war torn country may be weak, it strives in one thing. Their Rich In Culture!

Nice, now we can play Mexico vs (England, France and Spain) at the same time in the campaign! XD

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I grew up loving history thanks to age 3 and not im studying history in college here in México XD I give my stamp of aproval of the historical accuracy of evrything. I love the buildings so much as well. Theyre gorgeus. Only two things. I would love if the General was named "Caudillo", And i would have add an "leva (levy)" unit, a sort of insurgente but with musket. Oh oh better, that you could get them from settlers or something. Idk, levy was very important X,D But overall im absolutly amazed and happy and my wallet is not but who cares.
