Against Heresies Summarized | Early Christian Writings

In this video, we'll provide a full summary of Irenaeus' books of Against Heresies (alternatively called by its Latin title, Adversus Haereses).
Excerpt:
In AD 178, when Irenæus was appointed by the Christians in Lyons to be their church's bishop (or overseer), he had at least three enormous tasks in front of him.
Many families in his congregation were grieving the losses of nearly fifty martyrs from the previous year.
The Gospel needed to be spread into the region surrounding Lyons, where people were polytheists or atheists, or the Christians needed their local churches to be organized.
There were discussions and disagreements between Eastern and Western Christians regarding how to respond to heretical groups claiming to be Christians, who were seeking to gain converts away from the universal church.

Amen. 6) I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel, 7) which is not just another account; but there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9) As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! Ignorance is bliss until reality steps in. It's sad that people still fall captive to popular belief instead of what is taught through the Spirit. The disciples were taught by Jesus in the flesh. It's their teachings that is referred to as Gnostic. Truth, Knowledge, and Understanding IS NOT what coincided with blinded perception for personal stature and wealthy gain. That's why they crucified Jesus. Same powers and principalities exist to this day. Wake up people.

@@TheologyAcademy Debunking catholicism I'm more blessed than mary Proof = Luke 11:27-28 27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” 28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” AMEN and AMEN. _________________________ 1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach Paul allows bishops to get marry, but catholic church goes against paul. _________________________ Jesus said Matthew 23:9 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And also said Holy Father to Heavenly Father= John 17:11 11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. Jesus said call no one Father but still catholics call *pope holy father. Sad _________________________ Whenever a catholic argue about mary being the mother of God Use this to defeat the argument. Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” Matthew 12:46-50 46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.” 48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”. Mark 3:35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” John 19:26-27 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. ( Jesus basically said John is the son of mary, and mary is the mother of John from that time onwards). By the way sarah is the mother of all proof=Galatians 4:21-26. _________________________ We should not pray to apostles Romans 1:25 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Acts 10:25-26 25 As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man.” Acts 14:15 15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, Revelation 19:10 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 22:8-9 8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God." Colossians 2:18 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, Holy Spirit intercedes for us=Romans 8:26 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And CHRIST as well=Romans 8:34 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Hebrews 7:25 25 Therefore He is also able to save [a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. It's Christ and Holy Spirit who intercedes for us not apostles There is only one Mediator between God and men LORD Jesus Christ= 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. _________________________ Apostles are allowed to marry, 1 Corinthians 9:1-5 1 Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord? 2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. 3 My defense to those who examine me is this: 4 Do we have no right to eat and drink? 5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? If Peter (peter is cephas read John 1:42) the so called "first pope" was married, why does the catholic church doesn't allow "pope" to marry? _________________________ The so called vicar of christ/ pope/holy father Peter called himself a fellow elder in 1 Peter 5:1, and as per the qualifications of elder in Titus 1:5-9 the elder is allowed to get married; then why does the "pope" is required to be celibate and catholic? ( when Peter was neither celibate nor catholic). 1)Peter was not perfect human nor was he a perfect disciple 2)He sank down while walking on water 3)Our Lord said to peter get behind me satan 4)Peter reject our Lord 3 times 5)Our Lord rebuked Peter for calling fire from heaven 6)Our Lord rebuked Peter when he cut of the soilders ear 7)Paul rebuked Peter for being hypocrite because he was acting different in front of Jews and different in front of gentiles. 8) Moses messed up, and he was a important part of Bible ( that's why he never entered the promised land), 9)David messed up ( and he has the Holy Spirit), 10)King Soloman messed up, 11)The apostles run away a day before Lord Jesus got locked up. 12)The early church messed up Rev 2:18-20 If these great people could mess up, why do you think the catholic church wouldn't mess up. ____________________________________ Galatians 4:21-26 21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar- 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children- 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. Sarah is mother of all, Not mary.

