Afterimage Review | A Vast and Shallow Sea
Ойындар
Afterimage, developed by Aurogon Shanghai, is a hand-drawn, 2D metroidvania style game that seemed promising when I first found saw it. Boasting an excellent art-direction and vast world to explore, I personally found that Afterimage lacked a good hook to keep me interested in continuing to explore the world. I did persevere and finish the game, but I ultimately found my main opinions of the game unchanged.

Thanks! Yeah, it just didn't click with me but I'm sure some people love it 😁
Honestly the only issue I have with the game is that it has contact damage. Otherwise I love this game, definitely one of my favorite metroidvanias.
The only thing, I don't like about this game is there are still bugs, like the quest that just gone when you load your save file, and the option for action that are missing during the quest. The developers already add the pacth, currently ver 1,20, but not all bugs are repaired. I'm stuck for getting the endings that need to open NG+ because of the bugs.

That's interesting! I don't think I encountered many bugs, but I also didn't care much about finishing side quests. Hopefully they get patched out soon!

@@KyleSansL if you like dark souls and Metroid you will love Grime.
Thanks for the in-depth review, you made very clear points and helped save me time as this game doesn't seem like it's for me. No offense to the developers but there's only so much time in the day so I gotta be picky. The hard line for me was what you call the "subtractive" nature of the game, it sounds like the game rewards you with shortcuts through overly empty spaces rather than rewarding you with new areas to explore, and even then has a lot of dead ends.
