I picked up 10 copies of ASM 252 from my LCS when I was in high school. It was my first spec play in comics. I think I did alright.

I think you shouldn’t compare prices to the ‘Boom’ in 2021, that was a perfect storm and those prices are inflated. Things have come back to reality.

Bought two copies of asm 252 at local 7-11 just after the magazine guy left. Had both graded along with X-Men 266 and NM 26 a few years ago, all newsstands, all came back 9.8. I'm not selling them anytime soon.

Batman #251 Oh Yeah !! One of my faves !❤ I am glad I bought a high grade copy of Omega Men 3 but there are so many 9.8s out there - having one isnt such a big deal. I really regret sleeping on Hulk 180. I sat happy with my 181 for years and figured I would get a 180 whenever...now it is expensive and Im going to have to shell out for it. ROM is a great character..too bad more people are only finding out about him now. I

That clone wars #1 is awesome, and the 1 in 1000 variant cover is just as cool.

you know newsstands command more due to lower print runs and inferior handling by common folks

I got my ASM 252 signed by Stan the Man himself and graded at a 8.0. New to this channel and loving it! Great content!

Too bad no one mentions that just recently C.P.V.'s of this book have been selling between $3000-4000 and they did not look like 9.8's

@@easy_nator_gamer8498 I wonder why? Would be nice if all things being equal CPV's get mentioned considering many key CPV books get top dollar. Yet, some influencers look at GPA and avoid mentioning CPV sales. Wonder if someone is paying for the Mark J t-shirts some KZread influencers keep wearing. Seems strange ?

@@kentA205 I agree 100% just look at the census numbers. Some these CPV books are absolute ghosts. In fact I'd love to see a comparison of the Census numbers of key books between Mark J, Newsttand and CPV. I also wonder what the percentage of these books were being printed as CPVs in comparison with Newsstand and Mark J percentages. I've mentioned it before about the CPVs, living in Canada and getting your books home in mint condition back in the day especially during winter was a struggle! I've only ever seen Tom mention CPV one time years ago, it was a $600 sale CPV newsttand of TMNT adventures 1 (archie series) I think. But yeah absolute facts! Tom goes hard on the Mark Js and Newsttands without ever mentioning the Canadian Price variants despite the sales and low census numbers.

@@easy_nator_gamer8498 I agree with you 100 percent. This is why we must take what KZread influencers have to say with a grain of salt. What we watch on KZread does not always reflect a well-researched and honest account of the top books being sold! It's unfortunate that so many follow blindly without doing their own research.

Still got mine I bought for $11.00 over 30 years ago.

SW Heir to the empire newsstand.. with the material used for the cover.. ridiculous to find in very high grade.

Heir to the Empire has 377 direct 9.8’s and only 70 newstands in a 9.8. 538 9.6 vs 135 newsstand and 517 9.4 vs 116. Seems like all newsstands are quite a bit rarer. That gap should garner a difference in price.

SW8 was the origin, but not 1st black costume. ASM #252 and MARVEL TEAM-UP #141 are tied for 1st APP of black costume.

They were fairly low print runs. And a lot didn’t even sell, probably makes them a little more rare.

​@@anthonyyoung6433 Rare in high grade, but not rare. The dollar bins are full of Rom and Micronauts books, and a lot of them are newsstand issues. But most wont grade above FN+. I have put together almost complete runs of both Rom and Micronauts out of my LCS' $1.99 bins over the past few years.

There has been a lot of spec surrounding Hasbro properties the past few months. Both ROM and Micronauts were both ( finally) given omnibuses recently - that is why there is renewed interest.

How does the the census count for ASM #78 9.6 go down? How would CGC know someone cracked it? I suppose the only way the the count could go down is to resubmit the slab and have CGC crack, press, grade.

You send in the label with the book. Out of census curiosity. To be honest I never do. Haven’t done many crack/press/clean maybe 5 in my life, but 1000 collectors each do 5 and don’t send in the label, that’s 5000k books that aren’t really on the census anymore.

The best book out of the spider verse Hass to be Spider-Man India. Not trending yet, but when it does, I think it’s going to be a very hot book especially in a 9.8. They’re very few and the paper quality is not the best.

Some people want to keep the senses up to date so when they crack, press and submit they will also send in the old label from the cracked book. CGC will then remove the old one from the census.

@David Farrington Usually they send in the old label, but in rare books, if one 9.6 comes off and a 9.8 goes right up, then it was most likely cracked, pressed, and resubmitted.

Some of these books with 500+ 9.8s just don’t seem like a true rare book.

Isn't the whole "movie comic spec" played out yet? It's getting old. Really it's enough. But if anyone wants to buy my Omega Men 3 based on speculation and rumors about Jason Momoa, I'd be happy to sell it to you for $5000. It might be worth that one day right? Isn't that the game? James Gunn needs to shake things up. No Luthor. Have Supes fight Brainiac. No Joker in Batman, maybe have Green Arrow face off with Joker. Get rid of Marvel family, just keep Cap Marvel(Shazam). Have Batman face off against something like the Mud Pack. Batman should show humility and travel globe to learn new skills. Bring Lady Shiva into the DC movies. And have supernatural characters pop up everywhere. I would like to see a WW2 WW movie with one or 2 JSA characters. what does everyone else think?

Hulk 180, it’s NOT A CAMEO!!! Wolverine never existed until the last page of this issue.

What's funny is some of these comics like Nick fury with agents of shield and secret invasion, they probably went down because the D+ show was a disaster, such a letdown for a lot of people 👎🏼

I agree with Gem, I dont think newsstands should command a premium unless it is high grade.
