AEM Water Temperature Gauge Install on Project Civic EK / Is it over heating?
Trying to figure out why my radiator fan won't come on so I decide to install the AEM water temp gauge to get a better idea of what is happening under the hood.

I was never sure how hard it would be to install a gauge, so I never even tried. But seeing this video... now I want one lol. Love the Video, glad to see you guys back and can't wait till next week

The issue with using a adaptor in the radiator hose for the sensor like that is that it reacts super slow during warm up.
Never knew its very easy to install the water temp gauge, bought mine a Greddy oil and water temp in hope of installing it on my EK but my dad borrowed it so I couldn't install it anytime soon. Anyway keep up the good work! Its been fun learning a bunch of stuff about D series and Honda EK in general and I subscribed to your channel
Canada here...good job, simple, clean...keep turning that wrench... one love
Simplicity. Wired to the radio just flawless. I own a Toyota Yaris which doesn't have stock gauge but a temp indicator. This would work. Cool video.
That AEM water temp gauge is sweet! I like how it comes loomed to the sensor and just snaps in. The dual digital/analog readout is cool too. 😷🤙🏼
To troubleshoot if the issue is with the fan motor or wiring, disconnect the connector from the temp sensor and jump the two wires with a paper clip while the ignition is turned on. The fan should turn on if no issue with the fan and wiring. Since you installed a higher capacity rad the fan will only turn on once it reaches the 200+ temp mark (approx 205 deg). Not sure what model/year Civic you should have two temp sensors, one on the thermostat housing and one next to the EGR.
I really like the gauge pod, looks like you have room to add additional gauges too like a wideband or oil pressure too

Yeah i want to add a oil pressure gauge eventually
Keep the videos coming guys...I know you guys are busy bees I admire both cars...excited for all the upgrades
Tip. If you think your fan isn't coming on. You can jump the 2 wire fan switch on the thermostat housing with a paper clip and it will come come. To see if you have a bad fan switch or wiring problem. Nice build.

@Fox Harold no problem =)
If the fans are not turning on...the your fan switch located on the thermostat housing must be busted.. you can use a clip to bridge the connection to check if the fans are still running..there are aftermarket fan switch you can buy which switches the fans on on lower temperature if you really want to avoid overheating..especially on your track days

I was having the same problem with my civic a few months back. So I swapped the sensor above the thermostat housing and it went back to normal. The part number is MT0600 from santech.
Just installed one of these, it was saying 45 degrees is when the fan kicks in. Just bought the most expensive one I could find so hopefully this one works
You did a great job showing all steps bro👍🏼👍🏼
What size adapter would i need for a stock 97 civic ex?
Quite understandable your explication, congrats!
Thank you so much I’m ready to install mine
Do you happen to have links to what you used? If not did you order the temp sensor separately or did it come with gauge or coolant hose housing?

I'm interested in what housing he used or are they all generic? genetic parts don't always fit so I'm skeptical about the generic Amazon one

@@RuuDBoY868 I looked into a little bit. I think for most coolant temp gauges it comes with a temp sensor to read the temp. The housing the goes with the hose is another story. It think you have to go with a generic one and just find the size of hose you have for the upper radiator hose. Then buy one to match.
Reasonably simple? Would it be the same process for a 9th gen Si? I don't know anything about electrical... Is this a simple job?
If your car is OBD2 a Scangauge2 should display water temp through the OBD2 port
Where you buy that adapter ? Thanks
Why can’t you use the original wires to power the gauge that are on the original gauge???
Thanks 4 the video I really need it one.
Can u send me the link for that adapter pls and thank u
Anyone have a link to the temp sens adapter?
Another good video man
love ek videos!

That tool is a hole saw my man.
Nice addition!
are you still using the thermostat?? how the gauge read low temperature with the thermostat close??
Ok so you wired it into your radio clip where to wire it in if you do have an aftermarket deck?
Have a link for the piece you used on the hose?

Great video.
Low coolant causes fans not to turn on. I would use multimeter to check relays first
I have check my fan several times with a piece of wire and it’s does work but the temp gauge will get almost in the red and will never come on. I am running my heat constantly to help keep the engine cool. I have used a couple different fan switches and nothing.

Did you check the resistance on the temp switch? Can also loop the wires from the sensor to the fan checking the wiring is still good.
Hey are you planning to get a Dyno tune sometime in the future? Just curious on how much the single cam can make on N/A. And I bet it will be a lot better than just running off the regular ECU program.

How do you go about bleeding the cooling system after installing

Is all honda 32mm?
Just buy an Ultragauge OBD2 for $80 it does all that and read codes + Clear check engine light
hola,se puede seleccionar entre F y C ?
Is that for all Honda’s?
