Affect cable angle has on cam lean

The only reason the cables caused any noticable cam lean when they were deflected to the opposite side is because they were directly pressing against the cam from the looks of it. Cable deflection only affects the cam on the yoked portion of the bow, the rest is caused by the position of the cam on the axle. Great demonstration!

Thanks for taking the time and affort to check this argument out for real! There's a few different combinations of bow design which some may adopt or reject when buying a bow thanks to hear-say etc. yoke, double yoke, no yoke string and cable set up. But this video shows they all need to be given the acid test before writing any make or style of bow design off. I've got 1 bow with a single yoke system, and 1 with a no yoke system, and I've had no problem with either at any distance or arrow weight. Thanks again for testing this theory much appreciated 👍

This gives me hope for my spyder turbo. And Hoyt all together. Thanks for the vid. Hope other Hoyt haters see this

Can you change cam lean and limb deflection

I would like to see it in dynamics. Аt the moment when the load is redistributed from the string to the cables.

thanks for the video. I bought new strings 3 months ago. had some problems with peep rotating even when string broken in. went to shoot today with an arrow nocked and strings on both end of eye loop snapped. what do you think caused this? I checked the cam for any sharp edges and found none. did not torque the bow. ????

Sounds a bit like one of my first strings when I started to do my own - low strand number, uneven tension and too little pre-stretching pressure. Effectively I had only a couple active strands per loop, due to that the peep kept rotating and in the end the eye on the cam snapped. I would say get in touch with whoever sold you those strings, they been junk before you even had them on your bow.

Had them done from a bowshop. They are new in town and thought I could support local shop. He said they been doing for about three years. I counted the strands and they were 24. thanks for your input.

So try that at full draw and see what it does, don't really care how they are at rest

I recently had a set of new strings installed on my Hoyt Nitrum Turbo and a new drop away rest. Now my bow is shooting way to the left and I cannot get my Trophy Ridge Clutch to sight in far enough to the left to match my shot. Do you think this has to do with "Cam lean" when my new strings were installed?

yes. If your rest is set perfectly on factory spec center shot, it is your cam leaning left at full draw and moving the string to the right side of the rest. This is forcing the arrow to shoot left out of the bow, and that is why you do not have enough adjustment in your sight. Remove 2 twists from your left side of the top yolk, and add 2 twists to the right side. Observe the cam lean at full draw to see if you straightened it out. Repeat or adjust as necessary. DO the same for the bottom cam. After that you should be able to do micro adjustments on your rest if needed to shoot perfect through paper.

I was having the same problem with my prime black 5 set at 80#. Had the qad rest with micro adjustment knobs. Has a Fast Eddy sight. Kept having extremely tight groups with some breakages at all distances, but every single shot was left. Bare shaft tuned and paper tuned. Thought it might of been my tru ball copper head caliper release that has been my workhorse for 14 years. Went to the tru ball short 'n sweet hooker release. Same thing. Thought it might have been my rest, so whipped out my original whisker biscuit from the late 90s. Shot a little closer, but still left. When chasing the shots with the sight adjustment, it was still hitting left. Did the torque test with cement tie wire inline with the sight. Perfect. Nothing. So while pondering about cam lean 3 nights ago, I was sitting on the couch with the bow on my lap with an arrow knocked. I noticed the hole of the whisker biscuit was much larger than my carbon arrows. I'd guess the size was large for aluminum arrows given the age of it. My carbons I'm running are 200s gold tip kinetics. So I googled up Cabela's to see if they sold a smaller hole biscuit, and they did. Picked it up 2 days ago, and without adjusting my sights, the arrows are now hitting right of the target. That's great news to me, because that goes hand in hand with my sights being left of center. Hope this helps someone, cause I ended up hunting with my old rig last year, because of it all. Nothing wrong with the old rig. Lots of shots, and plenty of meat in the freezer. Just thought I'd try something new last year.

@@Hungry_Tree_Ghost You can move the cams left or right too with the spacer kit. Primes are funny with QAD's for whatever reason though.

@@_DeFiNiTeLy_Not_BrAd_ I didn't know that. My biggest mistake with the bow was not having my proshop set it up for me. They recommended it, and I denied it at the time. Told them I'd come back, because I didn't have time that night. Fast forward 2 months and we were in COVID lockdown. I'm very diy with archery, but I admit I would've loved the help on this one.
