    I gotta tell you kid (I can call you kid, I'll be 76 in a couple of months) you are amazing. You've never done this before? You build like a pro! You've shown me things I needed to learn. If you got time I'll tell you a little story. I worked on a beat up '97' Sailfish 193 center console fishing boat here in Bradenton FL after my next to last spinal surgery. I worked on that boat everyday almost for a year. I called the boat "Beating The Odds", which is one reason I looked you up. It turned out so well that folks at my marina wouldn't believe that it was as old as I said. Many thought it was new. It made me proud as hell anytime someone would compliment her. Well as life goes, I had another spinal surgery last April and the doctor forbid me to go boating or fishing until further notice. I really couldn't justify the marina expense when I couldn't use the old girl anymore. Put a for sale sign on it and sold in in 48 hours for a couple of grand more than I had in her. Meanwhile I have an early 80's Alumacraft Flat bottom bass boat which has a 25 hp Yamaha which is essentially brand new. I bought it in 2005 and it was a 2002 that a dealer found in the back of his warehouse; didn't remember he had it. He sold it to me for a fraction of the original price. So I have recently decided that Doctors don't know everything and that keeping me off the water was doing more harm than good. I have decided to redo my old bass boat. I'm going to tear it apart and make it new again. You are inspirational, I want you to know that. I actually was thinking of selling "Puddle Duck II", but I changed my mind big time. I'm gonna dive right into it when I get back home. We, my wife and I are here in PA, with may daughters and grandkids for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now I'm chafing at the bit to get started. I was watching MOTV the other day and there was a commercial Roland Martin made for Bass Pro (I think), he's an old time TV Bass guy if you don't know, and he says that Aluminum was perfectly fine in saltwater, he was pushing Tracker, something I was never sure about. So that got me to thinking. Your work appears flawless. And I love the use of aluminum, the weight loss can be extraordinary when I change out some of that 3/4" plywood. That will add to the skinny nature of the boat to hunt inshore species in SW FL, and on the Susquehanna River in the Summers for smallies. I'm rambling, sorry, but I couldn't let your work go uncomplimented. Preciate Ya... FR

    Great Job! My advice would be to solder all connections and run all those wires through a wire loom. The vibrations while your running the boat can loosen the splices plus, the wire loom will protect the wires from rubbing up against the alumina framing you made. Fantastic video. If I come across a free John boat I may just to do the same thing.

    Nice one man it looks good. You will accomplish far more in life if your out there getting the job done with what you have rather than working flat out to impress others with what you don't need. There are many a fancy boat that sit idle while its owner works tirelessly. I've just got a mig welding set up Iand and would recommend it as the possibilitys for what you can build are endless. Good luck

    Looking good. I am doing a 13.5 ft Alumacraft. I installed 2 conduits at 3/4 in diameter each running down each side of the boat so I could put my wiring down one side and the transducer cable down the other side to avoid "noise" interference. I'm almost done with the painting of the deck, and then on to the carpet and finishing touches such as switches and fish finder, installing the seats and bow mounted trolling motor. The conduits are just PVC pipe that are 10 ft sticks and they only cost $2.35 each. I recommend you run that if you can. It will clean things up for you and help avoid accidental snags with stuff you might put in the compartments. Fantastic job you did though.

    Great job, except for one thing , next time either solder your wires together or use crimp on connectors, or use the heat shrink solder ring sleeves that are basically a clear heat shrink tube with a ring of solder in the middle coated with Flux, it solders your wires together as it shrinks all in one step using a heat gun, no soldering iron required.

    What about floatation , and stability of the boat when casting

  • @peterpham4846

    @peterpham4846

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great build! This is the most logical and simple mod done to a boat! I seen so many mod people do for casting and storage that are so way over kill and not needed. The flotation of the boat and stability of it was designed by the original designer pf the boat, That was figure out and approved by the US Coast Guards prior to selling it to the public! Adding foam to the inside of the boat doesn't make it anymore stable then the original design of the boat as is! The only way to have it more stable in the water is increasing the mass of the boat original design. You increase the mass..you add more displacement of water it can do! Adding foam only make the boat from sinking if you hit something that damages the integrity of the boat hull. Adding all these part into the boat, you need to look at the weight fact on how many people it can carry afterward. DO Not go over the OEM carrying spec!! Just because you added foam to the boat inside!!!

    I would like to see this boat in the water. a 12 ft aluminum boat has a rating of 510-610 pound's of carry capacity.including motor/gear/person's and a 12 ft boat is only rated for 2 person's. just be careful look's like you will be grossly over weight.

    It was all framed aluminum with 1/2" plywood and I've made several bass videos with this boat in action go watch them. It handles the weight very well

    Just can't watch your video because of the crappy music. Even tried muting on/off. Drop the noise please. I see potential but it's creepy
