After Lockdown, Life Of Singapore’s Hawkers Beyond COVID-19 | Belly Of A Nation 2 | Part 4/4

In the finale episode, meet Weijie, the third generation in a family of fishball makers. In case you didn’t know this, the ubiquitous fishball requires skills to churn out, if you aren't using machines. He ventures into selling Fishball Noodles but COVID-19 forced him to hunker down. He re-emerged 3 months later only to be axed once again.
Other hawkers in the CBD have to make critical decisions, and one impacts a career that spanned more than half a century. Others are luckier. Mr Tay finds an able apprentice to learn the art of frying carrot cake and a fried savoury sweet broad rice noodle dish called Char Kway Teow. The Burger guys find inspiration in a Singapore dish that's made only of soup bones.
One of the hawkers celebrates a life milestone - getting married. On the menu, a sumptuous feast that includes Dum Biryani, Mee Soto, Cereal Prawns and Tandoori chicken.

U guys are what made Singapore today and what garnered us and our hawker culture the Unesco Heritage. I am proud that we have hawkers in Singapore who serve up good meals. And we can see the work is tough, demanding, with full of ups and downs and there is alot of commitment, discipline and (most importantly) passion needed. have watched all 4 episodes of Belly of Nation 2. Well done CNA for giving a nice series to something easily forgotten in Singapore.

My great gradma sold traditional Salvadoran candy for most of her life and she always had a great personality too. She past the tradition to my gradma but she is the last one who knows the craft. Is really sad when traditional gets lost, so I hope she can continue with her business.
