    Regarding doubts about the Eucharist, pray to the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to Christ’s words in chapter 6 of John’s gospel. He mostly clears the room with his shocking words. And notice the Lord doubles down!! This corresponds well with the opening of this gospel “and the Word became flesh”. It also corresponds with the place of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem (house of bread) and the fact that Mary laid the Christ child in a manger (feeding trough). Absolutely beautiful!!!!

    I was a Protestant for most of my 64 years and as confident and arrogant as I could be about the infallibility of my Protestant perspective. Reading some of these comments reminds me of that . . . and I cringe. One person claimed Ignatius was a poor theologian. Hmmm… how so given the fact he was directly discipled by the Beloved Apostle John, who was probably only about 10 years deceased at the time of this letter to Smyrna. I’m pretty sure the “bad theology” is from chapter 7: “They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ…”. One of the last things on Earth I ever thought I’d be was a Catholic. Thank You Lord Jesus for opening my eyes! And thank all you early Church Fathers for giving us the canon of Sacred Scripture, including those texts that Luther expunged from the Bible evidently based on his own “papal” authority. Christ was clear in his call for unity. Protestants, you have left the Mother Ship, and with your now 40,000 different versions, you are blatantly breaking with Christ’s appeal for unity. Come home I pray. And if scandal and corruption are your roadblocks, then consider it was there in the Church from the get-go. Judas betrayed Christ; Peter, the first pope, denied Christ, and all but one of the Apostles ran away except the one who probably baptized Ignatius. Corruption has and always will be in the Church on Earth. But through it all, look at the good that has been done by the Church worldwide. A simple example in the United States is that in every large city there is at least one old Catholic hospital beginning with a saint’s name. My life was recently saved in one of those hospitals. Amen!

    It just goes to show that churches are made up of people. They dealt with the same problems back then, with one exception. The churches today are much more worldly.

Any suggestions?✝️

    I'm struggling with the same thing, though I was raised Pentacostal. I'd probably be a Catholic but I just don't think I can ever accept Immaculate Conception, and I know the Orthodox Church doesn't believe that. But at the same time I recognize the importance of apostolic succession and I also feel a sense of peace when I think about becoming a Catholic that I don't entirely feel when I think about becoming an Orthodox. I also struggle with the fact that I feel deeply called to some form of ministry but I know Catholic priests cannot marry(excepting some exceptions in the Eastern Catholic Church) whereas Orthodox priests can. And I know I need to be married in order to stay away from sin.

    For what it's worth, I'd say try out a Protestant church that preaches the Bible and treats the Bible as the final authority. I love my Catholic and Orthodox brothers but they can be so wrapped up in traditions and dogma that they lose focus on Jesus Christ. This schism seems to be focused on how important The Pope actually was when his importance shouldn't even be in the same stratosphere as Jesus Christ. See what real Bible believing Protestants are talking about when they say Sola Scriptura and Sola Fida (I know a lot of denominations are trash) and make a decision, but don't forget it's ALL about Jesus Christ and what he did for us. Acts 2:38 Ephesians 2:8-9 2 Timothy 3:16-17

    @@euthyphro8935 But Jesus says that the Apostles had the authority of Heaven. First individually to Peter when he confesses Jesus as The Christ in Matthew 16 and then to the rest of the 70 in Matthew 18. And they all said to trust the bishops. Paul, one of the Apostles though not the 70, even appeals to his authority as an apostle in one of his letters. And Ignatius(a disciple of Polycarp who was a disciple of John the Apostle) said to trust the bishops as where they are so is Christ. And, if the Apostles passed on their authority all the way down to present day, then the bishops of the Catholic Church, Orthodox and Roman, would then also have that same authority: the authority of Heaven. So to deny them, unless properly excommunicated, would be to deny the Apostles and so deny Christ as well. And Sola Fide is unbiblical. Jesus says what we must do to inherit eternal life. He says to keep the commands. And He even lists several sins that if you commit, without repentance, you would go to Hell. And, again, if the Apostles have the keys to the Kingdom, as Jesus said they do, then if they or their successors say something forfeits eternal life, then they have forfeited eternal life. Likewise with Sola Scriptura, if the Apostles grant authority to their successors, then the successors' words must also be taken as scripture. I agree many have lost sight of Christ but that does not make their commands or decrees necessarily without authority, unless that authority has been taken away like in the case of excommunication or abrogation by a future successor. As Jesus said about the Jews, do what they say but do not do their works.

    @@IsaiahINRI we agree more than you think. The Apostles absolutely had authority to dictate and teach scripture which they did. The Bible even says in Thessalonians 2:15 to respect the Tradition given by word or epistle... from the apostles, who have all died. Where we're going to run into an issue is apostolic succession, which I've never been convinced of. The church doesn't have more authority than scripture, The Bible says in both deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18-19 not to add or take away from his word. Finally I've given chapter and verse for why I believe as I do. Should we believe councils and dogma carry more weight than scripture? Do our works that are filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6) compare at all to Jesus's sacrifice?

