As a Liverpool fan, Van dijk in a Liverpool defense that can't keep a clean sheet for their lives getting the nod ahead of Salina and Gabriel is a disgrace

Thats what makes it amazing. 34 GA in a subpar season. If he kicks on next season do we expect 40+ and trophies?

Only Gabriel deserved to be there, not Saliba and definitely not Saka. Van Dijk shouldn't have been there but he's been playing in a team whose goalkeeper, defence and midfield has constantly been changing game-by-game so they probably took that into account compared to Arsenal who have been more settled. Rodri should have been there too Man City's best player.

saka have numbers, not performances. I agree either saliba or gabriel should have van dijks place. Rodri instead of isak

Any other team involved in a title race would have players heavily stacked in the award nomination but when it's arsenal not the case

Saliba and Gabriel both played like prime Maldini and Baresi this season. Absolute lions.

For me Saka hasn’t been as good as Odegaard, Gabriel, Saliba, Rice this season. He just had good stats. But he’s not turned up in a lot of big games and just hasn’t been as good overall

Mate Saka doesnt have a spot in rhe POTS this season. Maybe next season again.

Rodri is Citys best player and doesn't even get nominated, these awards cant be taken seriously

I’ll support our team through thick and thin, but when Saka achieves what Giggs at Man United or Cole when he went to Chelsea did then we can talk, for the time being, as fast and talented as he is he still seems a tad fragile to me.

Gabriel had some howlers, Saliba not that many. For me Saliba was still slightly better than Gabriel.

What? Gabriel has been pretty spotless, no defender is gonna be perfect. Saliba and Van Dijk have made more mistakes.

You have to take into account that VVD has been playing with different keepers, cbs, rbs and lbs rotating all season without a proper dm infont of him. the fact that liverpool are even in this position is a miracle and shown the levels to how well he can carry a team on his back. Gabriel and Saliba have been great but they had the same backline, dm and keeper the whole season. Gt rid of salba or rice and the whole system gets shut down and arsenal would lose much more. Therfore VVD 100% deserves a mention, you lot are just reactionary of recency bc the guy had been flawless up till now

Alright then. By using your rationale, Jordan Pickford should be player of the season then. A good keeper who has had a good season. But because of injuries to teammates and Everton not having a proper DM, he's had it harder than most. See how ridiculous that sounds? If VVD's teammates have been injured or not good enough, and it has made him look worse than he is, then too bad. You have to pick these things on merit. Not on hypotheticals. Gabriel missed Saliba for the last 2 months of last season, and he didn't look as good. I can guarantee you weren't giving him this excuse. You would have been judging him from how he performed. Not on a hypothetical like "well if Saliba was still there, then Gabriel would have been great, so that means he didn't have a bad end to the season."
