Adwoa Aboah on Self Love and the Necessity of Community

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Introducing the cover star of our wellness issue, #AdwoaAboah, whose recovery from a drug addiction led to her ultimately founding @gurlstalk, a support network for young people to share their feelings amongst peers in a safe space. @adwoaaboah's approach to #wellness begins with community: "It doesn’t necessarily have to be your parents or even the people most close to you, but you have to find someone that you can share yourself with on a deeper and more meaningful level,” she says.
We find Aboah’s take refreshing, with wellness today seemingly anchored on the self (think: "self-care"), implying that we should be capable of navigating life's distressing, anxiety-ridden, complex, and depressive moments solo. In this issue, we challenge our wellness perspective, uncover Aboah's wellness routine, chat with six experts reshaping the industry today, and question whether or not true wellness actually be obtained in a post-Roe world.
