I'm a black guy and DEF LEPPARD is my all time favorite band! PYROMANIA was my first album that I bought by them and I wore it out. I had the neighbors complaining about the loud music, but I didn't give a damn! This ceremony and induction was so well deserved. I can't think of a group more deserving! They have truly earned it! The standing ovation for Rick did bring tears to my eyes. These guys aren't just bandmates but truly are as Joe said- "brothers. " I thank DEF LEPPARD for all the great music over the years. True fans, like myself, look forward to all the great things moving forward for this band and beyond. "True legends" is the term that I use to describe this band and their influence on rock-n-roll and music as a whole. Keep rockin', Guys! Music ain't nothing without you! You got my blessing! Peace.

@@Greta5508 Thank you. Obviously I did not know that. I'm guessing that's why they have another guitar player substituting for Vivian from time to time. He does a great job. Steve Clark's musical contribution was not just important for Def Leppard but was also instrumental in a lot of d 90s and later bands who looked to the sound of Def Leppard as an inspiration. Steve Clarke is without a doubt the most underrated guitarists of all time and it is a tragedy that he does not get the recognition he deserves from his peers and from the pathetic magazines and so-called industry websites

Think about it, if it wasn’t for Pete Willis, there probably be Def Leppard today cause joe Elliot missed the bus and walked and bumped into him and as for Steve Clark, that was his college buddy. People don’t really know much Pete Willis did to make that band to get it going and deserves more credit. Yea joe Eliot can mock him and give him the elbow but if it was for Pete, you joe Eliot would of probably still be working at a factory

They didn't care that they were a rock band and the drummer had one arm....unheard of. That's brotherhood right there. Oh, then they come out with Hysteria, unreal. See them live before they're gone. One day he called them all together and played one of their songs with his arm and his feet....they were all in tears by the end.

They have always kept their working class roots in their hearts. They are known for their strong work ethic, loyalty to one another, and being humble and down to earth in interviews and when meeting their fans. I’ve heard quotes from all of them saying how they are all great friends and really just love each other and have fun together. Truly brothers. And on top of all that, they can still rock! I’ve always loved Van Halen too, but that band was never short on egos and that has just never been a thing in DL.

Captains Log, Star date August 16th (We Love You Joe Elliot😂❤️) Def Leppard has been one of my favorite bands growing up, my brother got me hooked on Rock Of Ages and it grew from there. Since I first heard Def Leppard nearly 11 years ago, I have taken a list of songs from albums like High N’ Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria, Adrenalize, Euphoria, and more- my most favorite songs being Stagefright, I wanna Touch U and Gods of War. Seeing Brian May give such an amazing speech telling amazing stories and telling their friendship and praising a band that deserves way more credit than many people give them. Watching everyone scream for Rick Allen and see him bust out in tears definitely softened my hardened heart, he deserved every second of that standing ovation. This band has been to hell and back since the beginning and has earned their success, we need more rockstars like Def Leppard in our corner. I hope one day to at least see these guys on stage when the virus subsides, meeting them would be even better but one can dream! Thank you guys for making our childhoods and blowing our minds with every show.

My favorite moment was Joe Elliot saying "Rick Allen everybody." The "everybody" is acknowledgement of the fact that rock n roll is so diverse and there's a sizable portion of the crowd who are not fans of " Dec Leapard" per se. But they are cousins in an extended family and they damn well know what happened to Rick Allen. So that standing ovation was heart warming cause it was earned from a larger demographic than the guys in the band were used to. You could see it on the faces of the bandmembers. Yeah, watching Rick get teary eyed was the highlight of the night along with the Stevie Nicks/Don Henley duet and watching Robert Smith sing "Just Like Heaven."

@@Bigrobkerr MY music? What does that even mean? I don't have to justify my musical preferences to some weirdo on KZread who comments a year later let alone comments something entirely off base and uneducated. I was born and raised on the amazing rock acts of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. I despise grunge, I don't even remotely enjoy most rock music that's been released since the 90s. Take your Boomer theory and shove it.

@@Bigrobkerr yeah, man, it's all good. Tbh, my parents are the same age as Def Leppard. They had me young, I grew up on their musical tastes but they actually weren't DL fans at first. MTV premiered when I was almost 4 and some of my earliest memories are Bringin on the Heartbreak and the videos from the Pyromania album. Even my husband who was born in 75 - his favorites are Poison and DL. Music doesn't know ages of its fans. You like what you like. That's why it's a universal language.

Honestly, I've heard about this band before, but I really got into them a few days ago when I found out about Rick Allen and seeing him get a standing ovation was so beautiful, especially since he was getting emotional too! I've seen performances of them and Rick always has a smile on his face, which I find sweet. The fact that Def Leppard waited for him and didn't try to find another drummer, it just shows how kind and wonderful these guys are. Def Leppard really is a family. Also, they really know how to rock a crowd with their music! :)

Def Leppard is my absolute favorite rock band in the world! I fell in love with them when I was a little girl. Flashback to 1983 and MTV. I was 10 years old. Def leppard had a heavy rotation of photograph, then I think rock of ages. Watching Joe swing that sword and wearing those tight black leather jeans. I fell in lust and became a fan. I have seen them 14 times. Most current was Sept 27, 2018 in Portland, Oregon at the Moda Center. I have a million reasons why they're my favorite band. Growing up has special memories with their songs. Good times, sad times. Their music has touched my life through tragedies and lost loved ones in my life. Long long way to go, got me through the loss of my beloved Grandmother and my loving father and 6 year old neice who passed with cancer. That song spoke to me and my heart and helped carry me through. There's just many of their songs i hold dear that have a special meaning or happy place. My other half and I song is Hysteria. We dance to it slowly at every Def Leppard concert.....When I found out that they were a nominee for this prestigious honor, I voted daily. This band is very deserving and have been through hell and back. Even through tragedy like losing Steve, Rick's accident, Viv's dealing with cancer. They stayed strong and true. They do what they do for them of course, but most definitely for their fans! I loved Joe's speech. His tribute to Steve their fallen brother. His recognition of Pete. His mention of Rick and what he overcome to continue his journey with Def Leppard. The love and admiration and respect he showed. It touched my heart very deeply. I thought that I loved them before, I just love them even more. This speech from Joe is just another reason why. I hope I am honored enough to meet them one day and tell them face to face how much I love them and what they mean to me. God bless and Congratulations!!! It's about bloody damn time!!!! And as Joe says at the end of their concerts. There will be a next time. Do us a favor aye. Don't forget us, and we won't forget you. ; )