@@mynameis......23 "Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid (Mary); for behold from henceforth ALL GENERATIONS SHALL CALL ME BLESSED." - Luke 1:48 "And whence is this to me, that THE MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?" - Luke 1:43 (Elizabeth is speaking directly to Mary) "And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars ..." - Apocalypse 12:1 (who is the woman - Mary, of course; if you say no, who is she, then? Sarah? Highly doubtful) Also there is no reference in the Old Testament that calls Sarah "the mother of us all." The only person who comes close to that description is Eve. "And Adam called the name of his wife Eve: because she was the mother of all the living." - Genesis 4:6 In the New Testament, Mary is the new Eve (being the mother of our Lord as the verses in Luke clearly prove) and Jesus is the new Adam. As far as Peter's authority goes, Jesus said I will give the keys to Peter (referring to after His Resurrection). "And I say to thee: THAT THOU ART PETER AND UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven. Then he commanded his disciples, that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ." - Matthew 16:18-20 "When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: FEED MY LAMBS. He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: FEED MY LAMBS. He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: FEED MY SHEEP." - John 21:15-17 Yes, Scripture does give evidence that Peter was married, but the key point is Jesus gave him the authority AFTER His resurrection. Also keep in mind (as the New Testament proves), that Jesus gave the authority to the Church, which He Himself will build (and thus, give Peter the authority to lead). Pope Leo the Great (fifth century) wrote to Bishop Rusticus of Narbonne: "The law of continence is the same for the ministers of the altar, for the bishops and for the priests; when they were (still) lay people or lectors, they could freely take a wife and beget children. But once they have reached the ranks mentioned above, what had been permitted is no longer so." The Spanish Council of Elvira (305): "We decree that all bishops, priests and deacons in the service of the ministry are entirely forbidden to have conjugal relations with their wives and to beget children; should anyone do so, let him be excluded from the honour of the clergy." First Council of Aries (315): "Moreover, (concerned with) what is worthy, pure, and honest, we exhort our brothers (in the episcopate) to make sure that priests and deacons have no (sexual) relations with their wives, since they are serving the ministry every day. Whoever will act against this decision, will be deposed from the honour of the clergy." You might argue that this came AFTER the Gospels, but keep this passage in mind (regarding the aforementioned statement regarding the authority of the Church): "And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. And if he will not hear them: TELL THE CHURCH. And if HE WILL NOT HEAR THE CHURCH, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican." - Matthew 18:16-17 Jesus is giving authority to the Church (just like he did with Peter by giving him the keys to lead the Church). Therefore, if the Church gives authority, then we must abide by it since it IS Christ's Church. As the passage states, "if he will not hear the Church, let him be to thee as the heathen and the publican." The Apostles' Creed is NOT a prayer to the Apostles. Such an argument is false and completely fictitious. Let's get back to Peter. Jesus specifically talks about protecting Peter (not the other Apostles) from Satan. “And the Lord said: ‘Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren.’” - Luke 22:31-32 St. Peter’s name is mentioned more than 190 times in the New Testament. St. John is mentioned 29 times. The names of the other 11 apostles are only mentioned 130 times. Peter’s name is mentioned 56 times in Acts’ chapters 1-15. Peter leads the Church in replacing Judas in Acts’ chapter 1. He spoke for the Church at Pentecost in Acts’ chapter 2. Peter worked the first miraculous healing in post- Ascension Church history in Acts’ chapter 3. Peter answered for the Church before the council of the high priest in Acts’ chapter 4. Peter metes out the discipline to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts’ chapter 5. In Acts’ chapter 10, the first gentile convert is specifically told to find Peter. “And the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother …” - Matthew 10:2 “Now when they had heard these things, they had compunction in their heart, and said to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles: ‘What shall we do, men and brethren?’” - Acts 2:37 “But Peter and the apostles answering, said: ‘We ought to obey God, rather than men.’” - Acts 5:29 “And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him.” - Mark 1:36 “But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep. And waking, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.” - Luke 9:32 “But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee; there you shall see him, as he told you.” - Mark 16:7 Here are some OT/NT parallels that clearly link King David and St. Peter: “And the king rising up, and standing said: ‘Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had a thought to have built a house, in which the ark of the Lord, and the footstool of our God might rest: and I prepared all things for the building.’” - 1 Paralipomenon (Chronicles) 28:2 “And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: Men, brethren, you know, that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.” - Acts 15:7 “But the Lord God of Israel chose me of all the house of my father, to be king over Israel for ever: for of Juda he chose the princes: and of the house of Juda, my father's house: and among the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me king over all Israel.” - 1 Paralipomenon 28:4 “And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: ‘Men, brethren, you know, that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.’” - Acts 15:7 Just as the office of King David had successors, the office of St. Peter does as well. “And king David said to all the assembly: ‘Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is as yet young and tender: and the work is great, for a house is prepared not for man, but for God.’” - 1 Paralipomenon 29:1 “And all the multitude held their peace; and they heard Barnabas and Paul telling what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.” - Acts 15:12 In the Book of Isaiah, we learn that David had a royal cabinet. However, in his royal cabinet, there was one prime minister. “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliacim the son of Helcias, and I will clothe him with thy robe, and will strengthen him with thy girdle, and will give thy power into his hand: and he shall be as a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Juda. And I will lay the key of the house of David upon his shoulder: and he shall open, and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open. And I will fasten him as a peg in a sure place, and he shall be for a throne of glory to the house of his father. And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, divers kinds of vessels, every little vessel, from the vessels of cups even to every instrument of music. In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the peg be removed, that was fastened in the sure place: and it shall be broken and shall fall: and that which hung thereon, shall perish, because the Lord hath spoken it.” - Isaiah 22:20-25

