I'm 32 and grew up with the GOOD yrs of WCW. It was my favorite show until 2000. This game reminds me so much of WCW Revenge. For kids who didn't grow up like the rest of us it was on this thing called the Nintendo 64. You'd have to use a game cartridge and blow into it if it didn't work. But anyway yeah this game may be the 1st wresting game I get since 2019. ATTITUDE ERA FOREVER!!!!!!

The fact that this gameplay just hit home for me with Nostalgia from WWF No Mercy on Nintendo 64 back in the day. The momentum bar and the grapple and striking input i crazy similar to No Mercy. I am 100% picking this up for sure. I still play No Mercy on my laptop with the Nintendo 64 emulator software to this day one of my all time favorite Wrestling game.

Finally a good old school wrestling game

I always liked how the n64 wrestling games finishers worked. You couldn't store them and had to build up to your special. Always liked that over smackdown and 2k

The crowd sound......music to my ears. From "Adam Cole BAY BAY" to "Holy Shit!" Take my money NOW.

No mercy was my favorite n64 game. I hope they release it when it’s ready and playable 2k needs competition

This reminds me of No Mercy and Day of Reconing series as far as gameplay mechanics. Dope.

This and 2k23 gameplay wise, look very similar yet people act like the AEW game is so much better. There was literally a concept trailer someone made using 2k22, and people in the comments were shitting on 2k22, saying how much better the “AEW game” they were seeing was, not knowing it was actually 2k22 lmao.

And if ur playing 2k22 with a friend or someone it becomes too complicated to do a move it's got too much option for blocking the move. And yeah I liked 2k14 the gameplay was simple . And I'm not aew fan but just by just looking at it gameplay looks solid to me .

This shit looks so awesome. It looks so far it reminds me of no mercy wrestlemania 2000 days and brings back so many memories. Even the graphics looks exactly like it is just so mind blowing. This is amazing.

Strong WM2000/No Mercy vibes coming from this, definitely on my shopping list, and rumour has it the Xbox version will be on Game Pass.

I agree, they did a pretty good job with the sound design, but I'm not so sure about the graphics. I currently play WWE 2K23, and I guess I'm just more accustomed to their realistic graphics as opposed to this game's cartoonish ones, I know it's meant to look old school and all, but maybe I'll try it out sometime.

Might not be a looker but the mechanics of no mercy, wrestlemania etc were legendary. Have been dyiiiing for a game like this again. Finally it will be fun to play

I think the standards are too high for graphics over the gameplay. Really tho…? Is it not good looking ? Cause I think it looks awesome. I prefer gameplay over the graphics that look like the real thing. And also. Imagine if this game came out ten years ago. The graphics would be the highlight. Graphics don’t overshadow gameplay.

The animations look off. Like they are missing frames almost. The style is fine but it doesn’t look right. I know it’s not done but this is what they want us to see.

There is a major difference between wrestling game and wrestling simulation

I love the momentum meter, I think saving specials cheapens gameplay. I think the hit detection looks fantastic and I didn't see any clipping. Looks quite promising.

It looks good, I just hope that there is going to be some music in the background

Funny how the game sells better than the actual AEW wrestlers and WWE for that matter.

My gut instinct is this game will be absolute magic to play, Straight up N64 No Mercy vibes which in my opinion is and always will be the best wrestling game ever made...Finally devs actually incorporating a tried and tested formula that was the best mechanic back in the day as regards to wrestling, hence the No Mercy comparison...Instant buy, this gonna sell big.

I hope that the ROH roster is playable. And hopefully some arenas and titles from ROH, (since Kahn owns ROH now why not also throw it in) and maybe also have a pure match as a possible gimmick match. (ik that might be asking too much) But of we don't get ROH in the base game hopefully we can get them in a dlc. But what I don't wanna see is a ROH game

Exactly, grew up on SvR 2006, 2007 and 2008, iconic wrestling games they were until they started becoming more “realistic” in terms of gameplay and ruined the fun

Now they just need to bring back a new Def Jam Fight with these controls.

I can't tell if the animations are a little jank (specifically running) or if I'm so used to how real the 2k games feel now that it's weird to see more cartoonish animations

Looks like an older game with modern graphics. And that's a good thing. Wrestling games have tried to become sims rather than fun arcade gameplay.

Remind me of the old SvR games, hopefully theres a 24/7 career game mode, blood/bleed mechanics and extreme matches like they used to have in SvR 2006-2008

Inpact on the canvas and the ropes need to be fixed they barely moving at all

Yeah, way too fast. Like it's on 2x. How hard is it for them to take everything that No Mercy perfected, and improve the graphics as much as 20-25 years allows? You'd have the greatest game ever. No need to get cute with more moves, combos, etc.

If this plays like Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy I'm buying it and I don't even watch AEW. Imagine if its also moddable!? Crazy potential!

Might be too late but HUGE details they missed was the character hunched over and grabbing at their torso after receiving too much damage. Also recovery seems to happen too quickly. There should be reward to the player on top and penalty for the player losing the battle. (DANGER) Reversals should be as crucial as in NO MERCY but hard to master. Rooting for this game to have a successful reception and longevity.

also how the characters could be hit into resting on the ropes for grapple moves to the outside or signatures or running attack to the outisde.

this looks really rough but the gameplay itself does look sorta fun at its core, reminds me of the older wwe games. it needs alot of fleshing out though, it looks really floaty and the animations are a bit stiff. like honestly all you gotta do is straight up copy the gameplay from smackdown here comes the pain and its done perfect game

Hopefully there's good modding support for the game too.

It's like this game will never get released ridiculous it is!

Yeah it plays just like the Nintendo 64 games which had very simple controls that's what they were going for But yeah I'm happy to controls are so simple too

now that aew has gone with no mercy gameplay, the only way 2k can keep up is to go with smackdown HCTP gameplay. Also get rid of the fact you have to press o on ps5 to grapple before doing a move, it's so unrealistic
