I think the outcome to this fight is pretty obvious. 1 they're both cannines so both will have the same fighting skills. 2 the wolf is bigger and heavier. And 3 due to the wolf coming from colder reigns it'll have thicker fur so more protection from the dogs bite. I love your videos but you can surely put up a better comparison than that?

In a way, it was like comparing a jaguar to a leopard. In this case however, he should compare by packs instead, as both animals are often part of a pack. If this is the case, and If there are 2 wolves and 6 or more wild dogs, the wild dogs have a better chance at winning. I've seen videos of packs of wild dogs beating up on a pair of hyenas.

There are cases of Lions being absolutely bodied by Buffalos (which will fling him in the air or impale him with its horns) and Zebras (which can cause severe injury on them with even one kick). Wild Dogs almost never fail during hunting because they 1) go for the weak points (their private parts or stomach) or 2) Chase down their prey or 3) swarm the prey to the point they simply have a hard time choosing a target.

Part of me wish that wolf and wild dogs meet but that’s not gonna happen they live no where near the same habitat and they live no where near the same continent. Wolves live in North America to Europe and Asia while dogs just live in Africa.

Wolves are one of my favorite animals. During the winter in Yellowstone all the other animals suffer and have a lot of hardships but wolves actually thrive during this period. They hunt smart like orcas. I love it. Also, he may have mentioned something like this in the video. If so, my bad. I skipped to the end on this one :(

There’s another huge difference that wasn’t mentioned in the “match-up”. Environmental temperature. If the two were placed into the grey wolf’s environment, the African wild dog probably wouldn’t live long enough for the environment to become an issue. If they were placed into the wild dog’s environment, the wolf wouldn’t run or fight long before it would overheat, weaken, and become lunch for something.

There are actually two Wolf-like Canid species on the African continent called the African wolf and Ethiopian wolf. The African wolf is a descendant of a genetically admixed canid, resulting from Gray wolf and Ethiopian wolf mixing. It's a small canid, the size of the coyote, and lives in the Sahel region. The Ethiopian wolf is a medium-sized canid like the Dholes or Dingos.

Wouldn't matter. Evenly numbered, dogs turn tail and run. Their only chance is if they outnumber them 2 to 1. Even then, doubtful for the dogs.

I think the wolf would win due to the size advantage but it wouldn't be easy, the wild dog is more agile and has sharper teeth whereas the wolf has better protection (thick fur) and a stronger bite, and of course it is heavier. I still think the wolf would win but not too easily

Pound for pound, i would go with the African Wild Dog. Only problem is that it still doesn't have enough pounds to match the Wolf. It is just an inescapable mismatch, if we are talking 1v1. Pack vs pack, may bring in a different dynamic. Still, there would be so much collateral damage that it would truly need to be apocalyptic for both sides to come to that.

Seen some in North Ga here in the USA their coming back here as well. They have been for years

The map depicting present or extirpated is quite outdated since there are so manny wolves in Poland and Germany that they found there way to Belgium and The Netherlands. And after decades there are now breeding pairs in Belgium and The Netherlands. Wolves are also present in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Switzerland.

I guessed wolf, but not by much. The wolf's heavy coat would be an advantage in a fight, plus its greater size. Well done.

There used to be much larger wolf packs in the past, when there was a lot of them.

@@neganrex5693 Well a few years ago there was an extra hard winter in Siberia. And all the wolfpacks went together in a super pack of 300-400 wolves, led by the biggest baddest wolf of them all. The only way to break up the pack again was to kill that one Super Alfa. It took several months, with the back terrorizing villages, but finally the Super Alfa was killed and things went back to normal.

North American Grey wolves have much larger territory. Perhaps due to the much larger wild spaces, especially in Northern Canada and Alaska. Perhaps the pack sizes are different. Canadian wolf packs can easily number 20-30 individuals.

The African wild dog is the most efficient hunter in Africa. Impressive.

Size certainly plays the biggest factor here, but African Wild Dogs are a dominant species in Africa which is pretty much life on hardmode, so they are certainly nothing to slouch at. Any animal that can not only survive but thrive on the Savannah is a badass animal. If you put wild dogs in America, they would probably out compete wolves simply because of their unmatched pack mentality that can number in the hundreds, its literally a super pack. If you put wolves in Africa, I don't think they would fair as well. They would be pushed out by Hyenas, Lions and probably even wild dogs. Wolves sit at the top in Europe and North America because nothing out competes them, that wouldn't be the case in Africa.

Size matters. The wolf is 50 lbs heavier.

This video was awesome. the Grey wolf is bigger in size than the African wild dog. African wild dog hunts prey smaller than the Grey wolf but the African wild dog has a good hunting tactic the Grey wolf exhaust their prey. If there would be a one on one fight the Grey wolf would win. Make more videos like this for example clouded leopard vs caracal or Asian palm civet vs African civet anyway your videos are awesome.

Would have been more interesting had you discussed pack-on-pack fights as well.

Painted dogs are only as fast as a coyote and wolves kill them all the time. Painted dogs are also definitely not smarter or more cunning.

I seriously question the part of "the wild dog killing it's prey quickly" and, "they don't hunt prey that fight back". Those nasty dogs attack even rhinos.. They go for the buttocks and start digging while the prey is alive and on it's feet. They tear out the balls of male preys . They are horrible predators and their preys always suffer gruesome deaths

I realy like ur vedios. So, i would like to share some information that u may dont know. In the fight between jaguar and leopard,the animals age play a major role too. In tamil nadu of india, a 10 yr old male leopard killed a 4 yr old female adult tiger. The leopard killed the tiger due to his experience but also get injured during the fight which resulted in his death after three days. So, if a more experienced leopard meets a less experienced jaguar, the leopard is more likely to win. Also, a photograher named Hal Brindley took the photos of a leopard capturing nile crocodile. A nile crocodile is bigger than the american caiman which jaguar hunt. From these two cases, its clear that a leopard can defeat a jaguar if it wants