@@mynameis......23 Abraham was the father of God’s people in the Old Testament. His name was changed from Abram to Abraham. “Give ear to me, you that follow that which is just, and you that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you are dug out. Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sara that bore you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and multiplied him.” - Isaiah 51:1-2 As the above passage indicates, Abraham, the father of the nations and the multitude, is also called rock. In the New Testament, Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter. He changes his name (petros) that is close to rock. Sadly, so many people badly misinterpret Scripture because they have to stick to their false "narrative." In other words, Jesus may have said he gave the keys to Peter, but that doesn't prove the papacy. In their deluded minds, the Bible has to explicitly say: "Peter, you are going to be the first Pope!" to prove the papacy. Think about this for a moment: Is the phrase "Holy Trinity" used in the New Testament? No. However, Catholics and even Protestants believe in the Trinity even though the NT specifically doesn't mention the word "Trinity." Non-Catholics can comprehend the legitimacy of the Trinity, but when the exact same thing applies to Peter being given jurisdiction to lead Christ's Church, they want to pretend that this particular passage is a completely different issue and that the same interpretations they use to acknowledge the Trinity are now completely foreign since they refuse to accept Catholic teaching. "Let them alone: they are blind, and leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit." - Matthew 15:14

Having read some of the early Christian apologists (Justin Martyr, Minucius Felix, Athenagoras, etc.) I find them less than convincing. They rely on ideas and "proofs" that, in modern times, I doubt would be taken seriously, even by other Christian apologists.

yeah, I've read a little, and a considerable amount of their arguments are based on the appeal to tradition of the apostles as the proof of their own perceived orthodoxy, but it seems much of the gnostic texts could well also be reflective just as much of what the apostles actually thought, who can know now?

It’s heresy cus if we’re all inherently good then God (Jesus) ultimately wasted the time and emotions of humanity by becoming human and dying on a cross. If we’re all good what do we need atoning for? Many people say that Jesus taught good teachings and He did, but if you treat Him as some teacher among many you will see He’s not that special. But if you treat Him as He is (God in Human flesh) you will see that His servitude and dying on a cross for humanity’s sin is beautiful and paramount to any teacher born from a mother. Repent and Believe in Jesus of Nazareth sir!

Gnosticism was an early heresy the Christ's Catholic Church had to deal with. Gnosticism (1st and 2nd Centuries) “Matter is evil!” was the cry of the Gnostics. This idea was borrowed from certain Greek philosophers. It stood against Catholic teaching, not only because it contradicts Genesis 1:31 (“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good”) and other scriptures, but because it denies the Incarnation. If matter is evil, then Jesus Christ could not be true God and true man, for Christ is in no way evil. Thus many Gnostics denied the Incarnation, claiming that Christ only appeared to be a man. Some Gnostics, recognizing that the Old Testament taught that God created matter, claimed that the God of the Jews was an evil deity who was distinct from the New Testament God of Jesus Christ. They also proposed belief in many divine beings, known as “aeons,” who mediated between man and the ultimate, unreachable God. The lowest of these aeons, the one who had contact with men, was supposed to be Jesus Christ. Heresies have been with us from the Church’s beginning. They even have been started by Church members, who were then corrected by councils and popes. Fortunately, we have Christ’s promise that heresies will never prevail against the Church, for he told Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). The Catholic Church is truly, in Paul’s words, “the pillar and foundation of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15). “The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.’ . . . On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was [i.e., apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?”- St. Cyprian of Carthage (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; 1st edition [A.D. 251]).