    @@euthyphro8935 Jesus gave them this authority, though. Jesus humbled Himself to agree with whatever they declare.If they then declare that apostolic succession is the way, then Jesus agrees. There is even a scriptural basis for these things, so it isn't solely rested upon Ignatius

Maybe they were tartarian, ancient asian bicycles show a hidden past. Im leaning on that these people form Hazor were really genetically modified and their Tomorrowland utopia, close to the heights of the tower of babel tech (stargates etc). Just look back what has been hidden from only 100 years ago at our stature, imagine them being closer to our original creation form of heightened intelligence and strength. Polycarp doesn't mention "a bishop" in Phillipi because in the first century, multiple bishops were assigned to pastor their flock. The video does say that Polycarp's letter addresses the presbyters, which is to say, bishops. Modern audiences aren't familiar with how the church was governed in the first and second centuries because of the corruption that supplanted the true church by the mid to late second century.

    A workable creation theory splits Genesis 2's creation account from Genesis 1's. In other words, whereas, Genesis 1 shows God creating animals and then humans, Genesis 2 shows God creating man then, because man is lonely, He creates animals and then eventually woman. This works so well because it explains where Cain's wife came from. There was an existing population of humans who lived outside the Garden of Eden for (perhaps) thousands or even millions of years before Adam sinned. So, when Adam and Eve are kicked out of the Garden, they joined the rest of humanity in the struggle for existence on planet earth.

    We get glimpses into which denomination put these videos together when they make statements such as "The Sabbath Day is the Lord's Day." The only major spinoff of Christianity that says that is the Seventh Day Adventists. Every other branch of Christianity accepts the first day of the week as "the Lord's Day" as that's the day on which the Lord rose from the dead.

    Clement of Rome was a bishop of a whole other church and had no authority involving himself in the affairs of another congregation (in Corinth). The power vacuum left by the apostles had given rise to certain power hungry bishops and they started to exert control over other churches. This breaks the model of the local congregation and sets the stage for the later takeover of the Empire's religion, which called itself "Christian".

    The New Testament never describes the Lord's Supper as a "sacrifice". In fact, offering a ritual sacrifice to God is spoken against in the New Testament (see the Book of Hebrews). Jesus is supposed to have been the once-for-all sacrifice for sin and the only other "sacrifice" spoken by the apostle Paul was the "sacrifice of praise". The Lord's Supper is never called a "sacrifice" - that is a later proto-Catholic invention.

    Look, "The Way to Life", as found in the Didache can be read right out of the Gospel of Matthew. The same is true for "The Way of Death". These two articles do not support anything more than, "they copied it out of the gospels."

  • @GizmoFromPizmo
    @GizmoFromPizmo13 күн бұрын

    The Didache was written by people who had lost the reverence for both baptism. The imagery of Christ's burial and resurrection isn't even considered by the Didache (like we see in Romans 6). The urgency that we see for baptism into Christ is not shown by the Didache in that it talks about waiting for day long fasts for both the baptizer and the baptizee. The New Testament immediately baptizes new believers. That urgency has cooled by the time the Didache is written. The Lord's Supper is not ever called "the body and blood of Jesus". This really doesn't seem like a first century document at all. It uses the term "Eucharist", which isn't found in the apostolic writings. Finally, Jesus is never called "the Son of God" in the entire document. The divinity of Jesus is not spoken of or discussed. It doesn't seem like a document that came out of the original faith of the first century apostles. Clement of Alexandria was a late second century / early third century Coptic (Egyptian) "Christian" (Coptics weren't Christians. Most Gnostics were Coptic). Athanasius of Alexandria was a fourth century Coptic too. The attestation of these veritable Gnostics to the Didache does not boost the document's stock price at all.

  • @GizmoFromPizmo
    @GizmoFromPizmo13 күн бұрын

    There were no such things as "popes" in the second century. That was a later development. The New Testament knows of no such ecclesiastical office. The reference to a Pope Victor" is a denominational anachronism - a redaction of an office that didn't exist during the time of Irenaeus. False doctrine is a cumulative poison applied one drop at a time.

  • @GizmoFromPizmo

    Self-identifying as a Christian is not only a Gnostic problem, it's a big problem in the denominational world today. It would be better if members of denominations would simply reject God altogether so that the remaining Christians (true Christians) could be manifested. Pretend Christians make it difficult for the world to see what it is to be a follower of Christ - which I guess is the goal. If you can't identify a Christian then you're liable to think it's just a figment of people's imagination.

  • @GizmoFromPizmo

    In the first century, there seems to have been multiple bishops per congregation of believers and not only one (or one per many churches). Paul's epistle to Titus instructed him to ordain "elders in every city" (i.e. multiple elders (bishops) per city).

    Evidently, at this time, the Book of Hebrews was not yet considered in the doctrine of the church. The Book of Hebrews put an end to a ghostly/angel-like Jesus who only appeared physical. Hebrews stresses the importance of Jesus being a flesh and blood human being with the spirit of God. If Jesus wasn't a human then He could not have died for our sins. Heb. 2:14-17 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
