Afghanistan Under Taliban Rule (1996)

What Hope For The Future (1996): A report exposing the hopes and fears of a war weary nation under Taliban rule.
Subscribe to Journeyman here: kzread.info_c...
In his dusty corn field in Afghanistan, a farmer tells us that the Taliban have at last brought peace. To him the mujahideen were marauders out to harass the local population. On the rocky, crater ridden road to Kabul, we stop a Taliban judge on his bicycle to ask him why girls are not allowed to attend school. After a prayer, he replies, "When normal conditions return, the women will once more be allowed to receive religious education." A teacher reveals how she was beaten by Taliban with rifles for having her face uncovered. As shown in this film, this is how the Taliban changed Afghan society under their control.

And its a good thing. For several reasons, i.a.: like ppl in this vid in '96, most of them now just want above all a peace. It' doesn't really matter which banner (say "Islamic Unity Front" or "Islamic Salvation Alliance") some particular warlord thug gang uses. There arent substantial differences. Only gradual progress & education can ultimately change the underlying problem: the fact that most people there really have a mindset that is horribly backwards from our point of view.

Afghanistan better times were likely during maybe the 1930s to 60s, maybe early 70s when the King ruled Afghanistan before the Soviets and the Taliban came around, the Afghans were chillin, there was no war AFAIK. Even Kabul back in them older times was once called the Paris of Central Asia. When was the last time you heard that? Likely never, only back 50+ years ago, it was called that and probably the whole of Afghanistan and Kabul was likely even a vacation spot. 3 to 4 Afghan civil wars must get very tiresome for the Afghan people

I felt very bad for the innocent children who are there in hospital who are losing hands and legs and eyes and wounded badly. What devilish acts of planting improvised explosive device and children getting wounded. Unless this people change their mindset and behaviour towards others and eradicate hatred and bitterness and jealousy from their hearts and minds. There will be no progress no development. ( I'm talking about those people leave their families to join Terrorist groups and do all evil things) Whenever I look at the people of Afghanistan and their camels and donkeys and dusty roads and mountains I think are they living in Modern days or are they living in ancient times. This are weird people. They are mad, don't want to develop. When it comes to poverty and illiteracy and other bad things they are number 1, but when it comes to development and modernizing they are last. They know only to how to fight. Don't have food to eat but when any war or fight starts they will gather together to fight without even thinking of the consequences. What kind of people are here who don't understand the seriousness of war and who don't respect the Western countries who protect them. Better solution to the problem: US Administration has made great decision to withdraw the Troops from this unending war. There is no use, leave them alone with their problems, they can solve their own problems.

Would you care to elaborate? Are you saying people of Afghanistan are going through these hardships just because they are Muslims, and that it is "justice"? Seems like you're assuming Christianity is a better option. But to any thinking person, Christianity with its inconsistencies is not a religion that will lead anyone to salvation. Plus, these inconsistencies birthed a weakness that inevitably lead to monstruous results we see in the contemporary West. Secularism, feminism, immorality and degeneracy of all sorts - those are the fruits of Christian civilization, which is more or less a cocktail of Judaism and paganism. Islam will put an end to all of that.
