A great tribute, and no one could ask for a better induction speech in the true spirit of rock 'n roll than what Steven and Joe gave here for the greatest rock band of all time. No truer words have ever been spoken than "It is laughable that some people still consider them just a heavy metal band, since at least half of their best songs are acoustic."

I can hardly think of anybody who grew up during the 70's who did'nt listen and love Led Zeppelin. Everything about them from Plant's stellar vocals, to Jimmy Page's unique guitar sound, to John Paul Jone's great musicianship, and to the greatest drummer in rock, John Bonham-they were in my opinion "The Greatest Rock Band Of The 70's"

michael88863 purple and sabbath were formed the same year as led zep. rainbow 7 years after that. floyd and stones existed before but you cant tell who is more original. everyone started from blues. stones played blues, country, rnr. floyd played progressive and they are to me the best band of all time. rainbow members listened to zep. zep, sabbath and purple took blues turned it into blues rock and each one of these bands set the foundations of heavy metal and hard rock. so no purple or rainbow are not better than zep. to me zep kicks their asses, but even you have to admit that a guitarist like paige, a vocalist like plant, a fucking beast of a drummer john bonham and a multitalented motherfucker like john paul jones come out once every 100.000 years. so please, do me a favor and dont place sabbath or purple above led zeppelin. Led Zeppelin, just a rock band? No. They were 4 accomplished musicians who excelled at their respective instruments, but in combination they produced a musical statement far more powerful than the sum of those individual parts. To love them or hate them, is inconsequential. One thing you can't do is ignore them. Their influence in the world of music can still be seen, heard and felt nearly 35 years after they disbanded. Very few if any bands can claim that. I was blessed to be around then. \m/

I am on a Zepp binge of several days as I recover from an ass-kicking stay in hospital. It is definitely part of my healing and I'm learning so much more about them and their influences. Joe is definitely right.....Zepp are 1000 x more than just a heavy-metal band. They defy a simplistic classification into any single genre and music is far better appreciated as ever-changing, blending, multi-influential, etc. That's just how they wanted it.

Yeah, but he sang it better. Led Zeppelin didn't even perform their most notable hits because Plant, I'm sure, would not have been able to do them justice as his voice did not stand the test of time.

I think Joe's speech was very moving, and Stevens was fun too. they were both obviously very honored, but also very inspired. And Joe was so nervous he had a hard time getting the words out right, a typical response that 99% of people anywhere would have had. Many who have an easy time performing in one aspect, are very shy in other ways. As just one example; Jimi Hendrix was very shy. The only negativity in this video at all is well, not in the video at all. it's in the toxic comments section, as always. But these people just need to learn the merits of decency, compassion, and most of all: introspection. It's my guess they have been shown little of any of that throughout their lives, hence the anger they direct at anyone who happens to be available. I don't think they even realize they are the minority, and that most of us see right through the thin veil of misdirecting their self-loathing onto others. It's sad more than anything, I can't even take offense because I feel so sorry for them. _We were all born innocent._ Remember that when you confront someone with hate in their heart (but don't accept their bullshit either).
