That's a bit spontaneous, isn't it? And feels a bit inappropriate, considering the 'in together, out together' norm, especially as many countries were dragged into this by the US and sent their support. I can guarantee you, Germany had little interest in being or staying there and did so only to honour their commitments, now saying they won't let our citizens evacuate, giving US priority unless we pay more smells suspiciously like blackmail.

Just curious, anyone have any opinions on what might happen in the coming months in Afghanistan? I’m worried about the troops leaving, the taliban going back to their usual atrocities and then the Afghan people just left to the horror of a Holocaust 2.0. Would the countries of the world step in? Are they too afraid? Is there going to be another war? Am I being far too optimistic in these views?

Does the talibán really want to escalate this, their Leadership are out of the hole they were hiding in. They already have the USA military mobilizing their departure or are they willing to escalate this and have USA heavy artillery reinforcements with the Northern Alliance pushing from the north of Kabul. I think they should just sit back and let this played out peacefully as long as it takes to get everyone out who doesnt want to be there.
