Nice job, you used your head and it worked out for ya. Don't worry about anyone saying your doing it wrong. My first cabin I built was 40 years ago and I didn't build it the way you should and it's still standing today and dry as ever with people living in it, My last cabin was 22 years ago and I still have it and I have a friend living in it right now. Smart, building around your woodstove. Keep going the way you are doing, you will be "BUFF" in no time, lol. Thanks for sharing

The shear rate of a screw is way less then a nail. Screws are actually the worst thing you can use when building weight bearing structures. So you’re assessment is very wrong. That being said she is using the timberlok screws which do have a higher shear rate however as that green lumber drys it’s still likely to snap those screws all the same. It’s not the end of the world to use screws at all but they are not BETTER then nails. Not even close. A nail will always be better just based on weight bearing capacity.

Smart move from an old phart. Safety Glasses! Sitting on that Quad and backing up pulling that thin cable. If it snaps depending on where it snaps it could take out an eye or worse. I remember a rigger being decapitated when a much larger steel cable was undergoing load testing. He was standing in the wrong place when things happened. Be safe, you're doing great.

As for not doing it like others think is "right"..... There are dozens of ways to do things "right" so don't listen when others tell you THEIR WAY is the "right way."

Go for it !! ...Do it your way. Good move on the stove. I was sweating bullets when you got under the wall with the support piece sitting on tarp. Wood on wood grabs better in that case. I would also suggest a safety addition, place a sturdy item 2' high or more under the wall so - if it goes wrong- you may be able to craw out. I survived a ceiling collapse because of a small pile on concrete blocks.

I'm very much not looking forward to doing this exact same thing (lifting up the framed walls) at the place I'm building. Heading out there next weekend. 2x6, 16' walls. Just the window & door framings were getting heavy on their own. Full 16' walls are going to suck. Was hoping the small rental place about 30 mins away would have wall jacks. Nope. They do not. Hopefully the ATV winch with a snatch block up high in the nearest tree option works. Likely doing it alone as well. 'Might' be able to round up a relative that's essentially a load bearing mammal to help out. Maybe. Some lady I was talking to a few weeks ago asked when I was planning on having it completed. I said, "Uhhh. Last year?" 😄 You got it done though. Sheer determination. Congrats on the progress.

If you find you don't have enough insulation you can always add foam insulation to the outside of the building after words. Then put your house wrap and siding on over top. My parents did it to a house they built. And it made it warmer

Very well done young lady. That short winch cable is your biggest problem. And the pulling cable SHOULD NEVER be flat on the surface of the wall because if it is then instead of pulling the far end up, you are pulling it horizontally. Try getting an extra (thick) rope on the end of the cable and attach an upright where the rope is and route the cable over that. You will probably have to stop, brace the top of the wall to stop it falling back down, slacken the rope and reset the pole and do it again. As they say, "Rinse and Repeat". Once the rope is at least a foot above the base of the wall when attached to the quad AND TAUGHT WITHOUT A POLE you should be OK to just pull it into place. NOT TRYING TO BE NASTY AT ALL but what you are doing is called "rigging" and it is a science that normally takes an apprentice 5 years of supervised training to learn under supervision before he MIGHT be able to do the job unsupervised. It can also be VERY DANGEROUS - AND TO HELL WITH THE SAFETY AUTHORITIES, it is YOUR SAFETY that most of us out here are worried about. Just keep on keeping on and just being YOU.

Your braces on the outside are perfect being solo. Screws are the best to reduce twisting. The idea of nails on green wood makes me cringe lol. Hopefully no vapor barrier won't be an issue down the road. You are doing a great job to reach your dreams and you chose one of the best stoves out there. Please over kill the fire break, floor and assure manufacturers stack height and it should outlast the walls.🦋🌻🇨🇦

Nice work with the walls, if you had put a long 2" 4 next to the supports on the floor in which you broke the winch's line with a block, then you would have had a lift, so it looks like an upside-down V, here in Sweden we put a 2" 2 horizontally on the inside so you get a space for electricity and an extra layer of insulation before you put the wall board, that might be an idea for you, of course you get a little less surface inside but it might be worth waking up to 3-5 degrees warmer indoors in winter. Nice to see that the construction is progressing and nice stove you got hold of, looking forward to the next video