3:20 : you are placing a Sethian figure and interpretation of the Demiurge in a Valentinian context which is mistaken. In Valentenianism, the Demiurge is not evil and has created the physical world upon being instructed by the Pleroma itself. 4:30 the Ebionites were not Gnostics but Christians of a particular Jewish inclination. There were teachers who adapted both teachings though, as was the case of Cerinthus. 4:36 Marcion never claimed the possession or the capacity to impart a secret knowledge "Gnosis" and is thus not technically a Gnostic even though he was obviously a dualist. 5:07: The Gnostics were not polytheists. The Aeons are emanations of a single spiritual source. The Aeons don't make the Gnostics polytheists just like the doctrine of the trinity doesn't make mainstream Christians polytheists. 5:20 The Gnostics used apophatic theology to refer to the "Greatest Aeon" and consequently this being can't be described as Good or Evil or even "existent" as per some teachers like Basilides 5:59: the number 30 is relevant to Valentinianism, where as you've placed the figure of Abraxas which is Basilidian and is associated with the number 365. A basic mistake that reveals how poor your knowledge of Gnosticism happens to be. 8:05 Funny you as a Copt say that when there is a significant number of (secular) scholars who believe Egyptian Christianity was initially Gnostic! (And the first 11 Coptic popes are fictional, the first real "Orthodox" pope being Demetrius the Vinedresser.) Read "Orthodoxy and heresy in earliest Christianity" by Walter Bauer. Greetings from an ex Coptic Orthodox who currently happens to be a very happy Neo Gnostic! :)

They also proposed belief in many divine beings, known as “aeons,” who mediated between man and the ultimate, unreachable God. The lowest of these aeons, the one who had contact with men, was supposed to be Jesus Christ. The Acts of Peter are not the only scripture proving St. Peter was crucified upside down. Tertullian “But if you are near Italy, you have Rome, where authority is at hand for us too. What a happy church that is, on which the apostles poured out their whole doctrine with their blood; where Peter had a passion like that of the Lord, where Paul was crowned with the death of John [the Baptist, by being beheaded]” (Demurrer Against the Heretics 36 [A.D. 200]). St. Peter of Alexandria “Peter, the first chosen of the apostles, having been apprehended often and thrown into prison and treated with ignominy, at last was crucified in Rome” (Penance, canon 9 [A.D. 306]). St. Lactantius “When Nero was already reigning, Peter came to Rome, where, in virtue of the performance of certain miracles which he worked . . . he converted many to righteousness and established a firm and steadfast temple to God. When this fact was reported to Nero . . . Peter he fixed to a cross, and Paul he slew” (The Deaths of the Persecutors 2:5 [A.D. 318]). St. Jerome “Simon Peter, the son of John, from the village of Bethsaida in the province of Galilee, brother of Andrew the apostle, and himself chief of the apostles, after having been bishop of the church of Antioch and having preached to the Dispersion . . . pushed on to Rome in the second year of Claudius to overthrow Simon Magus, and held the sacerdotal chair there for twenty-five years until the last, that is the fourteenth, year of Nero. At his hands he received the crown of martyrdom being nailed to the cross with his head towards the ground and his feet raised on high, asserting that he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as his Lord” (Lives of Illustrious Men 1 [A.D. 396]).

The Gnostic Gospels are writings dating from the 2nd to 4th century AD and contain mystical teachings that were not accepted by the Christian Church at the time. The New Testament, which consists of the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and a number of other books, is a collection of writings recognized by the Christian Church as holy books inspired by God. Although the Gnostic Gospels are not considered part of the Christian scriptures, these writings provide important information about Gnostic beliefs and practices in the early Christian Church. @@sbeasley7585 No, St. Ireneus did not oppose the Trinity. On the contrary, St. Ireneus was one of the early Church figures who championed the belief in the Trinity, the doctrine that God is one, but consists of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In his famous work Against Heresies, St. Ireneus opposed heresies that deviated from orthodox Christian beliefs, including those that denied the Trinity. He taught that the Trinity is a fundamental belief in Christianity and that Christ as the Son of God is equal to God the Father in His nature and divinity. As a church father and theologian, St. Ireneus also developed important theological concepts that form the foundation for the doctrine of the Trinity, such as the role of Christ as the Logos, the Word of God made flesh, and the importance of understanding God's love in the life of the believer. Therefore, it can be concluded that St. Ireneus was not an opponent of the Trinity, but rather one of its guardians.

For Christ is one, and God is one, and the power of the Holy Spirit is one, just as there is one Father and one Son, and one Holy Spirit, and these are inseparable. And since this is witnessed by the Church scattered throughout the world, that it receives it with a pure and sinless heart, and keeps it with a faithful life, just as the apostles also handed down the message to us, therefore it also believes in the one God who created all things, through His Son who became visible to us, and in the Holy Spirit who sanctifies and leads to salvation." (St. Ireneus, "Against Heresies", Book IV, Chapter 20, Verse 1) In this quote, St. Ireneus teaches that there is one God who created everything, but that God consists of three persons, namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Most of them hate life for what it is, only care about themselves, and believe knowledge and wisdom alone is the only key for salvation, when in reality there's more than just that. There's also the actions one makes to back up those, which is why knowledge and wisdom alone isn't enough. In the end, they're just pretentious nutcases who were branded as heretics for a VERY good reason.
